Don't let some of the negative reviews put you off! Yes, the hotel looks dated in places, but it's clean and the staff are fantastic! We arrived after a long flight to find the hotel hadn't received our booking, but this was soon resolved by Irwin (night manager?), who I can't praise enough! He sorted a room for our first night, and moved us into a better room the following day. Arriving to our new room, we were treated to a bottle of wine and a plate of desserts. He also arranged for us to have a special evening meal on the beach in honour of us being on our honeymoon. Rooms - our room was cleaned daily, and there was enough space to store everything. Thank you to the house-keepers who decorated the room for my birthday! Food - plenty of options for breakfast and in the evenings, personally, I wasn't as impressed at lunch, however there's the option of getting something from Mahi's. You definitely won't go hungry! Sun loungers/pool area - yes, people are in the habit of reserving loungers early in the morning, however we didn't struggle to get one. The hotel could do with a few more umbrellas though. The staff at the pool bar, Troy, Houston, and Jonathan are great - a real asset! Chantal (entertainment) is energetic and tries to encourage participation, without being pushy! The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the beach. Yes there are beach vendors, however a polite "no, thank you", and they move on. I would have no hesitation going back to Mystique! …
First and foremost let me confirm that the journey from the airport was horrendous and took over 3 hours (apparently a bridge was out forcing all the traffic onto the only main road). In all from house to hotel took something like 21 hours Not the fault of Tui (flight great) or the hotel but if you can afford the extra for a helicopter transfer I would definitely do so. We arrived around 8-8.30pm and booking in was pretty straight forward with no no hassles and the rum punch certainly helped with the fatigue. Room was ground floor garden view in the main block and, while yes it was a little bit dated but it was comfortable, clean and the beds were extremely comfy. Don't forget that having just come out of a very long Covid lockdown, which appears to have financially cut the island's economy off at the knees and then going straight into cost of living crisis the ability to throw money around has been very probably been curtailed. However the staff are AMAZING. The location is AMAZING. The sunsets are... yes.. AMAZING. Regarding the food, with my wife being a pescatarian and myself a fully fledged carnivore, we found that there was plenty of choice and to a high standard every day. Mahi's especially always have a decent choice from fish to salad, to wings, to roti, to paninis (wife's favourite). Speaking with other guests Chic can be a bit hit and miss. I had no issues, other than the the vegetarian ravioli wasn't available, so the wife had to have the tofu. Should they have more parasols around the pool, probably, but most of the people there seemed quite happy to top up their tans. With the beach being open to the public (as are all beaches in St Lucia) I would think (although I may be wrong) that the hotel can only have a certain amount on the beach so that local entrepreneurs can set up & hire out their loungers. Either way, usually got one around 2pm anyway. At the moment it is not a 4 star Hotel but is a solid 3 1/2 (3.5), with 5 star staff. I have no doubt that with an improving economic situation that the (minor) issues such as WiFi, will be addressed as to lose this gem would be a travesty. Would definitely go back (but will have to save up for the helicopter transfer) …
Last day of holiday I can’t say enough about this beautiful island. People are so kind so safe to go out anywhere. Very convenient for town, shops, chemist, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. Hotel is beautiful and the room is just gorgeous. Will definitely return. Go see Vendor Lincoln on the beach for your trips he will really look after you. Also English plug sockets no need for adapters.
We chose the Mystique because we wanted to be on the beach, wanted all inclusive but sadly couldn't afford the likes of Sandals! I would recommend booking a private transfer from the airport to the hotel (and back again) as this took us 90 minutes rather than the 3 hours some people experienced in a mini bus stopping at other hotels. The hotel has the potential to be fabulous but definitely needs some work to get there... In our room there was a bottle of champagne, fruit and a selection of cakes in celebration of my birthday which was so appreciated - thank you! Our Deluxe Junior Suite with Ocean View was lovely, plenty of room and comfortable. Our house keeper kept our rooms spotless - thank you. Being picky I would have liked another chest of drawers but we managed! The pool was lovely but we preferred the beach. Our biggest moan was that, despite all the emphasis on sun protection, there were not enough umbrellas around the pool which is not acceptable. Beach vendors responded to a polite 'no thank you'. Once again I had to become one of the sheep getting up at sparrows fart to secure a sunbed but it pays off! (perhaps allocation at check in could work??) The buffet for breakfast was lovely, for lunch was OK but dinner was a bit hit and miss with not much selection on some nights. We loved Mahi's Beach Hut (their Mahi mahi salad was particularly fabulous - probably had this at least 5 times!). The restaurant Chic was OK, it was nice to be served but selection was not amazing. The alcohol choice available on all inclusive was probably one of the best we have had for a long time. The beer and wine (both red and white) was lovely, as was the sparkling wine and the dark rum. I found the white rum tasted a bit like paint stripper but that's possibly just me and the cocktails came up a bit sweet but I definitely didn't go without that's for sure!!! Troy at the pool bar was great! The lovely Chantal worked so hard to get us up and motivated, if she wasn't in charge of entertainment she was collecting glasses or pulling pints behind the bar - a definite diamond in the team of Mystique! ps she deserves a pay rise!! The evening entertainment was OK but there were not enough comfortable chairs to sit on - it seemed like the hotel wanted us all to go to bed early so they could shut up shop for the evening! We found the tours to be very expensive but they did give us a good overall experience of St Lucia (especially as there was not a great deal to do around our resort). I will caution those eating at the Taste of Hong Kong (Chinese restaurant opposite the hotel) that the food is lovely but we found it very expensive. Spinnakers, just down the road was very tasty and reasonably priced. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay very pleasant - your smiles light up the hotel! …
We stayed at Mystique St. Lucia for the first half of our honeymoon. We stayed in the caribe suite. The room was spacious and clean. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The room was stocked and cleaned every day. The staff was amazing. They were helpful with booking excursions and reservations for us. The pool is very nice. The hotel is located near numerous restaurants, shops, and a Massey’s. The bartender, Troy, makes one of the best piña coladas we have ever had. We would definitely stay there again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were greeted by a much needed delicious rum punch. We knew the transfer would be 2 hours. Our suite was clean and spacious. If anything needed replenishing we only had to ask. The wifi occasionally was not so good and when I told reception they reset the modem and it was fine again. There is lunch served in the main dining room as well as the beach bar which was excellent although you had to wait about 15 minutes for it to be freshly cooked for you. All The food was good and plenteous and hot. The swim up bar staff were very generous and you had almost beg them not to put alcohol in everything. 🤣 they were very jovial. The entertainment in the evening was good especially the fire limbo. The grounds were immaculate and very attractive. Right on the beach so brilliant location. The entertainments lady was brilliant but struggled to get guests to join in any activities. My husband is disabled and was in a mobility buggie but there were good paths. The staff and guests were lovely to him. Our son and grandsons live nearby and we paid for a day pass for them one day which they thoroughly enjoyed. The speciality restaurant, Chic that you had to book was excellent. The only downside was that if you wanted a sunshade with your loungers you had to get up early to bag one. This is not a five star hotel but we couldn’t have been happier. Thank you for a memorable holiday.…
I planned a trip to St. Lucia in the Spring of 2022 for my wife's 50th birthday in February 2023, but our trip was scheduled for March 2023. I was trying to do it all myself until it was suggested to use a travel agent. I did and she gave me a list of properties in St. Lucia. I requested an all-inclusive and a kid-friendly resort for my 8 year old and the list shrank significantly. The Mystique and another resort were suggested. I chose The Mystique. Transportation: First of all be aware that the airport, UVF, is about an hour and 45 minutes from the Mystique Resort. (the travel agent also included transportation) You may not travel on the highway to the resort. The majority of your route will be 2 lane highways. As our driver told us, if there is an accident on the way, it will extend your travel time to the resort. Resort: Once we arrived at the resort, we were met with rum punch and smiling faces. However, our rooms were not ready. Our trip from the airport took about an hour and 50 minutes and we got in around 4:00 local time and we had to wait. I was disappointed because I booked the Jr. Suite, but the hotel policy doesn't allow children on the 2nd floor so we were relegated to a first floor 1 bedroom. My wife wasn't happy, but I wasn't going to argue against their policy. We went to the bar and beach grill. We got drinks and ate some very good food. (try the Jerk quesadillas). About 45 min later, our rooms were ready. Although our room was downsized, it was nice and my son had a rollaway bed. The room was outdated, but the bathroom was very nice. The floors in the bedroom were warped and after you shower, you understand why. There is no ventilation/fan in the bathroom, so the steam/condensation made the walls and floor wet in the bedroom. Our room was supposed to be cleaned daily and towels replenished, but we had to speak to the housekeeping manager because our housekeeper didn't give us fresh towels for 2 days and left the old towels on the floor. The internet is lousy in the rooms. I couldn't get a signal until I walked onto the patio or into the common areas by the grill, pool, or buffet area. I thought it was just my room until someone else in my group told me they were having the same problem. If you want to eat at the sit down restaurant and not the buffet, you have to make reservations a day in advance. The resort sits on the ocean and it is beautiful; however, the hotel's portion of the beach is small with limited beach chairs and you can't lounge in the neighboring beach area. Breakfast and dinner were all buffets. Lunch was only available at the grill so you'll be eating from a small menu daily unless you go off the resort. Speaking of which, we left the resort and walked within a 2 mile radius looking for food or just seeing the area a few times. The resort is in a safe area and we had no concerns. There are numerous bars and restaurants just outside the resort and they were very welcoming. Excursions: The advice I was given by my travel agent was to book our excursions in advance. I used Viator and I had no problems. (they also sent a confirmation by text a day before our scheduled excursion) Something to be aware of is our transportation was Solar transportation. We were told that a representative will be available the next day if we had questions about our flight information and transportation back to the airport. I'm not sure how the discussion about excursions came up because I wasn't around, but she told the group that most of our excursions were not confirmed and we'd have to rebook...and we could with her. Now, this upset the group and she said that they overbook and it is common. One of the members in our group called the travel agent and she verified that everyone's excursion was confirmed. Later we summarized that this was a grift that occurs often. She wanted us to cancel our planned excursions, get a refund at a later date, and she would rebook them for us. We think that she was getting a cut for booking with her through another company. You will also be approached daily by "beach vendors" on the beach trying to sell you excursions. All I can say is if you book with them, you book at your own risk. We booked transportation to the Friday street party which is free. The guy we booked with (Lincoln) was there to "look after us" because the street party is in a not so savory neighborhood, but there were people/tourists everywhere so I didn't feel unsafe. He warned us not to wander off, but he also tried to steer us to certain vendors to eat and drink so he was also getting a cut for bringing them business. We did eat at a place that he recommended, but when someone in the group got a drink from another vendor, he didn't seem happy. Once the street party got crowded, we told him we were ready to leave. He did make sure we got a taxi ride back to the resort. Excursions I recommend: Mud bath, catamaran tour, evening cruise, speedboat tour, rum distillery tour (you taste all 16 rums) Overall: The staff at the resort was very friendly. Nigel was a bartender who we saw throughout our stay and was great. Some of the members of our group had mixed interactions with the staff, but mine were more positive and accommodating. The check-in staff seemed difficult when we first arrived, but by the end of our stay, they were very friendly and helpful. (sorry for this long review, but I felt it necessary to give as much information as possible.) …
My husband and I had a great holiday staying at this hotel There are pros and cons but in my opinion the pros far outweigh the cons. If you are expecting something like Sandals then you will be disappointed. If you are expecting a friendly, warm, fun environment with charm and character then this place is for you. There are so many amazing people (both staff and guests) who go the extra mile to put a smile on your face. Big shout out to the bar staff (Troy, Jonathan, Huston, Nigel and Kenneth) who work tirelessly to ensure you never have an empty glass both day and night. Chantal on the entertainment team is a delight who keeps everyone engaged all day with fun games and quizzes. Ferdinand and Calton who ensure the smooth running of the restaurant always with such passion and kindness along with Andrea the amazing egg station chef who cooks eggs to perfection (seriously, ask her anything). Christophe on the Nexus tour desk in the hotel reception was honest, reliable and trustworthy and gave us some great tips on how to travel around in St Lucia, along with some great recommendations on bars and restaurants. And of course Christophe sold us some really fun tours which we loved (horse riding and private car taking us all over the island). Kevin as part of the maintenance team was always so happy and pleased to see people. Always laughing and joking and wanting to know about your day. There are countless others whose names either escape our minds or we didn’t catch them (including the security officers on the front gate, the life guards and people at the towel station) but everyone as part of this hotel is abundantly friendly and makes you feel exceptionally welcome Food in the main buffet restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner is plentiful and varied. As mentioned Ferdinand runs a tight ship to ensure service is a of a high standard. We always found something nice to eat every day. Mahi’s beach shack is a great spot to grab a burger, hotdog, jerk chicken or some wings at lunch time or a late afternoon snack. Wait times aren’t too long either although don’t leave it too late in the day if you’re in the mood for something specific as popular items run out fast! We ate at the fine dining restaurant Chic once but we were not impressed so did not book again. Service was very slow and the steak was overcooked and chewy. We preferred the buffet! The pool bar is the most fun place to be. Huston, Jonathan, Troy and Nigel all work so hard to ensure nobody goes thirsty and to make sure the party doesn’t stop. Whilst at the bar they will keep you topped up whilst you chat with some of the best people ever enjoying a drink. We made so many friends whilst enjoying a nice cool beer/cocktail! And they make great, delicious and colourful cocktails! Kenneth ensures the drinks are flowing at the evening inside bar too and the entertainment at the evening bar is also great. We particularly enjoyed the karaoke, fire dancing and some of the very talented outside singers who come to entertain you. The beach is beautiful and has the best sunsets. You are just short stroll away from Marie’s Fish Shack and a hike up the mountain (that starts behind the shack) or if you go in the other direction you can take a water taxi to Pigeon Island (highly recommended). Be warned though – sunbeds on the beach go fast but we always seemed to find a couple spare by 8:30am. Some people do reserve from like 5:30am which is crazy. If you are unlucky enough to not find a sunbed on the beach you will almost certainly find one by the pool. Also be warned that there are a number of vendors selling tours and other items. A polite ‘No thank you’ is enough and they will leave you alone. If you do book a tour with a beach vendor ensure you get the best price possible and make sure they do not promise you things that will not happen (i.e. a catamaran tour which is really a speedboat). We booked a tour with Benny’s tours from a guy called Akim who was chilled and not too pushy. This tour was fun but we didn’t book another with a beach vendor. We also took the bus a couple of times to go to Gros Islet or Castries and is a fraction of the price you would pay with a taxi. The stops are near the shopping center but if you're not sure, ask staff where to get it and how to recognise them. Rooms are very spacious and clean. We had a junior ocean suite so the view was quite spectacular. There is both a bath and separate shower and two sinks. There is also a living area with tv, sofas and mini fridge although sadly the fridge is not stocked with beer or soft drinks – only water. We only encountered a few issues throughout our stay but these were rectified very quickly. Our toilet stopped flushing one day but once I visited reception this was fixed within the hour. Also another day the water in the shower was running a little cold and the pressure wasn’t great but other days it worked fine. Sadly our biggest complaint was that this trip was for our honeymoon and not once was this ever acknowledged by the staff. We had told British Airways a number of times prior to departure this was our honeymoon and had also emailed the hotel directly on numerous occasions to ensure this was on our file. I also wanted to surprise my husband with something (bottle of wine, flowers on the bed etc) but every time I emailed and enquired about this I either received no response or a vague ‘Here's a menu of things you can order for the room’ reply which included French fries and strawberries. Not exactly what I meant. We weren’t expecting an upgrade or anything like that but we wanted to feel special having flown all the way from the UK to a paradise but sadly we were not shown any sort of generosity or kindness despite it being our honeymoon. Oddly enough though we met another pair of honeymooners on this trip and to the contrary they received amazing treatment from the hotel so perhaps we were just unlucky. That aside we had a great holiday and I would recommend anyone who is looking to come to St Lucia to be situated in a really great spot with a beautiful beach and friendly people to stay here. No this is not 4 or 5 star but it’s a very clean and happy place where we made wonderful friends and will have long lasting memories. Thank you…
Had a great holiday here, staff cannot be faulted and weather was great...no snow! I have to say some people are never happy, the food was tasty and plentiful, the puddings were to die for and it's a buffet, not fine dining. The hotel is a little tired in places but our room was large and cleaned daily so no complaints there. Do not expect WiFi everywhere but you are on holiday, so you really don't need it. The only one thing I would say on a negative is that there really are far too few sunbeds and umbrellas both on the beach and the pool. Anyway we loved it and had a great time, seems like us brits are more laid back and accepting
This hotel is a little dated, needs to be updated. We have been here for 7 days and they have not even clean the pool, nor our room. The food isn't that great but the staff are amazing. If you don't have something they go above and beyond. We didn't have hot water and they tried to fix it but it just didn't happen. The ride from the hotel is said to be 90 minutes, it took us 3 hours from the airport. Scary roads. It is very small resort. I give the hotel a 2 rating, and the staff a 20 rating. They make this resort special
