We went midweek over winter holiday and had the lodge to ourselves. We had a wonderful time here and our visit was made extra memorable thanks to the lovely owner and her staff. The owner went out of her way to make our experience amazing in spite of road closures within the park which limited what we could do. She kindly helped my children build campfires in the evening, shared an amazing waterfall experience with us and treated us all to a relaxing sound bath before bed. We ate vegetarian throughout our stay and the food was great. Rooms clean and comfortable.
I had some concerns for the Cat Tien Jungle Lodge based on reviews here on Trip Advisor, but of course they are pre Covid and actually written just after a natural disaster at Cat Tien of a huge flood. Knowing this helped me make sense of the difference between my experience of the travelers in 2019 and 2020 and now in 2021. Cat Tien Jungle Lodge was like a beautiful fruit that gets better as you unpeel it. Finding a beautiful place to sit, finding the lovely swimming pool, a shaded place by the river, Information about a bird watching g tour or early in the morning a guided walk through the village in time for sunrise. All these things unfolded. Difficulties with a room u Resolved with grace, and so many eco features quietly just happening, filtered water in the rooms so no plastic bottles, solar power and hot water. Being in the edge of the park, it was easy to come and go, making managing walking, heat, biking, and getting enough shade and rest possible. I loved the food too, simple beautifully prepared local food.…
I had booked to stay here from Christmas Eve until Boxing Day but we left on Christmas Day because the condition of the hotel was so poor and the staff rude and unhelpful. Our first room smelled so strongly of damp we had to move rooms, our second room had ripped bed sheets, smelled of damp and was full of mosquitoes. Spiders nests in the bathroom 'window' and insect nests between the curtain folds. The food was not good and expensive for Vietnam. The complimentary breakfast was very sad. The reception staff was very rude and when we were leaving a day early made no attempt to rectify the situation and in fact tried to get me to pay for the room a second time despite the money already coming out of my account. There is no pool and no spa. No daily housekeeping. No activities or rentals on site. It's like a ghost town. The hotel seems to have fallen into disrepair and little effort is being made to rectify this. …
Food took ages to be ready and was bland and my fresh noodles were far from fresh. Staff couldn’t understand anything and were not motivated at all. For those prices I’d expect more! A real disappointment and compared to the cheap eateries the worst food we had.
After a long day in the park, we decided to treat ourselves with some nice lunch... we ordered the pork ribs for two plus some noodles. The ribs are with 275.000 Dong quite expensive but we thought as long as it is good we are fine with paying a little bit more. Out of the kitchen came a tiny platter with 3 pork ribs and some sliced tomato and cucumber. The taste was ok but by far not enough for even one person!!! We checked with the waitress if this portion really was for two people, and she confirmed. We asked her to send for someone in charge, so the receptionist came to us. He then gave us a discount on the meal (still charged us 206d) and said he would ask the kitchen if there had been a problem. When we paid we asked him what the kitchen staff had said He replied that normally there are 6 ribs on the plate, but for some reason the kitchen was only able to cut three... I have to say that this has been a truly disappointing experience and I definitely do not recommend going there…
We visited the bar and restaurant only. That morning the desk frontman insisted reservations (and orders and down payment upfront) should be made as the restaurant would be full with guests that evening. So we did... Halfway our bar-drinks we were summoned to a our table where all food was already served starting to cool off. Firmly priced mediocre quality food. Hardly any other guests at that time. After having settled the bill our frontman suggested we take up some extra cash with our visa elsewhere. After refusing he walked away clearly irritated. You wonder whether management is aware of all this. An uncomfortable feeling, so far not experienced elsewhere. In all, a place better to be avoided with so many friendly and attentive alternatives in the area.
Please be aware that there is a massive lack of quality in the service as well as in the food and beverages. We made a reservation because the management told us it was going to be chock a block (5 tables were filled in the end) and had to order our dinner during the afternoon. Once all of us ordered their drinks on arrival at the lounge area, and received mediocre quality in combination with beverages not made with love what so ever, we were rudely told to go upstairs because our dishes were already served and were waiting for us. We then sat down around the dinner table and noticed that our dishes were not warm anymore. We as a family talked about the obstacles we faced with the uncommunicative staff during that evening and slowly started to understand that it was probably their lack of training. After having settled the bill, the man at the front desk suggested we take up cash money with our visa card through the help of one of his friends outside the hotel. When we declined his peculiar offer, he then gave us the cold shoulder and couldn't even say goodbye. All in all, an unwelcome and expensive experience to celebrate the 1st of January. …
My friends and I stayed two nights at Cat Tien Jungle Lodge. We had an amazing stay. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The lodge is a minute away from the ferry. All the staff was very lovely, helpful and kind. We paid an additional fee for them to pick us up in Ho Chi Minh City and to take us back there. The two drivers we had were very nice and prudent. The restaurant at the lodge is very good. Everything appeared to be homemade. The owner of the lodge showed us to prepare typical soya and fish sauce to accompany different Vietnamese food. We had an amazing stay!
Arrival in mid-afternoon, and the welcoming was not very attentive. When finally we were showed our bedroom, it was plain, not very clean and located at the end of an unpleasant subterranean corridor. Dinner was much beneath average, especially in a country like Vietnam where food is so good. The place lacks in quality, warmth and cleanliness.
We stayed here one night during a road trip. Everything was excellent, lovely pool overlooking great scenery, good food and comfortable room/bed. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
