Rooms attractive, food nicely prepared. BUT, they advertise that their pool and water park is open daily from Passover through Tabernacles. When we arrived on a Tuesday, we were told that both facilities were only open on Thursdays and Fridays.

Many of the kibbutzim (plural of kibbutz) were the first in offering accommodations in the rural areas of Israel.. over the years the atmosphere and the facilities have gone up in standard, most of the kibbutzim do not offer "home hospitality" but will perhaps give a tour of the kibbutz.. and the guest house is now a hotel.. for good or for bad. In the past the kibbutz members ran the place and worked there in all the branches - reservations, reception, dining area etc.. Now MOST of the kibbutz hotels are independent of the kibbutz and therefore have to be rated as a "hotel" or "hostel" . Shefayim has been renovated and is constantly being upgraded and adding new options. The location is about 20 km north of Tel Aviv and about 15 km south of Netanya making it a good place if you're planning on touring the area.. Kid friendly - spacious grounds close to the Sea and a marvelous water park in the summer for the whole family (not free). The people are friendly and professional.. and for those who are looking for conference facilities outside of the city (so that you keep the participants "trapped" and away from temptation of skipping lectures) Shefayim has all that is needed for MICE !

My wife and I were to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and we decided to spend a weekend away with our children and grandchildren, at a local hotel. After much research we were very fortunate to book accomodation at the Kibbutz Hotel Shafyim. As there were 14 of us and as we required 4 rooms I decided to meet with the hotel's reservation manager in advance of making a booking. He made note of our requirements and we there and then made our reservation. On arrival the reception was most efficient and friendly and we were provided with our rooms exactly as requested. The rooms were large enough to accommodate two adults and two children with space to spare. The rooms were clean and fully equipped. The beds were very comfortable. At reception we requested seating for 14 at a large table and this was set up for us, so that we could all sit together. The booking was full board and the food at each meal was really good with much variety to choose from. The grounds of the hotel are very large so that the children could run around and play ball. Being some 15 km from Tel Aviv the location is good for a rural holiday with easy access to the "city". All in all we made a very good choice with this hotel and will certainly recommend it to friends.

The buffet here is delicious. So many options and constantly being refreshed. There was a wedding outside our room the first night but otherwise a great experience. The grounds are very nice. Wifi is a little spotty. I stayed in one of the single floor houses last time and it was beautiful. The apartment style buildings are a bit dated but still okay.

Hiking the Israel National Trail and stopped in for lunch. Food was good, though selection was small. They had a massive conference on somewhere making the place very quiet for those of us who just dropped in
