An out of the way destination in Fiji. The rooms are clean and tidy but remember this is an island so the only restaurant is at the resort. A meals package is available. When we stayed there a school group was also on the island assisting with maintenance. The band in the bar at night was alot of fun. There is no television or cellphone coverage which was fine by us. Our stay here was a few years back not as listed on the when did you travel so things may have changed
Two nights and three days of relaxation started out with some bad instructions which found us at the wrong place for pick up but a bit of ingenuity overcame it. Accommodation was clean and adequate. Staff were helpful and friendly, mostly local villagers, with island time attitude. Some advertised activities were a non-event possibly due to lack of interest because there weren't many guests. The waters were crystal clear for snorkeling on the northern side of the island and the highlight of our stay. There was issues over billing with quoted prices and actual prices being different so that took some time to sort out on departure. Extra drinks were added to our room bill after we had signed for it. Meals were basic but good. The island has since been damaged during Winston and refunds for deposits due to cancellation haven't been forthcoming so attention to office management and finance were the key issues faced and seems they still are.…
An update for your information: We had booked for July, but received this message on Tuesday: We wish to advise that Naigani Resort has been devastated by TC Winston, and we will not be receiving guests for some months to come, whilst repairs are being made to the Resort. We have advised Booking.com and all online Agents accordingly to please update all their booking systems to reflect our change in operational status. We will advise as soon as we are back online, and ready to resume trading. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Vinaka and warm regards.
You leave with a smile on your face, even with all the mishaps. The Fijian personality saves the day. But owners and managers need to take a serious look at some of the infrastructure, and in particular the management. The rooms are basic and most of them don't have fans that work. We were not the only family to have to congregate in the living room at night to sleep under one fan. We lasted one night and asked to change rooms which they were able to do. I took the fan with me! There are major issues with mosquitoes and flies. But to top it all off, we hired a boat for a fantastic afternoon of fishing...we had a blast. On our last night we had a wonderful fish meal, fresh and tasty! So the next day we asked the chef for her recipe before we collected our hard won catch to take home with us. Surprise! Our fish had been served to all the guests staying at the resort. Do not expect you boat to leave or arrive from the dock on time, we waited 1.5 hours! Otherwise, there are kayaks to use at your leisure, we went around the whole island and it was amazing, took about 1.5 hours. There is also a beach around the left side of the island, we took our snorkels and packed a snack and paddled out...it was beautiful, had it all to ourselves. This is a great location, but the owners and management do not seem to be concerned about the state of the place...it deserves attention...and could be wonderful! Manuel never turned up but Langi and Ben and the boat captain kept us smiling :) …
We stayed at Naigani for 4 nights. Had we not committed to other activities we would had extended our stay at Naigani. The biggest USP of this place is its people, across the board. They go the extra mile in taking great care of you. My kids didn't want to leave this place. Naigani has an excellent dive master (they have 16 dive sites) in Shirley. She is very helpful and ensures that you get the best possible care. All the staffs are great. The place is not an upmarket resort but is a decent place to stay, quite remote. It is soooooo peaceful. We had good swims, went for the mountain hike, island tour, swim at the amazing picnic beach, levuka trip, and island visit. Strongly recommended as we will be back ourselves next year.
