Nigel and Paula are excellant hosts. There is good off-road parking. We were greeted enthusiastically by Nigel, who gave a tour of the breakfast room with views towards the sea and West Somerset Railway line. We were then taken to our room, a family room overlooking Blue Anchor station and a clear view of trains approaching from Minehead. The room was... More

We recently spent 2 nights here. We were greeted by Nigel & Paula and made to feel very welcome. The place is spotlessly clean- I would say that it is the cleanest place we have ever stayed in. The bedroom was tastefully decorated and the bed comfortable, The lounge & dining room were to the same high standard. The breakfasts... More

We spent two nights at The Langbury and it was a perfect break. The room was really comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The welcome is extremely friendly and the information on the area was extensive. The swimming pool was an unexpected bonus.

A genuine hidden gem on the West Somerset coast! Nigel n Paula make your first stay feel like you're coming home. Be aware the access to the car park is steep so if you have a long overhang or tow bar take care. The room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. We were offered a cup of tea on arrival... More

Paula and Nigel are so welcoming and make you feel special from the onset. Their home is very inviting and our large, en-suite bedroom was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and immacuately clean. Personal touches make your stay even more enjoyable and breakfast is delicious! Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and their friendliness and happy dispostion is very... More

We have just returned from a weekend at The Langbury. This was our second visit here and was just a perfect weekend. The title says it all. Immaculate clean room, unbelievable breakfast ranging from full English, fresh fruit salad, cereals etc, etc. and more pleasant and helpful hosts you will not find, although Nigel's weather forecasts were a bit "iffy". The swimming pool was the cherry on top.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Langbury is the large Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentleman's residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor. Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced, breakfast. Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country. We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale National Trust Castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west and the ancient harbour town of Watchet three miles to the East. ... more   less
