Mucumbli is a heaven on Earth. The bungalows are gorgeous with incredible views from the porch. Food menu is extensive and quality is high. Try some of the local wines, they are fantastic. Staff are very attentive, speak English and are very well trained. Get in touch with the owner, Tiziano, before you travel as he organises tours, rents car, give you many hints and tips about travel in the island and speaks perfect English. He can also provide you with a letter of invitation particularly if you are travelling during these hard times and need to provide a proof of travel. Book directly, preferably half-board rate for the best price. On your way to/from Mucumbli make sure you stop at Petisqueira Santola and get their signature crab dish.
Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of my stp trip. Amazing .. loved the manager Catarina and jimmy the guide. The rooms are clean and lovely. Balcony with a view. I stayed in agaia which was close to the reception and restaurant. Every morning and evening they place the name of the room on the table , they prepare everything in advance. Breakfast everyday is a surprise and dinner you can choose from the menu not only Italian but also local dishes. I was completely rested there .. The staff was super friendly.. Even the beach is rocky was nice and quiet. I am coming back
I stayed at Mucumbli with my spouse for three nights. Our cabin Safú was located a little far from the reception building (maybe some 5min walk). The cabin was very cosy and clean. There were some small lizards visiting and also we met a little crab at the bathroom but absolutely no bugs! The sight from the balcony was beautiful. I only wished we would have had a little fridge in there to enjoy some cold drinks. They can be bought from the restaurant if you want to take the walk. Thr receptionist, Catarina is a lovely lady and makes you feel welcome. We received a lot of valuable information about São Tomé. We had a boat trip to the bay of São Miguel. It usually includes a little hike and a picnic but because I'm a little bad walker I preferred just a little beach walk at São Miguel village. The trip/tour cost was 200 euros (total, 2 persons). It was worth every euro. Altough the rest of the trip was excellent I regret that we didn't spend more nights at Mucumbli. You can have all the meals at the restaurant. The main courses cost around 10 euros and they taste awesome. Catarina speaks excellent English and you can get along pretty nicely with even a couple of words of Portuguese with the rest of the staff. Mosquito repellent recommended as there were some flying around (especially near to the beach which was not far).…
Love the garden, deco, food is good Make reservations before you go Prices are ok Fish is good Amazing scenery Funny fact, apparently guides get free meal and commission. So you donot have to worry about your guides meal
