The Shears Inn is a quintessential English Country pub ; friendly staff serving great food and great beer. Excellent draft cider. Having recently changed ownership the place has a reinvigorated feel about it. Ideal for a good Sunday lunch location.

Lovely pub friendly staff and quiet location. The only thing to take into account is the fact the pub opens at 6 o'clock, I was unaware of this therefore when I got there, I found the premises to be locked up and with limited reception , I had to call the pub in order to gain access. This is not...

Admittedly it was late December (Christmas!) but the first impression we had on arriving was gloomy and unwelcoming. The exterior lights in the porch area were not working, and negotiating the steps down to the front door was really not safe. Also, no-one had bothered to sweep the mud from this area, which was therefore getting walked into the hall....

I've eaten lunch at the shears a few times and so suggested it as place to meet friends for Sunday lunch. It has a great rural location, and nice ambiance, with friendly staff. Unfortunately, on this occasion the food was very disappointing. The three of us who opted for roast beef dinner were served stringy slices of beef, cold gravy,...

Came here today with friends for a Sunday roast. The pub itself is beautiful and cosy with a nice atmosphere. But apart from that I would say it's pretty average for the high prices on the menu. We all had Sunday roast! I wasn't blown away with the taste, portion, lack of gravy and limited veg which cost £14.95. But...

Long before the present alterations and modifications The Shears used to be a regular stop-off between home and Silverstone. This days have long since passed but for old times sake we decided to pop in whilst passing, and we are glad we did. Much bigger now the interior was imaginatively decorated for Christmas with a white and silver drapes and...

Restaurant lovely and cosy inside, with a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was disappointing, one main heavily over peppered and duck only luke warm, side order missing altogether. Didn't get a chance to address the issues as wasn't asked if the meal was ok until the plates were being removed, and was a special occasion didn't feel comfortable calling someone...

A warm welcome from the staff at this old worldly family run hotel. We had a nice cosy room with a view, great service and some wonderful food. We have stayed at several hotels in this area and this ranks among the best, especial the food. We will be going back.

Sandra, who runs this superb little inn, has that rare gift of making every customer feel that they are the one person she has been looking forwards to meeting. The welcome is extraordinary. We visited The Shears for our wedding anniversary, eating in the restaurant then spending the night. On arrival the barman greeted us and helped with the luggage. Access...

We enjoyed a family birthday lunch this week. A beautiful pub with very friendly owners. It has a great atmosphere and wonderful all freshly cooked. I had the haddock kedgeree which was perfect for lunch. The house white wine was delicious, shame I could only have a sip- another time. We all enjoyed great food in a lovely comfortable atmosphere....
