Our stay here was awesome we felt welcomed and at home. The property is on the banks of the Mopan River and offers a tranquil atmosphere for relaxing, tubing, or bird watching. I highly recommend this place!
Mahogany Hall is delightful. It is a beautiful property right on the river. You can sit in the little restaurant or on the balcony and watch the ever changing views of the river. We ate in the hotel and the food was good. The staff were all wonderful. Friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. Next time I would hire a car as it is about 3 miles outside San Ignacio where there are lots of restaurants and things to do.
We had an excellent time here. It's beautiful, relaxing and right on the river that you can swim in. Bring water shoes. Jose was very attentive and made excellent drinks. He made us feel right at home, as did the rest of the staff. It is a little bit out of the way from San Ignacio, but we preferred that as it made for a more relaxed, quiet forest vibe. It was easy enough to get into town and the tours were willing to pick us up directly for a small fee. Coming back from a long day tour we were able to have a nice meal and a relaxing swim in the river. Room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
With Belize prices running high during the peak winter holiday season, we were fortunate to have found a large suite at Mahogany Hall for our teenage-oriented family of five. (Room #8 was ample for us - it is above the owners office on the top floor, 4 flights up, with northern and southern views above the tree line) Beyond the welcoming cocktails, friendly staff (Marsha), expansive shared space (pool, entry hall and deck, seating along the Mopan River), the best kept secret is the tubing along the wide Mopan River. Grab one of 4 tubes from the front desk (Jose) and walk up the road 15 minutes to put in just above the rapids (beyond the row of orange trees dotting the road). This will offer you a 30-minute run and dump you in front of the hotel. For more intrepid travelers, you can float for 1-hr 30-min by walking 30-45 min along the road about a quarter mile past the working farm (100-yards) and about 200-yards past the T in the road where Gaia's Way intersects with the main road - just walk through the far edge of the mowed field and the River awaits with 2 cement steps past sloping bank). The casual flow will take you through 4-5 small rapid broken by slow moving stretches. In the late afternoon Egrets fly up the river and nestle in a large tree just before the working farm - truly a memorable activity. With sunset at 5:30pm in late December, plan enough time to ensure you avoid tubing in the dark.…
Mahogany Hall was INCREDIBLE! The location is off the beaten path hugged against the Mopan River. Once you arrive, you are greeted with friendly faces and a beautiful Mahogany foyer that opens up to a gorgeous waterfall pool, a lush garden, and the river. The amenities, service, and condition of the hotel is impeccable. The Monkey Suite is a must! You’ll have a private balcony that opens up to a view of the river (the best view of the whole hotel). The jacuzzi tub was also a really nice touch after a long day of hiking, swimming, and adventuring. Marsha, the hotel manager, was really knowledgeable and helpful in setting up last minute tours. I can’t wait to return to Mahogany Hall!
