Had a wonderful stay at Table Rock Jungle Lodge. The staff are wonderful and friendly, the grounds are beautiful with lots to do -- from walking along the river, canoeing, tubing, feeding the donkeys. And they were great with setting up excursions, so I didn't get to do everything you could at the resort. But what I really loved (and miss), is just relaxing in their hammocks that came with the cabin/lodge -- and the stone shower! Thanks for a great stay!
Staying at Table Rock is an unbelievable experience, from the moment you arrive. Everyone on the team is incredibly friendly and helpful. The food is amazing - multiple options for breakfast; a choice of specials for dinner as well as the regular menu. And a nice selection of cocktails and drinks. we stayed for 5 nights and there was a different dinner menu every night. We stayed in the Rainforest Cabin, which is the original owner's cabin. It's close to the kitchen and restaurant but other than at core meal times, there's not much noise to worry about. The cabin itself is a bit quirky (in a good way) - you certainly know that you're in the jungle, with views directly into the trees, and surrounded by sounds day and night. A very comfortable place to stay. The estate itself is great for walking around and seeing birds and animals. We saw toucans, woodpeckers, aracaris (and more) most mornings and evenings, only walking a few minutes from the main lodge to see them. We took the morning guided birding walk which was very interesting - the main value being that we were shown the best areas on site for bird watching, so we could go back later. There is a private trail across the road which gives you another view of the forest (about an hour's loop) The canoeing and tubing on the lodge grounds was fun, and very easy to do. We canoed to Chaa Creek for lunch, which was an easy 20 minute paddle - highly recommended. We also booked a half day tour for cave tubing through the resort - the guide, Israel, was excellent, and gave us an insight into Belizean life as well, on the drive to and fro. On the way back, I mentioned that I was surprised that Belize didn't have a coffee industry. He offered to take a detour to visit his neighbor who is developing a local coffee industry - and we had an impromptu tour to the Oxmul coffee ranch! (Also worth a trip on the way back from an excursion) We took the local shuttle (Mr Otto) into San Ignacio which was also very easy, He can drop you off in the center of town ($7 BZD), or up to the ruins at Cahal Pech ($11BZD) so you can then walk down into town afterwards. I don't want to single out anyone by name because everyone at Table Rock goes out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether it's the folks in the restaurant who you interact with multiple times a day, or someone on the maintenance team who stops to say good morning for no reason; the front desk team are also excellent.. In all the years I've been travelling, I've never stayed anywhere so consistently and genuinely friendly. You cannot go wrong by staying at Table Rock. We'll be back, for sure…
Don't come here if you're a Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons family. Don't come if you can't endure a little heat or paths that have some inclines/declines. Everyone else -- this place is a secluded jungle oasis. My 20-something nephew and niece and I stayed here for three nights on a 13-day Belize trip. This was our favorite of four lodgings. Staff is friendly, informative, and professional. The lodging food and drink were great, large portioned, and consistently good. All the breakfast options were great, the quesadillas and wraps yummy, and the dinner specials, curry, stew chicken, and pulled pork were delicious. Didn't have a bad meal. You can also refill your water bottles here. The dining area is outside/covered and completely surrounded by the jungle with a plethora of birds (e.g., toucans, mot-mot) and the aroma of ginger plants. Be sure to look for the resident gray fox -- we spotted him one evening returning from dinner. We stayed at the Blue Heron, a river view cabana. Although the smallest of our four lodgings during our stay, it was one of our favorites. It's not air-conditioned, but there are two large ceiling fans and lots of air flow because of the many windows. If it's mid-day, you may be hot (then take a dip in the infinity pool, which overlooks the jungle). But if you're out-and-about, evenings/nights are downright cool (we had to turn the fans off). Fresh bottled water, toiletries, a flashlight, and a cell phone were in the room, and same-day laundry service is available ($10/load). Wifi was remarkably good and there were outlets and USB ports throughout the room (Table Rock is under new management since Covid and the outlets are new). The balcony was secluded, roomy, and a great respite in the evening, with chairs and hammock. We even had our own three cabana bats that hung out above our porch. Listen for the howler monkeys and toucans in the mornings, and the kinkajou and Mexican opossum at night. Be sure to feed the donkeys, hold the rabbits, and marvel at the sour-sop trees and fruit. When ripe, you can pick the fruit right off the trees. We also booked two excursions -- Tikal and Barton Creek Cave -- as well as the local shuttle to San Ignacio through Table Rock. So glad we did! Convenient, seamless, and the tours were exceptional (only us for Tikal and only two others for the cave). Request Jorge if heading to Tikal. Wish we had stayed longer so we could have tubed or canoed the Macal River. Highly recommend.…
This is a delightful resort. There are only 10 cabanas but some a bit larger for family accomadation. Very comfortable and screened windows. Things are spread out somewhat for privacy but this also allows for a sensation of being in the jungle with visits from many birds and small animals. Staff were wonderfully helpful in arranging day trips and transpiration. There is a small pool and canoes and tubes available for us to use on the adjacent river. Our bar host was inventive with cocktails and the food was fabulous, with daily specials augmenting a set menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a 10 percent gratuity on everything but that reduces the pressure to tip all the time, allowing small tokens for special help. The lodge is situated on a farm with fruit trees, animals and hiking trails. A super place for a family holiday or jumping off spot to explore Belize..unBelizable!!…
Everything was good about this place. Setting beautiful and well arranged, rooms quiet and comfortable, staff super friendly and helpful, restaurant/bar incredible ambience and great food, river access with free canoes and tubes is great. The tours they arrange are with very competent guides. We took the canoes up the river a bit and stopped for a drink at Chaa Creek - found it was much bigger and a totally different, less carefree vibe than Table Rock. We definitely made the right choice.
Our family of 3 stayed at Table Rock for one week in February and loved every second! The staff, accommodation, food, drinks and grounds were over the top! There is plenty to do at Table Rock with the swimming pool, hiking, canoeing, tubing and just soaking it all in. Although there were no other children when we were there, our ten-year-old daughter always had plenty to do. The night hike was informative; we got to see and learn a lot. The local community of San Ignacio was fantastic and there are plenty of other off-site excursions to go see and do. We easily could have stayed longer; we were sad to say goodbye. If you like nature and beautiful people, this is a must-go! Our daughter still gets weepy for Lloyda, Blanca and Oscar.
The setting is gorgeous. The lodgings are spacious and beautifully furnished. The food is phenomenal. Every member of the staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful; they are genuinely devoted to making sure you have a great stay. They do a wonderful job of arranging tours (e.g., Xunantunich, Caracol, night hike, bird watching, etc., etc.) There's a nice swimming pool and very convenient tubing and canoeing in the river. The donkeys, bunnies and playground make it all that much better for little kids. My wife and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Cayo. I rarely do TripAdvisor reviews any more, but was moved to do one for this superb location.
Our stay at table rock was amazing. The food at the restaurant was delightful and all the staff were so very friendly. The grounds were amazing to explore. We enjoyed canoeing and the tube floating on the makal river and walking and running about on the grounds. Their pool is amazing for relaxing or lap swimming. Their coffee is to die for and we wouldn’t miss it each morning. The staff provided great guidance for what we might be interested in doing each day and even though we were there for a whole week, we had so many options of things we wanted to do.
The staff at Table Rock are amazing. They all got to know us by name and took care of everything we needed. Oscar the bartender, the front desk, the wait staff, ALL awesome people. The location in the midst of the jungle, along a river, with a nice refreshing pool, made our stay memorable. We really enjoyed taking the canoe out for half a day and stopping at a restaurant upstream. And when it rained, it was super cool just reading on our private porch. The room was clean and stocked with filtered water every day. Loved our experience at Table Rock!
The design, construction and upkeep of the Table Rock riverside chalets is superb, and the grounds are just as meticulously well maintained, including the hiking trails. A rare treat in the world to awake to the sound of nature and listen to the jungle come alive at sunset. As pointed out by other reviewers, there is no AC but during our January stay we needed a blanket at night. Quality of every dinner in the dining room was superb. Riverside trail and trails across the road in the adjoining property are not to be missed. NOTE TO NEW OWNER: Move the bar from the dining room to the lounge above the pool. The sports TV, rap music and assorted other varieties of loud music from the bar detract from the elegant dining room atmosphere and spoil any chance of hearing the animals in the jungle. An additional touch would be to offer drop off coffee/tea carafes at the chalets for early morning wake-up calls. This would allow guests to thoroughly enjoy a peaceful morning start on the exquisite chalet balconies overlooking the river.…
