Thank you Jacob for such a memorable 3 days! We came to Pimenta hoping to learn a few things about Indian cooking but ended up being fully immersed in the food and culture of the region. The Pimenta is a lot more than a simple cookery school and this is down to Jacob's flexibility and attentiveness. Nothing was ever too...

As a solo (female) guest I enjoyed immense hospitality. The dining experience of home cooked, fresh curry , simple and tasty , with others who went to learn how to prepare traditional dishes was both stimulating and relaxing. Our host Jacob, gave us opportunity to explore local trades and understand something of the community and region. My highlight was learning...

Lovely spacious room with a nice balcony looking out over the lush garden. Jacob organised some really nice trips to the outlying areas. Some quirky and off the beaten track experiences - I now know how rubber bands are made! Jacob taught me to cook some local Kerala dishes which I have cooked back here in Australia and my friends...

We immediately felt at home in this paradise garden. It was obvious that jacob went to great effort to tailor the cooking program to our needs. We were always delighted and pleasantly surprised at the fruits of our labour in the kitchen. The recipes, ingredients, curries, chutneys and more all delivered a taste sensation that we loved. It was no...

I had the most magical time staying at The Pimenta. I was in food heaven! Such a beautiful place to stay amongst the coconut trees. Jacob was so thoughtful and helpful. The food was amazing. Jacob selected and adapted recipes to cater for my vegan diet. He took so much time to explain the different ingredients, mostly locally sourced, with...

Thank you for the review. Appreciate your time and energy to do the same. We are really happy you make a review about our strength and weaknesses . Also appreciate that kindness to help a nice thing grow rather than pouring cold water over our enthusiasm. We will definitely walk forward by correcting us also in the fallen area ....

Jacob Mathew, who runs the Pimenta, is a committed foodie, obsessed by provenance and sourcing. He rails against the use of cassia bark rather than organic cinnamon. He reveals who supplies the only coconut jaggery worth using. He travels to Goa to source the right spices. His cookery courses reflect this obsession: they are didactic, detailed and hard work –...

What an amazing find... and the perfect introduction to our first trip to India. Jacob helped us out when two days before we were due to arrive in Kerala our accommodation plans fell through, and we were looking for somewhere a little bit unusual, rural but still comfortable - and ideally with amazing food. Pimenta was all of these things...

The Pimenta cooking holiday was a wonderful experience! I stayed there for five days in February 2015 and enjoyed the lovely bungalows, peaceful garden setting, and excellent hospitality. Jacob, the host and owner, was very attentive and flexible in responding to what I was interested in cooking and what I was interested in exploring around the area. We visited several...

This small scale "retreat" was the **only** accommodation we had in India with proper mosquito screening in the bedrooms. The WiFi is excellent. Jacob's food is delicious and always freshly cooked. The location is very quiet. Jacob prefers Guests who stay several days at least, making for a serene and restful ambience.I might suggest Jacob have a local map ready for guests...
