Detailed Reviews
We had a lovely time here. The swimming pool was excellent the mud bath
seemed not quite right but had a nice Jacuzzi in the same area.
Bed comfortable and nice views from the room.
The restaurant served good food and excellent value.
The town Banya is a bit on the sleepy side ok for a walk but not much else
going on there only a few coffee shops.
Receptionists were always helpful and easy to deal with.

+1
The only advantage - Thermal source, the water is very pleasant temperature so you can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool in the winter. The rooms are on average decorated, but the cleanliness is at an enviable level. From the thermal water, the whole hotel smells like smoked eggs.Breakfast is very poor with a small selection of food, staff are kind but poor or no knowledge of English. For travelers who want to relax an excellent choice, there are even refined massages.(For older generations)

Outdoor swimming pool with hot mineral water /32-33degree/ and jacuzzi. During the week there are few people and is ideal for a relaxing holiday. Hisarya, Karlovo, Sopot, Starosel can be visited around.
Good kitchen at the hotel. The cook Grigorov is a master!

We were at Tsarska Banya Hotel in Banya, Karlovsko, from 07/08/2022. I want to share some negative experiences there. All day noise from the hotel extension construction - banging, flex cutting, concrete mixers, dust. Noise and commotion from the city beach, which is next to the hotel's fence. An extraordinary number of people gather around the pools - especially on Saturdays and Sundays, there are not enough sunbeds. People with dogs are accommodated, even though the hotel website says it's not allowed. People in swimsuits are allowed in the restaurant, disgusting! The hotel is far from the city center and there are countless street dogs on the alley. There is no sound insulation, you can hear everything from the corridor and neighboring rooms. I found a long human hair on my plate in the restaurant and returned the lunch. At breakfast they served some dark brown salami of an unhealthy color that even the dogs outside would not eat. Instead of butter, they give margarine containing 30% palm oil. But once I ran out of lunch – on July 12, I had ordered spaghetti for lunch, which was inedible because it was undercooked, dried out from standing and hardened. I called the waitress over and returned the portion, hoping they would bring me some other dish. Alas, after a while I asked the waitress what was going on with lunch, and she told me that my same spaghetti was being processed! How? I couldn't imagine what the cook would do. I got up and left, despite the considerable sum of BGN 89 that I was paying per day. Don't go there!

Pity to see that everything is left without maintenance and pretty dirty . Changing rooms with no heating , floor cold and dirty and no lockers for clothes. This place should be much better for 20 euro ticket for therms ! I hope that the ownership will change a bit the mentality and make some investment for a better looking place and more modern.

First time at the spa and it's fantastic. James Walker, the manager, has been an amazing host from cups of water on arrival to sorting out everything we needed to enjoy our day. Whilst some areas are a bit dated you wouldn't want everything to be modern in such an historic building. Loved my therapy treatment from the wonderful Amy. Afternoon tea at the restaurant was a bit slower in arriving but it didn't matter as we're here to chill and relax. Can't wait to come back and chill again.

The water is perfect. They have a kind of very hot bath where the water spreads directly from the mountain. You can drink it. They have different swimming pool. A Russian sauna. A Swedish sauna. A steam room. Massages.
They have a nice restaurant with good wines and meals.
The bedrooms are affordable too.
It is a great place with a nice atmosphere.
I will come back!

The restaurant has very limited vegetarian options and from the few listed on the menu half are actually not really available. Staff are not very helpful and become apprehensive when asked questions about the vegetarian options.

The swimming pool with mineral water is good and clean. There is a hotter pool where you could get hot even in colder months. Sometimes it gets crowded at weekends and it is not very relaxed in these cases.
The hotel itself is not luxurious but comfortable for a short stay. Some food items are good but not everything. Try to eat things that are prepared at the moment and avoid frozen items.

We decided to stay in this hotel, as it is the only one has the hot water spring, the plan was to go for horse rides on Botev Mountains from Karlovo, 20 minutes by car.
We stayed for one night then moved to the horse journey for five days, we kept our luggage with the concierge, we came back to the hotel again, we stayed two days more before we move to Sofia.
During our stay we went to the swimming pool, hot water spring and sauna.
It was an excellent choice to stay here, the receptionist were very helpful all the time. Some of the staff might not speak English but the immediately they will refer you to an English speakers, to assist.
I had no time to try the mud bath, sure my next trip for winter adventure I would spare time to try.
