We only stayed one night at the marina on our catamaran. We had a great time at the pool and bar area. It was the NCAA National Championship night 2020 and they kept the bar open as long as we needed -- I asked beforehand. They also gave us the large banquet room for a group of 18 at the restaurant! They even brought in a big screen TV but we could not get the ESPN app to project because we were "out of the country". It didn't hold us back from heading to the bar! The marina has nice showers for transients and the deli area had a fairly good amount of supplies and sundry items for what we needed on the catamaran. It is a nice stop-over in the BVI BUT it is difficult finding a slip and dock space! It is TIGHT!

Dear Douglas P, Thank you for choosing Scrub Island marina for an overnight stay during your recent sailing trip, I was delighted to read that you enjoyed your time with us. Indeed, our luxury resort with Outpost gourmet market, Boaters Republic boutique and waterfront bar and restaurant is the perfect place to stop for a day of luxury during a sailing vacation. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future. Kind regards, Scott McArdle

I completed a stay at Scrub Island which was generally positive. The hardware was not the most impressive but the combination of residential style with the secluded location and facilities made for a hotel where I would return.

While the resort was in a somewhat remote location, our arrival experience could not have been smoother: upon exiting EIS airport a minivan promptly picked us up and brought us to the dock nearby and then it was a short boat ride to the hotel so door to door was less than 20 minutes. Many resorts in the Caribbean are currently overly crowded but this one was definitely not. Scrub Island is a private island where there is nothing other than the hotel.

Occupancy seemed to be quite low, in fact most people we saw were marina guests (not hotel guests) who were allowed to use the hotel facilities such as the pool. There will probably be some development on the island for years to come because they sell land and villas currently under construction but from the main building where we were, the construction was finished so we were not bothered by noise.

I booked the basic room and received an upgrade as Bonvoy Ambassador Elite to a suite which was not only a lot more spacious than the normal rooms but also came with a full kitchen which was very convenient at this resort because there was a small grocery store on site including a fairly wide selection of wine and liquor at grocery store prices, not at elevated resort prices. As it’s an Autograph hotel it was not quite luxury although the hotel is not cheap (used to be cat 8). I believe the price point might reflect the isolated nature of the resort and the quality of the common areas, more so than the rooms which are a bit dated and nothing special except for the views which were nice.

The reliance on the grocery store had its limitations however because they only receive new deliveries on Fridays so as we got to mid week they were running out of lots of items so we bought a few things a couple days before we needed them.

The restaurant had most seating indoors but a few tables outdoors as well which was sufficient given how quiet the restaurant was but during times of high occupancy people might be disappointed to be forced to sit inside. The breakfast was ok but definitely non-luxury and could have used an a la carte menu but it was buffet only with a live egg station.

The hotel had a couple of pools, one with views and one lower down the stairs with a slide. About a 10-minute walk away we could get to a small beach which was also accessible via hotel cart. The beach itself was fine but stepping into the sea would have required some shoes because the floor was rocky. There was another small pool in that location and a bar as well.

Overall Scrub Island is a solid hotel and we liked having the ability to do home cooking and our own laundry while being in something more exclusive and more upscale than a Residence Inn or a Marriott Executive Apartments. If I did not receive a suite upgrade I would possibly feel differently because the non-suites do not have a kitchen and then it would be necessary to rely on F&B at the hotel which was not a strong point.

I brought by then girlfriend (now fiance) to Scub Island to propose. The whole experience was amazing and was treating by all the staff amazingly. Dornelle and his staff were so nice and caring. We stayed for 4 nights but wish we could've stayed longer. I strongly recommend getting a scrub slide or pain killer drinks! The room and beach were beautiful and the concierge was super helpful with booking excursions!

Luxury is defined first by service, and at Scrub Island Resort it’s the norm to be passed by an employee without any sort of acknowledgement. Anyone can slap “luxury” in their title and try and get away with it, most naive travelers without real luxury experience would be wowed by the views and “private island” feel. But if you dig a bit deeper you discover all the flaws. At best it would receive 2-3 stars only because I feel generous. At check in my last name was spelled wrong (details matter). Our room had a dirty bath tub, paint peeling from the walls, hair on bed, and sandy floors. We asked to be switched to another room within an hour of arriving and the front desk didn’t seem to care but did eventually move us. The food is basically the same from breakfast to lunch and dinner with slightly different presentations. The least luxurious experience to our stay is that a boat charter company uses the same marina to host week long charter guests. These same charter guests who don’t spend anything on room nights get to use the resort pool (as paying guests) all day and night and camp out early with all their water toys, alcohol and bags making the pool seem crowded and not private or exclusive to paying guests.

Overall scrub is a waypoint for charter guests looking to spend the entire day drinking their own beer and wine from coolers while using up all the amenities that paying guests should be enjoying.

The beaches are ok, nothing worth writing much about. What’s even more embarrassing is that they post a spa photo on Twitter with wires and light missing from the ceiling, no attention to detail. See my attached photo. If they can’t get a twitter photo right what makes you think it’s four diamond?

We were guests at the Marina. The restaurant and bar service was deplorable. The food quality was average at best. They did comp a round of drinks given the 90 minutes it took to get hamburgers and fish and chips for lunch.

The pig roast buffet was average and WAY overpriced.

The facility is in poor repair and needs a LOT of attention. This is a 2.5 star resort and that is being generous.

We are amazed that Marriott allows their label to remain on this place.

The following two days, we stayed at Lemerick Bay resort which was 60% the price, with FAR better service and tremendously better food quality.

We stayed at three hotel/marinas and one hotel during our weeklong stay in the BVI and this was definitely the worst and the most expensive.

Let me preface this by saying that we did not spend the night inside the resort, but purchased day passes as we were on a sailing trip and sleeping aboard our boat. We sailed through a storm to arrive after a couple of days of rough weather and seas and were so relieved to arrive. The day passes are very reasonable and you get access to all of the amenities. We used the pool and hot tub which were wonderful and clean. Swim up bars with friendly staff and good drinks and food. Showers at the Marina could use a little work- not sure if they are currently being renovated, but one shower was broken and the one we used had exposed wires and a hole in the ceiling where the exhaust fan should be. But overall, a nice facility and a hot shower. The grounds are all well maintained, and the marina is beautiful. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate dinner at Cardamon and Co, their more upscale restaurant which was pricey but very good. Would love to stay in one of their villas sometime.

We loved our time at Scrub Island Resort. The rooms were very nice and the staff were exceptionally friendly. There are 2 restaurants and we highly recommend them, though Cardamon is quite pricey. Do wish we had gotten a surprise upgrade to the villa like our friends did!

We had a four hours to kill between our day diving excursion and night dive but didn't feel like heading all the way back to the opposite side of Tortola to our hotel, so we decided to spend the afternoon on Scrub Island. Only a quick 10 minute boat ride to the island (provided by the resort), we spent the afternoon eating a wonderful meal at the Scrub Island restaurant and longing by the pool. The pool and vibe of the resort was a nice change from the more action/adventure packed Tortola experience we were having, but I don't think it wouldn't have been worth staying over night.
We didn't travel to the BVI's to stay at a resort, so this was a fun pit stop during our travels. If you're on the northeast end of the island and have a few hours to kill like we did, I would highly recommend visiting!

We planned an 8 day trip that turned into 9 days when a leg of our return flight was cancelled. This might be the only time in my life I was not upset with an airline's service.

We had a first floor Governor's Suite one bedroom accommodation (Building 17) at Scrub Island. The rooms in the suite were huge; the two patios and their views were magnificent. The kitchen and washer/dryer were great convivences, as was the general store with food items right next to us.

We were very impressed with the assistance and friendliness of all the staff on site. At other places we have visited, we have felt that the smiles were forced and just part of corporate policy. At Scrub Island, the warmth felt very genuine.

We are not fans of ship or resort food, but we have to say that, at Scrub Island, the food selections were delicious and (possibly our only complaint) were too large to finish. The Wednesday night beach outing was a delight for both food service and entertainment.

The pools and hot tub were perfect. The small marina beach was enjoyable (the gallery photo on the resort website does not show the current state of the beach -- much smaller than the status in that photo). The North Beach felt like a private beach just for us on the days we walked over with only later arrivals (and not many of them) taking up a few of the beach loungers. The food service at North Beach was also very good. I will note that we chose not to use the shuttle service for North Beach and made the very easy walk (disclosure is that I'm 78) over and back on the days we used that beach and enjoyed the photo ops for the views as we made those walks.

Arrival and departure was smooth and well-handled. All in all, a wonderful experience.

Booked 4 nights at the Scrub island resort after 7 days of sailing around the BVI.
It was a welcome visit and treat after spending 7 days at sea and on a 40ft CAT.
The resort is beautiful and the king suite we reserved was perfect. Full kitchen and fridge, dishwasher; 1.5 baths; nicely appointed bed room and balcony overlooking the marina.
The TV didn’t work in either room which was perfect cause I didn’t want to face reality. When it did work it was one channel spread out over the 15 choices or so.
We additionally booked a couples spa at Ixora. Million dollar view and experience. Well worth the $$. Book in advance.
Only complaint are the pools. Way too small and crowded for a resort of this size. If someone was loud you got to enjoy their conversation and the later the day got, the louder the guests got.
Dinner at Cardamom was a hit. Expensive but good quality. Same with lunches at Donovan’s Reef. Only issue was most of the red wines were out of stock and the only bourbon they had was Beam but to be in paradise I am not going to complain.
Staff was super friendly. Cynthia seemed to be our server when we ate and she was so friendly and helpful. Could not say enough about her. Every staff member we met at Scrub Island was helpful and went out of their way.
The free ferry to Trellis was nice but make sure to book a taxi to take you somewhere else cause Trellis was not great. We went to Cane Garden Bay and loved it - especially the rum distillery.
Resort fee is pretty steep at $30/person. WIFI is spotty and kicks out at times. Gym is very nice. Free rides around the island and to the north beach and of course the ferry are all part of this fee.
Overall a wonderful place to end our visit and glad we made this part of our plans in the BVI.

Are you asking about did at the local market or the restaurants? At the restaurants, the meals start at about $25 USD and go up to $60. The upscale restaurant is another $50 or so. The market has sandwiches & pizza for about $20-30. Groceries aren't marked so I'm not sure what they cost.
