This place is great lots to do and see and great eats and day trips all around whether u want a weekend or seasonal stay everyone is so friendly and it’s a very peaceful park. Alaways fun activities for the whole family.
I come here fairly often to visit family, however I have been trying to book a park model for a family function. I have left several messages to which no one has replied, and I've messaged on social media where I was told they would answer my query in the morning. That was 3 weeks ago and I am still waiting. Super disappointed. I am fine if they want to tell me no or to give me a reason they don't have an answer, but just leaving customers hanging like this is extremely rude and unprofessional.
My family went in Labour day weekend, it was one of the worst camping experiences I have ever had. There were no activities planned for the kids, and the few they advertised didn’t happen (woody wagon) the pond is disgusting and the bathrooms I don’t think have ever been cleaned . The manager has no people skills and is down right rude. Every time I was out walking I would see her visiting with people at the end of the g section . The people she was visiting with were very loud and disruptive so I thought maybe she was getting them in trouble . Realized that no she was partying with them . So if you need help with anything that’s where I would look first for her ..
We have a 38ft Fifth Wheel trailer w/toy hauler. Getting in and out of the site was easy. The sites for transient - are large, W/E/S and at the back of the park away from the seasonal trailers. Our view in one direction was a nice wooded forest area, and the view in the other direction was a corn field. Of course, there were other trailers, but separated by small trees. It was SO QUIET. Having a fire, relaxing and watching the stars - was amazing. The very friendly lady at the front desk was great. So nice to be greeted with such enthusiasm. We will definitely be back next summer!
We spent a lot of time researching RV parks near Stratford ON for our first ever camping trip in our new camper. Our 12 year old grandson was traveling with us so Woodlands online ad sounded perfect. It boasted paddle boat rentals, bicycle rentals, arcade, ten lane dart board challenges, and more. The grounds were very lovely, and the trails through the woods were fun, but...there were no paddle boats, bicycles, darts or arcade. THis was a good lesson for us not to trust ads and to always confirm directly wherever you book to confirm all services available. In fairness to this resort we did travel at the end of the season, but the paddle boats and bikes, and arcade did not appear to exist. Bottom line, confirm prior to booking.
Very rude service. Booked at Woodland Lake RV Resort a month in advance, drove over an hour to get there on Labour Day weekend just to be denied access at check in because we weren't 25. No where on their website or confirmation email did it tell us we had to be over 25, so after asking why this was never pointed out on the website or confirmation email prior to our arrival, we were very rudely told by the manager "I don't care, it's my campground and my campground is not a party campground". After a very frustrating conversation with the rude manager, we got our money back and booked at Silent Valley Campground in Ayton, wonderful park with fantastic service and very friendly people. Had a very relaxing stay, we played cards, went on a few walks but mostly spent our time cooking over the fire. It was a nice quiet getaway - all that we wanted, highly recommend Silent Valley!! …
Located about 20 miles from Stratford, this remote campground is quiet, but is predominantly seasonal, some of which have been there many years. Check-in was quick and efficient, with the staff being very pleasant. We were assigned a 50 amp, full service pull through in "P" section, which is at the very rear of the campground. Interior roads are gravel and while not in perfect condition are reasonably well maintained. With a 41' 5th wheel and F350 dually we navigated the roads easily, although it is tight in places. The site was also gravel and was fairly level. Easy entry and exit from the site. The power supply was close to the front, so we had to park the coach at the front. All services were good. Could not pick up a satellite system due to the trees in front of coach. Distance between sites is good and they have well maintained grass. Wifi signal strength was good and bandwidth acceptable, except at busy times. They have good facilities - playgrounds, lake, beach, pool, sports field, etc. Lots of trails for walking through the forest and around the lake.…
I'm struggling with whether to give them a 1 or a 5! I booked online through CareFree RV (Now Sun RV) in April 2016 for a 9 night stay from July 1 - July 10th. I booked a waterfront site (which was more expensive) I never received any confirmation. I figured since the season doesn't open till May they will process it and send it later on. A couple weeks out from our trip I searched my email for the confirmation to find out check in time etc. I also wanted some info on their pet policies and on general camp info (Eg. events going on during our stay etc.) so I email them and asked some questions and let them know I hadn't received any confirmation. I had checked my credit card statement and I was charged for the reservation so I figured they had processed it. I received an email back saying "Hi Sharon, will do." Two more weeks went by and I hadn't heard from them. My trip was coming up in a few days. So I went to their FB Page which said typically replies within a couple of hours. So I messaged then and waited a day. Then I messaged them again. They replied that I should call for assistance. I called and got voicemail so I left a message asking someone to get back to me. I waited another day, then I emailed them again. This time I got a reply with a copy of my confirmation but the dates were wrong. They had be arriving a day earlier and leaving a day earlier than I had booked. I replied back saying the dates were wrong and they never replied back. I also msged them on FB again and they told me to call the office. I replied that I had done that and no one had gotten back to me and that my trip was now just a day or two away and I was worried I'd show up and they'd tell me they gave away my spot because it was for the day previous. They read my message but never responded. I then received a call from Sun RV. Not sure why or how they got my info but I said I need help! and they were able to modify my reservation and resend me a copy. The copy said I was over charged and would receive a credit of around $35. My 12 year old daughter commented to me that they don't see to understand what "customer service is" - pretty bad when a 12 year old can figure that out but they can't... On July 1 arrived at the campground - hoping there would be no issues. Lady at the front (the main one) was not very nice. Very short with me. Wouldn't answer questions. Seemed irritated that I was there. Only after asking was I able to get what I needed (wood, and an entrance card). I was never given any info on events nor offered any other info like a normal campground would (eg. location of showers/laundry/garbage/hours of pool etc.) In the process of getting the confirmation via email earlier I'd found out we were on L13. I looked up the spot and it was not waterfront. When I asked the Sun RV people about it they said that there were no waterfront spots available. That's because only seasonal people have waterfront sites - so don't waste your money booking a waterfront site. I also was not given the credit indicated by Sun RV, the receipt I was given by the front desk showed the full amount - I plan to contact Sun RV to ask for a credit for the difference on the confirmation they sent me. So that's the bad.... most of it anyway. The only other complaint was the site they put us on L13 (and that would include the other three around it) are right in the middle of a field where kids go to play. There is NO Shade. Not even a bush! and NO privacy!. If it's hot weather bring some kind of sun shade. There were other spots in other rows that looked lovely (nice and large with shade) but for whatever reason we were put out in this dessert of a spot. The pro to it was our kids could play in the field right behind us, and it was very close to everything - beach, laundry, washrooms/showers, fishing dock. The pros: It's a nice small campground with tons of ammenities. For the most part the residents (and most people are summer residents) were friendly and well behaved. There was one trailer that was pretty loud the first weekend but quiet the second weekend. The pool is NOT heated even though it says it is. The lake is small but great - Don't expect any rental boats we looked and looked and there is no place to rent one there... bring a blow up dingy or floating raft and a paddle that's really all you need. Fishing is aplenty! My daughter was in heaven. It's like wall to wall fish. They had fun activities (we had to look at the board by the gate), like bingo and a fishing derby. Playgrounds are up to date and the kids enjoyed them. They have a splash park but it was never once turned on. The kids loved swimming to the floating dock and going down the slide. Would I go here again? I don't know. I think I'd want to get a shaded site. Probably row E or D (There were empty sites here). The kids had fun. The place was clean I never saw dirt anywhere. But the front desk is awful. Oh and we never saw any "hayrides" that are supposed to happen! I'm not sure if I'd go back. I think I'll likely keep looking for something similar but better run. I hear there's one down the road called Family Paradise. Not sure what it's like but I'd probably try it before going back. Wifi Sucked!…
We visited this past Thanksgiving Weekend with my parents on one site, and my partner and I on another. We were in the pull through sites at the back - all the sites back there seemed reasonably well groomed, and because they're all on an angle, you're a bit offset from your neighbours which is nice. All but a couple of those sites were full hookups. Strong water pressure, no issues with sewer or hydro. We took a tour of the rest of the campground, and I could see how if you were on what used to be a seasonal site, how it could be overgrown - there's some old trailers in there, so if it'd been sitting a while the trees would have grown in around it, and if you had a tall trailer, it would be an issue. Definitely ask to be in the "P" section when booking! It was of course too cold to swim, but the pool looked nice and beach was decent - though the "lake" is definitely more of a pond. We had friends visit one day, and their kid loved the big playground, and the dog park was nice and big. There was also lots of horseshoe pits and a game hall with darts. Lots to do if you were with kids and on season camping. Staff was very helpful. Replied my email within 24 hours, already had my booking started by the time I called I back, were very accommodating when we needed to request a possible late check in. We had a good time, but don't think the on season rates are worth it, so next time we're back it'd be in the shoulder seasons again. …
To my fellow rv’ers, or anyone for that matter here is my 0/5 review of Woodland Lake RV park in Bornholm Ontario. On July 29th, 2015 I called to book a site for September 4,5,6th, 2015 . When I called the office to reserve, the person that answered the phone asked me how big my trailer was. I told her 29’. She then promptly booked me a site, told me the total for 3 nights would be $192.50 and that she was putting it through on my credit card that day. Fast forward to today. In preparation to leave we took the dog to the kennel, packed up and set out with lots of time between feedings for my 9 month old. We were camping with 2 other couples and were going to meet them there. We get to Woodland Lake at shortly after 3:30. We get told we are on site G20 and will need to park our trailer parallel to the road instead of the traditional back in. We head to G20. On our way there, there are multiple trees hanging so low that they scrape along the side of our trailer. We get to G20, and get out to have a look before backing in. The lot is very short and not very deep with a fire pit directly in the middle. There is a large stubby tree along the back, sticking right out where we need to manueover our truck to back in. We can tell this is going to cause a problem. There is also a large tree on the next lot has low hanging branches, but even though we are pretty sure we aren’t going to fit, we try. My husband begins to back in as I am standing behind the truck trying to guide him. I ask him to stop because the tree branch is hanging so low he is going to run into it. I then climb up the ladder on the back of our trailer to push the branch above and out of the way. He gets out to see what I am doing and climbs up as well. Nope this is not going to work as the branch would have either ripped the rubber roof or got caught on the air conditioning . We get back in the truck and head back to the front desk. I explain the situation and the person at the front desk says that her head office has just told her that a seasonal site F25 is ready to rent out so she will put us on there. It should hold a 60’ trailer. She also said she will have a pull through site available, but not until 9 pm because someone called to cancel, but they forgot to write down their name so they are unsure what site will be free until 9 pm! I would think that “what is your name” would be one of the first things I asked when someone told me they were cancelling, but then again, I don’t work here. I remembered that one couple we were camping with said their site was F something, but I could not remember the number. Now we have to turn around, not that easy in a truck with a 29” foot trailer on the back. The entrance is now blocked with trailers and the overflow parking is blocked with vehicles sitting there talking. So out on the road we go and down a country block to find a place to turn around. According to the park map this new site F25 is on a dead end road. Before we commit to going down a dead end road, my husband gets out and walks ahead to check out the site. He quickly comes back and says well I see a lot that looks like a bush, and I don’t see our friends. I go have a look too. This site was worse. The grass was very long, a bunch of stumps and logs half way back and there were trees on either side of the lot. These trees have branches that are so low and overgrown that if I stood between them with arms outstretched I could touch them both. And we are expected to park a 29” 5th wheel between those? And do it without scratching both the trailer and the truck up? I don’t think so. We are pretty die hard campers and camp in the bush lot with no hydro and I will tell you, not once have we scratched our truck and trailer going in there. Not once in 10 years have we left a campground due to the sites being unsuitable. But we were definitely leaving now. Story not over…….. On our way back to the gate, we run into one of the couples we were to be camping with. They asked us what was wrong as they saw us go by 3 times. We explained that G20 wasn’t suitable so they gave us F25 which was so overgrown we never would have made it in. Our friend tells us that they were the first couple to arrive and once they got set up they went to check out the site the 3rd couple was to be on…..it happened to be F25…..the site we just came from!! She said she knew it was horrible and even called the 3rd couple at home and told them to call and get a different site before leaving home because F25 was not suitable at all. She also told us that when they came in she told the person at the front desk the names of the 3 couples and that we were all together. So that person at the front desk tried to give us a site that someone had already complained about!! I could not believe that. It is now about 4:30. We have spent an hour screwing around trying to find a site at this campground that already has our money. My daughter is getting hungry. I go into the office and explain that no one could fit on site F25, not even a tent trailer due to the overgrown trees. The response I got was: we have booked an arbourist and paid $10,000 but we cant cut them down when cars are here. My response: Then don’t book sites and take peoples money if you know the sites are unsuitable. We are leaving as you have no suitable sites for a trailer our size, and you knew the size when we booked it over a month ago. The woman agreed to a refund, and actually looked like she expected me to say thank you. I did not. Long story short, after $40 wasted in fuel and an hour driving around a campground looking for a site that was not overgrown we give this campground a big fat 0. Oh, and my dog is still at the kennel…..which I will have to pay for as well.…
