Plitvice Lakes is a magical place where the perseverance and the power of water, the unbridled greenery and pristine nature beautifully intertwine with a promise of peace and quiet. Situated in such an ambience, in an exclusive location within Plitvice Lakes National Park, is a hotel with a special atmosphere that owes its name to this unforgettable corner of nature – Hotel Plitvice. Thanks to its carefully chosen location, Hotel Plitvice is situated in heart of the oldest national park in Croatia. Only 200 m away from the hotel, there is a bus station and the entrance to Park visitor zone. You will be able to enjoy the splendour of the park even from the hotel, which has a spectacular view of a small plateau amidst the park. THE WARMTH AND ELEGANCE OF A PROTECTED CULTURAL MONUMENT The hotel’s exclusive location is only part of its charm. The rest of its appeal lies in its history. The hotel was designed by the renowned Croatian architect Marijan Haberle and constructed in the period from 1954 to 1957. At the time of its construction, it was the first A category hotel in Croatia and beyond, and it is today considered one of the best architectural designs among public buildings of the post-World War II period. This architectural gem has been included in the protected cultural heritage list of the Republic of Croatia.

The hotel is conveniently located near entrance #2. The staff was very helpful. Clean, comfortable facility but no elevator (only 3 levels, however) very nice breakfast, but no restaurant for later meals (there is one in another hotel 5 min walk. The staff arranged a small van to take us up to the bus-stop on our departure.

Hotel's Favorite
I agree entirely with Pedrocorreto. We chose this hotel for its wonderful 50s design amidst the wondering setting of the lakes national park. We indulged ourselves in a suite which was an oasis of calm. Solid and unpretentious. Sadly there is no air conditioning but opening our balcony door helped. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean. The staff are extremely pleasant and could not be more helpful. The buffet breakfast includes a good selection of hot and cold food, tea and coffee and service is with a smile. A recent decision - post covid- has been not to open the restaurant for dinner but there are options nearby. Regrettably there are plans to reduce the number of bedrooms and turn it into yet another 'boutique' hotel starting the end of this year. My advice would be to GO NOW! and to take advantage of seeing the waterfalls before the day trippers arrive - i.e. at before breakfast at 7am and after 3pm.

The Hotel is very conveniently located within the park area. We had booked a junior suite but were an upgraded to a senior suite which is a very spacious room with the views of the park. Will try and take any room with a view of the park. The hotel staff is very friendly approachable and helpful in every way possible. Feel free to ask them anything and they will guide you

We stayed for one night in a lakeside junior suite after a long day of visiting the park as we didn’t feel like a two hour drive to any of the major cities after all the great hiking and we weren’t altogether sure how long we’d be at the park. Things to know: -its pretty basic and the last renovation was in 1996 so expect a bit of a time capsule -there’s no AC-heat only but you can open a window (no screens)-not an issue in late September but could be a challenge in summer -breakfast was included in our rate -VERY clean and tidy and nothing seemed overly worn, just dated bathrooms and furniture -they have an on site restaurant or there’s a path (5 min walk) to the sister property and you can dine there (Jezero hotel) -there’s some parking but not a lot -you can walk to the park entrance from the hotel which is nice -the price was fairly low in keeping with the 3-star stature -beds were futon-like and a bit soft for me -fair amount of audible noises like doors slamming and water running despite very low occupancy during our visit-rooms NOT sound proof -supposedly a renovation is planned in 2023 so stay tuned but as always do your research before choosing Bottom line: perfectly adequate for 1-night stay after a long afternoon visiting the amazing park.

We stayed here in September and the place is pretty basic/dated but has everything you need for a couple days stay. Maria on front desk was a delight she was so kind and helpful! Breakfast as a vegan was basic but at least there is toast and jam and fruit! Go early to breakfast as that’s when the fruit is fresh and more plentiful! If you eat everything there seemed to be a lot of options hot and cold. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping the place clean and of course it it a perfect location to the hiking and lakes

Just above the lakes so perfect access for walking; good breakfast; exceptionally helpful, multi-lingual staff; spacious rooms. No elevators, a/c or wi-fi in the rooms (good wi-fi avail in reception area and terrace) but the hotel is soon to be renovated (late 2022). Property is heritage listed so reno will be sympathetic to the era. Very grand.

We stayed here while on a Rick Steves tour. I have stayed in communist era hotels in Romania, so was not surprised by the grand size and openness of the foyer and rooms, nor of the steel, formica and wood decor. What I was surprised by was the cleanliness of it all and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Our room was at the end of the hall on the second floor. It was a large bedroom with two beds, a closet and safe, a large bathroom with shower, and a large deck. As mentioned, the tables, drawers, etc. were all low, teak veneered and the chairs and fixtures were polished metal. It was quite comfortable and we slept well, listening to the thundershowers outside. The only issue was that the room was overheated for our liking and there was no thermostat to adjust the temperature. We left a window open while at dinner, and came back to find mosquitoes in the room. After dispatching them, we opened the window only slightly and made sure the opening was covered well by the curtains. In this way the temperature was manageable. Dinner was at the Belvedere Hotel nearby, and was buffet style and quite good, although the desserts option consisted off dry cakes. Breakfast was at the Plitvice and was up to Croatian standards; lots of pastries, cold meats and fish, veggies and fruit, eggs, sausages and bacon, and very good coffee. I would recommend this hotel.

This place is a gem. If in North America this would be marketed as mid-century modern masterpiece. Yes the carpet may not necessarily be in current fashion, but it has been recently renovated, and if you just look at the place and think of the context in which it was originally built, the place is fantastic. On top of that, the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, and the location could not be better- this was one of the most beautiful parks I've been to in the world- very unexpected. If you're comparing it to your newest insterstate-side Holiday Inn, you're looking at this place the wrong way- it's a gem.

Stayed at this hotel as part of a tour group in October 2019. Was an older hotel in the National park itself so close to the lakes. Breakfast was good. Didn't have dinner in hotel due to Convention being held there ???? Was told to eat out at nearby restaurant which was a disaster.

This might once have been a luxury hotel in Communist era Yugoslavia, but today it is showing its age. The style is very much that of a 1960s Soviet era building, attempting grandeur but doing so in concrete and brutalist fashion. Given the beauty of its setting this is a great shame. However it is perfectly located for visiting the lakes which are stunning. So if you are just looking for somewhere to rest your head at might after a day of enjoying the lakes then this is fine, just don't expect much in the way of luxury, facilities or food options.
