This is a really cosy backpacker to me, I felt like home for a few days. The place is more like a big shared house, doesn't really feel like a backpacker. There's two living-rooms, a backyard, good kitchen, plenty of books. A lot of furnitures, kind of old but very convenient. I had a four-beds room, and what I like... More

I checked in to this hostel as a walk-in. Despite not having a reservation and being fully booked.the staff was accommodating and found me a bed in one of the rooms. The Hostel has two lounges and a full kitchen with appliances. The kitchen and bathrooms were well maintained and towels are FREE!! The wi-fi worked fine and overall it... More

It's more like a shared house than a Hostel. Many people stay multiple weeks while looking for accommodation and work. Very social, great community, always someone to chat or to join you for activities. Of course there will always be someone to party with if you are up for that - but if not, you'll have a great time as... More

Great hostel, but more like a big sharehouse than anything else. Very easy to meet people as their are great common areas. It is also in a great location, close to Smith Street which is full of great bars and cafes. Highly recommended!

This hostel is by far the best one I've been to in Australia. There is a great atmosphere, which makes you feel like home from the first day. I've stayed here 2 months and I really enjoyed my time. It is definitely a place for people who want to stay in Melbourne for longer because once you arrived here you... More

We stayed at this hostel for more than 3 month and had a lovely stay. The hostel is in a very good area, where are a lot of good bars, cafes and parks. It is a very small hostel which had never been fully booked out while my stay. Most backpackers stay for longer and everybody knows each other. It... More

Collingwood backpackers, a nondescript brick building in the heart of north suburban gentrification. The building funnels people from all different walks of life -- artists, students, seasoned travelers -- into a share house type living space. Adventures happen spontaneously and organically. A night at St. Kilda to see the penguins, or maybe a day at Victoria park playing soccer, perhaps... More

The hostel is a bit outside of the city centre, but everything is within reach by tram and bus. It is clean and comfortable, the rooms are nice and the three big common areas are the meeting point for all the guests. And for me that is why I felt at home right away! Most guests stay for longer and... More

Before staying at Collingwood accomodation I was unfortunately subject to paying for United Backpackers hostel and its staff that stole from my kitchen bag.. Fortunately I had booked a new hostel shortly following this and settled for Collingwood accommodation. Upon arrival, the hostel felt more of a home than a business which was immediately a more positive vibe. Everyone was... More

Asthmatics/those averse to smoke beware. Smoking is encouraged here. There is no common space to enjoy if you actually care about your health and being able to breathe. This is just unacceptable to me personally, and the reason for the low rating. (The owner is welcome to this choice, but I really feel it should be made clear on hostel... More

Anti smoking activists who hate cats probably would not like our hostel, however, most guests enjoy the company of our 2 cats and do make use of the extensive outdoor courtyard and balconies to smoke rather than be put out onto the street like a leper. More
