We had stayed at Sunport back in 2018 and 2019 and fell in love with the location. There is a lovely beach, and you are steps away from the main drag where there are a couple restaurants, shops and an arcade! Unfortunately, Sunport itself was pretty shoddy and outdated. The interior of the suites and some of the water and children's equipment were not well maintained. We were told that "improvements" would be coming in the future. So we managed to ignore the rough shape of the suite and enjoyed our time outside and exploring Tiny and Balm Beach. We decided at the time to not return for at least a few years in hopes that the place would get fixed up. We returned this Summer (2022) in hopes of seeing some improvements but were sorely dissappointed :( The small appliances are ancient, dirty, broken and flat out dangerous to use, beds are equally old and/or broken, the plumbing is backwards (hot is cold and cold is hot), and our stove didnt even have a nob for the oven! It's in desperate need of a major renovation! Needless to stay, we will not be returning to Sunport and are looking into other accommodations in the area.…
We absolutely loved our vacation at Sunport! Within 2 hours of being there we inquired about booking a week for the following summer! The property is beautiful with a soft sand private beach and clear warm waters. We never had a problem finding beach chairs or an umbrella. We loved using the variety of boats and toys available for our toddler. The park is fantastic for kids and the BBQs are so well looked after! The accommodations are clean and comfortable and nothing fancy, but that doesn't matter because you'll be at the water's edge all day. We looked for so long for a hotel with a kitchen and a separate bedroom (which comes in so handy when traveling with children!). The kitchen was well stocked with lots of plates, dish soap, dish towels, scissors etc. We just loved this gem of a hotel and can't wait to return next year! Thank you to the wonderful owners for all your hospitality!!! …
We stayed at this resort during summer 2020, I have only had time to review now. The location is stunning & close to all the Balm Beach restaurants and activities- as descried on the website. Beautiful views, etc. Staff were very friendly. However we would not stay again unless the rooms get a full upgrade. I had seen somewhere the resort had been recently renovated- the outside yes, but not the rooms. I didn't manage to sleep for 5 nights. The beds were very old and uncomfortable, lumpy etc. They squeaked so every time one moves, you are woken to this - it kept my young child up too. The fridge was loud, the fans and air con (in the main bedroom only, so did not cool throughout unit) were loud and people walking up and down the walkway by the rooms were loud. A group of people near us would stay up late drinking and nobody stopped them, again keeping us from our sleep. There was no sleeper couch in our unit as advertised. The kitchen was not equipped well - 2 mugs and we are a family of 3, 1 cutting knife which was blunt, 1 oven tray which did not fit in the oven, etc. Just frustrating. The TV was an old box one from the 90s, not a flat screen as advertised on the home page of the website- mu husband was not happy. The Wi Fi did not work in the rooms, as advertised on the home page of the website, which meant no Netflix evenings which we had looked forward to and little to keep the kids entertained on the rainy days. & huge costs in data to research things we wanted to do, etc. The BBQs on the beach didn't work well at all. The beach is not nearly as big as it appears in the gallery on the website. The childcare is not really that - its one guy (lovely guy, studying to be a teacher) who will keep the kids entertained but doesn't really watch them by the water or take them off your hands for you. In a nutshell, the owner is lovely and I wish this resort well but I don't appreciate the false advertising. Its not cheap, we did a lot of research to decide where to stay and this was a huge splurge for us, but we didn't get what we expected based on the details on the website and were very disappointed,…
Absolutely love Sunport beach resort. Have been twice and will be back next summer. Wonderful, family oriented place, great for children. Carolyn and her son Sebastian are lovely and took my son out sailing a few times which was amazing!!
We brought our two children (age 9 and 16) to this resort and had such a great stay. In addition to the lovely accommodations, the scenery, the friendly staff - there was so much to do at the resort and literally within minutes of a walk. It is such a beautiful area - a little gem. You can see the pride in the rather new ownership - lots of improvements underway - didn't interfere with our stay though - made us want to come back next year and see the changes/enjoy it all over again. Likely an annual trip for us.
Sunport Beach is all you need for a family getaway. Clean accommodations with fully equipped kitchens and BBQs for outdoor cooking. Beautiful beach with lots of fun water toys for all ages including SUPs, kayaks, a climbing wall and volley ball nets. The resort is within proximity to Toronto, less than 2 hours. Carolyn, the owner, really cares about making your family stay enjoyable and memorable!
very friendly and accomadating. Clean and beautiful views all day! Would likely stay here again should the need arise. Construction in progress when we arrived but was not affecting our stay. Great place!
We have stayed there for five summers. One of the best vacations ever!!!!Walking on the beach and collecting rocks. water fun games for the kids. Walking to the arcade. Lots of fun for all age groups.
New owners are amazing. They are welcoming. It feels like family when we go there. Kids are safe ad can play on the playground or on the beach. Volleyball, badminton. Access to all paddleboards and boats all day. Staff is really nice. Fresh towels each day and rooms are clean.. Love this place! We go every year!
Nestled in Balm Beach area (up from Wasaga Beach) this is one of the many places to stay. Family friendly with play area for smaller kids, rope swing and water toys for bigger kids. Fire pit for campfires and 5 BBQs and picnic tables for guest use. Each unit (they are small but have beds sufficient) has small kitchenette so you don't really have to leave. Towels are picked up daily too. The supplies in the kitchen are varied and not extensive - plan to take a few essential items with you. Staff are friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again and with a family, Balm Beach over Wasaga by far!
