If you want peace and quiet in a small village in the Peak District, this B&B is ideal. For us the bonus was that it served a vegetarian breakfast - excellent quality, organic, ethically sourced food, the genuine concern of Jay and Christian, the owners. This charming couple made us very welcome and gave us lots of useful advice about...

We were two couples, stayed two nights to do some hill walking and explore Bakewell. Sheldon's Retreat was perfect for us, we loved the gorgeous décor and the friendly owners, and particularly the delicious vegetarian breakfast. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and well appointed. The shower in particular was very good. Sheldon is very small with one pub...

We stayed at Sheldon' Retreat for four nights and enjoyed its peaceful location and friendly and helpful owners. The B&B is a vegetarian household which, as non-vegetarians, made no difference to the enjoyment of our stay. We had a small double room which was well equipt, but a little confining. We struggled rather with the TV but would have had...

Not a flowery chintz in sight. Thank the Lord. well put together and great vege breakfast. a must for anyone in the vicinity of the Bakewell-Matlock area or exploring the Derbyshire dales. Lovely garden, nice village which is over 100 feet up so no mobile signals. PEACE!

We booked the Sheldon's Retreat at the last minute, after finally deciding what we wanted to do over the half term break. We were not disappointed! This bed and breakfast is a real gem. It is set in the small village of Sheldon, just outside of Bakewell and therefore it is a great location for commuting to many attractions. As...

We were given a really nice warm room on the ground floor with a private entrance. The owners are lovely and helpful people, served a fantastic breakfast and arranged an impromptu bicycle lock up on arrival. Perfect! Can definitely recommend to veggies, vegans and non veggies!

Set 1000 feet above sea level this stunning converted barn is the ideal place for that getaway- from- it- all break, and the perfect position for a walking or cycling holiday. The village of Sheldon is like being in a village of yesteryear with chicken wondering up to you completely unafraid, a dairy farm with that wonderful fresh smell of...

My friend and I spent a very peaceful 5 days in the Peak District!! This B and B was perfect to come back to after a day walking. Delicious breakfast all organic, homemade breads, their own eggs. Quiet location, friendly people. Local pub ok for evening meals. Comfortable beds and clean shower room.

This is a small guesthouse in a tiny village surrounded by the Derbyshire Dales. The room was comfortable and immaculately clean. The decor is fresh, modern and with nice little touches such as home made bags of fragrance. The bed was a standard double and very comfortable with a lovely thick, substantial mattress. It isn't a foam mattress which accounts...

When my boyfriend and I booked Sheldons retreat we were a little surprised when we later found out it was a veggie B&B and there was a bit of a delay in answering our emails so we were a little apprehensive about our visit. However when we arrived we had a warm welcome, the room was very comfortable and the...
