We loved this place! It is not possible to book rooms in this hostel so we were a little bit worried of not finding a place so we planned to arrive early in the morning, but when we arrived we realised there was no need to worry as there was plenty of space. The rooms are basic but clean and...

You can't book a bed space in a Gatliff hostel. This has a plus side that there is often a space for a tired traveller, which is exactly what they are there for. Its not luxury, its just what you need. A hot shower, a warm sitting room, congenial company may well join you and the bunk style bed is basic...

We visited South Uist in May 2016, it is such a beautiful place and would 100% recommend a visit. We decided to 'wild camp' on the island rather than use hostels or hotels, and pitched up about a mile away from the Howmore Hostel down on the beach. We went into the hostel on our first day to enquire about...

Comfortable accommodation with plenty of clean showering and toilet facilities. Lots of good kitchen facilities. Friendly and relaxed. Good location. If you're in Lochboisdale this is a 12 mile walk away, or you can call a Taxi - just go to the Lochboisdale Hotel at the ferry port and ask them to phone a taxi for you. You can also...

Sadly stayed at Howmore for just one night during a cycling tour of the Outer Hebrides. Thought it was one the best and most comfortable Hostels we stayed in on our trip. Very comfy Mattress and Pillow. Warm and Quiet room. Modern kitchen and cosy dinning area. Shower ok, hot enough and functional. Its not the biggest Hostel. Very easily...

A perfect end to a fabulous week: Scotland's summer at last! We had a midnight walk on the beach to hear a gentle sea, and see the Milky Way and shooting stars. The coal fire was so cosy, and was beautifully smoored to spark into life again in the morning, after a night of peace. Sad to leave Uist once...

Stopped for one night on a cycle tour of the Outer Hebrides and used the camping option to the side of the dorms. The hostel itself is lovely and the kitchen area is very good and modern. Showers and toilets very clean. Unfortunately got eaten alive by midges when putting the tent up and taking the tent down but that's...

Great hostel, recently refurbished. Showers and kitchen to a high standard. I didn't camp as it was very windy and coming from the west so would have been quite exposed. But it's only £14 for a bed. Superb location, ideal for walkers and cyclists like myself.

Camped here twice (on non-consecutive nights) while cycling. For a small fee (I think £9) you are able to camp in the hostel garden and use the facilities. This was particularly good on my second stay, as I was able to pitch behind the hostel out of the wind! The kitchen is good and the dining area was lovely and...

Bunk room accommodation, a well-equipped kitchen, showers, all clean and well-organised - so all the functional things you need in a hostel. And a great location, Not being able to book in advance was an advantage for us, we were cycling and wanted to be free to change our itinerary as we went along.
