- beds and pillows are comfy
- there is solar panels and the fans worked throughout the night
- the local staff are friendly, professional, fun, and helpful
- The cooks from the village are amazing!! Best catfish ceviche ever!! - - Breakfast is 0630, first activity is at 745 am to around 1030, lunch is at noon, rest period/free period from 12 to 3 pm, afternoon activity is 3 to maybe 530 pm, dinner at 7 pm, and evening activity is at 745 pm.
- wifi is limited to an hour a day but trust me, when are you going to be back in the amazon jungle again? Enjoy it without your wifi :)
- This company is on the border of protected land so do not expect them to give food to animals to coax them near. The idea is to observe, learn, and respect wildlife in their natural habitat

- Bring a book, download books, but they have a couple books to read, some print out sudukos, some games ect...

Maybe a bandana for sweat, 2 of those neck cooling things, comfy closed toed shoes, some comfy sandals, UV hat, mineral/reef safe sunscreen, big/comfortable to carry water bottle, head lamp, binoculars, bathing suit (water is safe to swim and it was lovely!! The pirañas did not bite lol)

Washington, District of Columbia, District of Columbia, United StatesIf you are journeying out to this part of the Amazon, Muyuna is an excellent choice. It has nice luxuries at an affordable price point (in the context of a VERY remote and inherently challenging location - adjust your expectations!): fans in every room, real beds with good quality bedding, very well kept screens for all their buildings that help keep the bugs out, solar powered lights, shower toiletries including hair conditioner, hot water during dry season, and even a limited bar. The food was tasty and varied, and especially impressive given that it all had to take the same long trip we did to get to the lodge. The level of service was truly amazing - our group had a single knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide with us all weekend, and all the staff goes above and beyond to keep things organized, safe, and cater to the guests' needs. I was impressed with how tidy the place was, given that you are literally staying in open-air huts in the middle of the jungle and guests are tramping in mud and water all day! This vacation definitely pushed my boundaries and would not have been so positive were not for all of the care given by the Muyuna staff.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Muyuna for the 6D/5N experience, and we were so sad to leave. Everything from the excursions & staff to the food & accomodations was absolutely perfect.
Each day was packed with 3 incredible excursions that allowed us to really see the Amazon jungle. Among other things, we saw pink dolphins, anteaters, frogs, cayman, half a dozen species of monkeys, and thousands of beautiful birds. The most memorable excursions for me were the night walk through the jungle, the evening spent catching (and later eating) piranhas, and the afternoon playing volleyball and soccer at the local Amazon village (a ~100 person village which many of the staff members grew up in). Many of the guides lived their whole lives in the Amazon and are experts of the jungle. They can custom tailor your experience to the types of things you want to see or do-- a couple we met came specifically for bird watching, and was then matched with a guide who was an expert on local birds. I was constantly amazed by our guide, Francisco, for both his ability to spot camouflaged creatures a hundred feet away (see picture of the tree bats) and for his ability to recognize any species soley by noises alone. Walking through the jungle with him was a remarkable experience, as he was able to tell us about any plant, fungi, or animal we came across.
In terms of the food and accomodations, both were much better than I was expecting. The chefs cooked up a delicious combination of local dishes and "regular" food. My girlfriend usually hates seafood, but even she enjoyed the fish dishes! The beds were high quality and the rooms were pretty well-sealed from bugs; the cleaning service also does a deep clean every day to remove any bug that might've skipped through the cracks. We slept well every night, especially since we were always tired out after each long day of exploring.
Finally, we actually had a chance to meet with the owners of the lodge, and it was obvious how much they cared about the lodge. Not only as a business, but also as a way to promote preservation of the jungle and as a way to teach others the beauty of nature and the Amazon. Muyuna is an amazing tour company, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone planning on visiting the jungle.

As it’s not a thoroughly “comfortable” experience, a visit to the Amazon can be polarizing.
The experience is most suited for people enthusiastic about spotting exotic animals in their vast natural habitat and those who are well aware of and accept the fact that you will need to brave conditions like innumerable mosquitos, cockroaches (night walk) and high humidity.
That said, a few night’s stay here will reward you with seeing and holding wild caiman, seeing a sleeping anaconda (not guaranteed), pink and grey dolphins, piranhas, unique birds and different species of monkey. It is also quite something to just sail through the Amazon river of “lettuce”.
I would recommend Muyuna Lodge to anyone keen on exploring the Amazon. Of the options I’ve researched, they provided the best value in terms of price and offerings. Food was tasty, rooms are spacious, staff were friendly and Roger, our guide, was invested in making sure we saw all the animals we set out to see. We did not mind that there was no air-con. It gets very cold at night - to the point that we switched off the ceiling fan.
It is worth staying a few nights here to ensure you see all that you want to see (we only saw the anaconda on our 3rd day).
Ahead of your stay, bring repellent with high DEET content (more than 30% if possible) and a jacket thick enough to fend off bites. You may also want to opt for a mosquito head net.

The location, accommodation, facilities, guides, meals, support of all staff (from Iquitos office, transport to/from and at the lodge) ensured the successful fulfilment of my lifetime ambition of an adventure to the Amazon and its rainforest. My gratitude is especially owed to the lodge management and guide team who facilitated me partaking of the opportunities to explore even though I had gained a back injury on my way to Peru which inhibited my ability to walk far. The relaxed but professional attitude of the team and comprehensive itinerary of activities enhanced my pleasures of the lodge, jungle and river. Through the local team, especially my guide Francisco, I gained so much knowledge and awareness of the region and its people. The principles of using local construction materials, employing local staff, using local produce and having an overall environment friendly operation was wonderful to be part of as a visitor to this sensitive and crucial part of the world. Thank you for the experience!

It's an understatement to say that our stay at Muyuna was unforgettable. So often when we travel, we are herded through one tourist trap after another. Staying at Muyuna is an authentic adventure, whilst still offering comfortable accommodation and absolutely excellent food. No crowds, no lines, no red tape, just incredible sights and experiences. Search on YT for Muyuna and maybe you'll find my travel video with some of those beautiful sights.
Our guide, Julio, was incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. We were taken care of every step of the way, and vegetarian and pescatarian members of our group were provided with equally superb gourmet meals. If you want to see the beauty of the Amazon, you could do no better than Muyuna!

We just returned from our 2-week trip to Peru which ended with a 3-day stay at the Muyuna Amazon Lodge. The staff is extremely friendly and our guide, Julio, was excellent. Our family of 4 started with a day-hike through the jungle near the lodge. Being rainy season, there were a fair number of mosquitoes. Repellent has minimal effect against the mosquitoes. We asked Julio to end the hike early due to the mud and mosquitoes. Without asking, Julio then arranged for a nice boat ride so we can cool off and gain some respite from the mosquitoes. We greatly enjoyed the boat ride with the great views, breeze, and catching the sunset with some bird watching and sighting monkeys. The rest of our trip was quite enjoyable and full of unique experiences including spotting pink river dolphins, swimming in the Amazon, piranha fishing, and a night jungle hike. The food is amazing and special requests can be made and are accommodated by the staff in case anyone has dietary restrictions of food preferences. Only issue was the return boat trip and shuttle to the airport. We had to wait about 90 minutes from the time we returned to Iquitos with about 20 people crammed into their tiny office. They could've arranged for a more seamless transport from the lodge to the airport. Otherwise, highly recommended and a great value.

First you fly into Iquitos in north east corner of Peru. Accessible only by airplane or boat, this formerly wealthy town is located in headwaters of the Amazon River - an equal distance from Peru’s borders with Columbia, Ecuador and Bolivia. Then you transfer to a shuttle bus and drive 60 kilometers from town, past roadside shacks to a small village called San Joaquin de Omagaus where the road ends on the banks of the Amazon River. Then, you transfer to a river tour boat powered by a 60 HP Mercury engine and head north up the Amazon River for ½ hour, then turn east and ascend a small creek past the hamlet of Paraiso and continue upstream for another ¾ hour along a narrow creek to Muyana Lodge (S 4 17.86 W073 16.90) – a remote location located deep within the Amazon Rainforest. The Lodge was our home base for six days and five nights including a night of camping at a site located further upriver and deeper into the jungle. Despite its remote location, the lodge is very, very comfortable. Queen size bed, clean linen and towels, a normal flush toilet, hot & cold running water, shower, mosquito netting, hammocks on the front porch.
Knowledgeable guides will take you in the jungle by day and by night, on foot and on boat. You will see the flora and wild animals and do the jungle tours exactly as specified in their brochures and on their website. When you are done, you will have no fear of the jungle as you will know the sounds of the various creatures and how to recognize them.
Meals are first class, home made and based on local cuisine. Wine and beer are cold and very reasonably priced. Tour guides and resort staff will treat you as part of their family, take you to their village and the local school and ensure that you fall in the love with the place as we did.
Definitely the better choice of the other jungle lodges in the area because the river flowing past the dock at Muyana Lodge is clean enough to swim in. In the other lodges, the river water is brackish and stagnant. You would never know that until you get here.
And don't complain about the absence of internet and cell phone service. You came here to get away from that noise. Just enjoy your life in communion with nature in the rainforest.

This beautiful lodge offers everything your heart desires: in the middle of the jungle in complete seclusion lies this oasis. The whole complex is very clean, tastefully designed and environmentally conscious. The spacious bungalows leave nothing to be desired and are super sealed against mosquitoes. I would like to especially praise our guide Edgar. Friendly, prudent, and safe, he proudly presented the jungle and the Amazon to us on all the tours. He knew exactly where and when we had the best chance to see animals and gave us a lot of information about them. Considerate and always with a helping hand, he helped me especially to overcome all natural obstacles and to find the best ways. Many thanks especially to Edgar! All the staff at this lodge deserve very high praise! Their friendliness, care and attention are incomparable. I especially noticed Andres, the cheerful barman here. He was always there and very helpful.
The food at the lodge is also first class, very varied, tasty and lovingly presented. You can simply relax here.
The only thing that bothered me a bit were the loud engines of the boats. With electric drive you could hear the wonderful sounds of the jungle much better and not scare away the animals. Maybe it is technically feasible in the near future.
It was an unforgettable time for me and if I have the opportunity, I will be very very happy to come back!
Best regards from Inka

We visited Muyuna in May 2021 and it was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Peru! Muyuna was easy to work with and very fast to respond leading up to the trip. When we had last minute flight changes they were able to change our pick up location and time to accommodate these. Leading up to our arrival at the lodge, they were professional, helpful, and very informative.
Our stay at the lodge was just as amazing. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have very comfortable beds! Staff went out of their way to attend to any needs we had and make sure we were comfortable. The food during our stay was amazing as well. And finally... the expeditions! Our guide Moises was amazing. He was very informative and able to spot things we would have never seen. He made sure to answer questions and offered options of activities when possible. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend Muyuna to anyone!

Sorry I only just saw the message. No you do not need Malaria for this area. They tell you that when you get there unfortunately but Doctors will tell you to take it as a precaution.
Yes, in the living room and in your room.
The owners are hands on . I would make contact through the contact section of their web page, you won't be disappointed.
When I went to Muyuna Lodge, I payed for everything in one package. Whether I chose to go fishing every day, go on a jungle hike or just hang out in the bungaloo, it was all paid for. I assume it is still done this way. Perhaps somebody else can shed even more light on this question if I am wrong. Hope this helped!
I don't believe they have a per night rate. They offer vacation packages wether it's two, three, four or five night stays.
