Bedroom 1 ~ Swallows Rest is a boutique style ground floor room that combines luxury and comfort with a spacious ensuite shower room and private west facing patio. Bedroom 2, Haven is a sumptuous boutique first floor room with en-suite wet room. It has a sea view and large private west facing balcony where you can relax and unwind or stargaze under the Northumbrian dark sky. Birdsong Cottage is a perfect location for guests attending weddings and events at venues such as Ellingham Hall, Doxford Hall, Doxford Barns, Charlton Hall and Newton Hall. Hosts were extremely welcoming. We felt really comfortable and the cottage is in a fantastic location to explore the surrounding areas such as Bamburgh and Alnwick. Richard has a lot of knowledge of Northumberland and is happy to advise and direct. The breakfast is really nice too. Overall, very enjoyable stay and would recommend to anyone.

Stayed for 3 nights in the Haven room ,this is s a room with sense of luxury, from super comfortable bed with lots of special touches including a coffee machine with various coffees . Fresh milk is made available in fridge in room, because of where it is placed , there is no problem with noise on a night time.
The wet room is spacious as well as having an outdoor balcony space , which gives a special dimension & is a little sun trap when the sun is out. Sadly due to the weather when we visited we didn’t use it much for relaxation or star gazing . The room was exceptionally clean & all Covid guidance is adhered to.
Breakfast is ordered the evening before & delivered to the room , if you have never had a ’stottie’ before , you will be in for a treat filled with excellent quality bacon & or sausage .
As we were celebrating are wedding anniversary, we ordered a special treat of cava . Richard & Sandra the owners & are there if needed & knowledgeable about the area. There are some local pubs around 10-15 mins drive away from b& b . It is best to book beforehand. The b& b is well placed for exploring this beautiful area of coast or countryside

Had a fabulous 3 night stay in this B&B. Great for exploring the local area. Our room, The Haven was on the first floor, and spacious. The room is beautifully laid out with everything to cater to your needs. bed was cosy and comfortable. Breakfast is delivered to room at your requested time, was delicious and adequate for our needs Our hosts Richard and Sandra were very attentive and have a great knowledge of the area. A wonderful special place to stay. If we are ever in the area again we’ll definitely be back .

Stayed her last year and re-booked immediately. Lovely rooms with lots of nice touches. Complimentary chocolate bar and Pringles on arrival. Nespresso machine in room, good selection of tea and coffees, daily caramel shortbread in room and fresh milk replenished daily in the fridge. Breakfasts are excellent and slightly different from the usual standard fayre. Richard and Sandra are very friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. In a great location for a base. Yards from the A1, though you wouldnt know it. Would definitely recommend

Such a comfort to stay at a place that exactly fits the description on looking for somewhere to stay.
Greeted by the hosts who guided us through the accommodation to our spotless room which had a welcoming table of coffee machine, tea, shortbread, Pringles and a fridge with milk & bottled water. The bed was v.comfortable and the bathroom spacious with a variety of shampoos and body washes in case you had forgotten to pack them!
There was a tick-list to complete for breakfast that included bacon stotties that to eat were absolutely delicious - my wife also enjoyed the kiwi fruit/blueberry combination.
Two peaceful nights were spent at the B&B and could not have wished for a more pleasant stay, which we would not hesitate to book again & would throughly recommend (already have), to anyone.

My wife and I had the most delightful stay for two nights. The location was ideal as a base for exploring Northumberland. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming as well as attentive to all our needs to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The accommodation was kept spotlessly clean and adhered to the Covid 19 cleanliness regulations. The breakfasts were served to our room and the locally sourced produce, choice and cooking were brilliant. The room had a balcony and a sea view at the other side. The bed was so comfortable and supportive. Overall everything was catered for and we would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We plan to return in due course.

Had a wonderful stay here whilst exploring the Northumbrian coast. A boutique style room but with lovely personal touches such as homemade shortbread which was delicious with coffee from the Nespresso machine in the room. The room had a lovely balcony with recliners - perfect for relaxing in the sunshine at the end of a busy day walking. We arrived late Sunday afternoon so Richard kindly wrote us a list of local pubs that served food on Sunday evenings. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Firstly - apologies for the late review!
We stayed at Birdsong for two nights in August 2020. Before we arrived, we had a phone call from our hosts asking for an approximate arrival date - very friendly! When we arrived we were greeted outside, safely, by our hosts as well.
This BnB is well connected by the A1 being nearby, and is only a short drive to so many beautiful places like Bamburgh, Alnwick, Lindesfarne Holy Island etc.
We were given the lowdown about the room, where to find things, how to order breakfast etc. All contactless! We stayed in the ground floor room which was nice and spacious. It was nice a cool seeing as we were staying in high summer and the bathroom was big and clean as well.
Bed was super comfy, clean and the room was filled with all the amenities you could need for free. I was worried about whether I'd be able to hear the A1 traffic from where the cottage is, but I didn't hear anything when going to sleep.
We filled out a form for Breakfast which was delivered to our door in the mornings. Our hosts recommended the stottie cake with sausages and bacon and they were delicious!
I cannot fault this place and I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a base for your Northumberland travels. Thank you!

An extremely well ran B&B immaculately clean throughout. Amazing small touches make for a very relaxed stay away from home. Richard & Sandra are the perfect hosts, very helpful if you need any information about the area.
Delicious breakfast left by your door at the time of your choice, we were in the downstairs room with a beautiful tropical type terrace to enjoy your breakfast listening to the birds sing.
A highly recommended B & B which in our opinion could not be improved upon as every detail has been thought through.

Little bit reluctant to review Birdsong Cottage only because we feel like we found a little gem and want to keep it a secret! Beautiful little cottage with only 2 rooms. Our room was beautifully decorated with a spacious en suite and patio doors leading out onto a private patio area. Thoughtful little touches made the room special such as a proper coffee machine,fridge with individual little bottles of fresh milk, shortbread and a bar of chocolate. Richard the host came to greet us and is a really nice friendly guy and he gave us tips on where to see on our travels the next day. The breakfast is pre ordered the night before and delivered to your door the next morning. We ate breakfast on the patio and it was very nice. Bacon or sausage stotties, yogurt, granola and pastries. Although Birdsong Cottage is adjacent to the A1 it is a little haven of peace and quiet and is ideally situated to explore the beautiful Northumberland Coast.
