2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
Combine Italian passion, with Balinese decor, all set on the Caribbean island of Grenada, where the locals have the biggest smile = Laluna. Set in a secluded bay, with only 16 cottages scattered on the hillside. Each with their own private veranda and plunge pool. Laluna oozes romance in an intimate setting with a Bohemian laid back vibe. Italian restaurant with Calabrian roots. Sunset Bar & Lounge on the beach with Daily happy hour and signature cocktails. Wellness Center with an Asian Spa with Balinese therapists and complimentary yoga at our yoga pavilion on the beach and Technogym gym. Sculpture garden in The Enchanted Forest = Art + Hospitality. Laluna is either your cup of coffee or it isn't, especially if you take your coffee with a shot of rum.

My husband and I went to Laluna for our honeymoon 20 years ago. We loved it then, but I’m not sure we appreciated it at the time! We returned this past August to celebrate our 20 year anniversary and could not have asked for more. We stayed in the beach cottage and felt like we had the place to ourselves (there may have been a couple of days we were actually the only people there!) We loved our French press coffee on our deck each morning, had amazing breakfasts and dinners every night, and loved lounging on the pool steps while reading! We paddle boarded up and down the coast line, stopping for lunch several days. I cried the day we had leave. I was inspired to write a review today because we just booked a long weekend at the end of the summer again. I cannot wait 20 years. Thank you to the Laluna owners and incredible staff.

We picked La Luna because it was so unique. We loved the individual cabanas (turn down service was always a treat), with the mini plunge pool and outdoor shower and patio area. It was relaxing and beautiful. The beach is small but very nice and the pool has a great view. Staff are great, and it was convenient to have the restaurant onsite. It isn't the most convenient location but we didn't find that we paid for a taxi any more than other hotel folks and it was worth it anyway. Definitely recommend for something nice and different.

Words can't describe how magical this place was. From the amazing sunset views, to the delicious food to the amazing drinks and friendly staff, LaLuna was the perfect place for a romantic honeymoon. My wife and I stayed 5 nights, and it was amazing. Our villa was on a hill and our semi-outdoor bathroom had a view of the ocean. Imagine taking a shower looking out at the sunset before dinner... The villa was very nice, romantic and comfortable. Dinners were special. The seafood and Italian dishes were amazing. We ate breakfast and dinner there every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. For adventures in the water, they have kayaks and other gear to borrow, and we definitely recommend taking advantage of the beautiful Carribean sea. We took a kayak to the next beach over for some beers and fish tacos. If you are looking for "Sandals" or similar resorts, stay away. LaLuna is not a club, not a party atmosphere... LaLuna is a quiet, romantic resort where you can lay out and read a book with a good drink, then take a dip in the ocean, then go to an amazing dinner. We saw maybe 10 other guests there at a time, max. It is a little off the beaten path, which makes is all the more special. You won't be able to easily walk to many places or other restaurants, but trust me you won't want to leave.

We have never been to Grenada, but were looking for something different. We had some friends go about 6 months ago, and after seeing their FB pics, we knew it was a great fit. SUPER staff! Cannot say enough... Easy and quick ride from the airport. The only negative was the Spa was closed during our visit, just bad seasonal timing, as I believe that is not the norm. We did go to Silver Sands Spa, and had a nice experience based on their recommendation. If you want quiet, chill, beautiful with above average food... you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I decided to do a quick trip to the Caribbean, and after hearing about Grenada and the laidback feel of the island, we knew we wanted to go there. We did some checking and picked Laluna, we were not disappointed. Upon arrival we were offered to sit and relax in their lounge by the beach bar. Urban (as we came to know him from our Happy Hour sessions at the bar) welcomed us with a rum punch, and we were hooked. Our stay was complete relaxation in a beautiful setting. Loved our room and chilled out on our veranda. We booked a Deluxe Cottage that had a garden view and spent time watching the nature that surrounded us. Thank you to the rest of the entire staff for making our stay so special. From the massages, to yoga, food and drinks. We will definitely be back.

We hate crowds, and more so, big busy hotels, with houding beach vendors trying to see you their stuff every 5 mins. Well la luna is the opposite of what we hate when traveling. From the amazing staff, to intimacy of the hotel and the other guests, to the secluded feel of the bay where the hotel is located. My wife loves yoga, and went everyday to the hotels complimentary classes, in a covered platform facing the beach, taking along her yoga mat that is in the room. Sometimes she even practiced on our deck that leads from our bedroom. This place is a true gem for us. We will return.

Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium member with over 2000 nights and 23 years at platinum. Stayed here for 5 nights in September 2022. I used 212,000 Bonvoy points to pay for entire stay. Expedited airport check-in The expedited airport check-in was flawless. We walked off the plane onto the tarmac and a rep was holding a sign with our names on it. He grabbed our carry-ons and whisked us away in a golf cart for a short ride across the tarmac to an air-conditioned room with comfy seating. The staff then took our immigration forms and passports and managed the paperwork as we sat relaxed with bottled water and rum punches. When done they brought us to our private taxi that took us to the hotel. From plane to hotel took about 30min. The cost for this zero stress reception was $160pp each way ($640usd total). Upon departure, we had our own private room to wait in, with wonderful service from Curlin. He made us great rum punches, and we had a selection of snacks choose from. Well worth the cost, especially for departure. Check-in We were greeted as our taxi dropped us off. They took our bags, brought us to the bar area where we sat on comfy couches. They took our paperwork, and offered us rum punches. We relaxed for the next 30 minutes enjoying the drinks and the views. After check-in formalities we're done, they drove us via golf cart to our room. We were given a tour of the room and were informed about the complementary water, coffee, tea and the items that were additional cost. There was one electrical outlet where we were able to plug in our adapter that gave us all the charging outlets we needed. While the check-in covered the essentials, it lacked in two areas: not mentioning our anniversary nor my titanium status and obligatory welcome gift. Two weeks before our arrival, I reached out to the hotel and arranged for two days of spa treatments, one off-site dinner, and let them know that we’d be celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary. Oddly enough, none of this information was discussed with us during the check-in process, nor at any time during our stay. This is an area where management needs to improve the experience at the resort. For comparison, the off-site Anniversary dinner (which Laluna arranged for us) was at another nearby resort restaurant called Olivers. When we went to that dinner, the maitre’d immediately acknowledged our anniversary, then our server brought us a ‘pre-dessert’ of chocolate cake with a sparkler and “Happy Anniversary” written on the cake. With that said, all Laluna property staff were very pleasant and kind during the check-in process. As a note for those Bonvoy members of rank, the only Beach cottage is not available for a free upgrade, only the single cottages higher up the hillside. Also, only the cottages that are connected are available for Bonvoy points redemption. I was hoping for an upgrade but at such a small property it was unlikely. I'm glad it didn't happen. Yes, I climbed lots of steps to get to my room, but the sunsets were amazing! The room All 16 rooms are the same size and layout, were they are on the property determines the 3 different prices. Our room was #12, it was at the top ridge of the property, so if you don't like lots of steep steps you’re going to need to ask for a ride to/from your room (but be warned, you still need to climb a final set of steps to get to your room after being dropped off). We knew this after reading reviews and had no issues with it. The upper level room also gave us a much better ocean view than those lower on the property. Our room shared a common wall with the room next door. It was also occupied during our stay, but we had no issues with 'noise', we do use a rain sound app on our phones every night, so that may have also helped from being able to hear anything. For maximum privacy and zero steps you will want to book the only beach room. The rooms are rustic but nicely appointed including a mini-fridge. The bed was firm, the sheets soft and cozy, but the pillows were just average. They did provide us with good restful sleep during our stay. The bathroom is sheltered, but outside (protected from view but not air-conditioned). It had a shower with a great view and always plenty of hot/cold water as needed. The bed had a mosquito net around it just in case. We did not have issues with mosquitoes in the room during our stay. They also provided a bug coil that you could light each night to help keep any bugs at bay. Outside was a nice shaded patio with sea views, a couch, lounger, and small plunge pool (some lower level rooms appeared to have more of a jungle treetop view). The AC worked great! We kept it at 19 degree Celsius and it was cold all week. The room was cleaned daily as well as nightly turn-down service provided. Overall the room gave us a feel of an authentic Caribbean vacation with everything we needed for a clean comfortable stay. The spa We both received several massages and agreed that for the price they were at the very top of our list for great massages! We highly recommend these services while staying here. They could improve the experience by having a more formal check-in service when you arrive where they explained the facilities in more detail. I asked where the shower was since I had read that they had them, but my wife did not ask so her first massage was a little rough since she was in the ocean earlier and had not had the opportunity to rinse off. We both had the Balinese and the Tatami treatments. Both were great for our muscles that had been working out for several weeks on a row. I would have easily paid 25% more for these services, they were THAT GOOD! The gym The gym was decently sized with a nice view of the gardens and ocean. Equipment included: a single treadmill, elliptical, bike, recumbent bike, punching bag, dumbbells from 2.5lb to 25lb, and an adjustable bench. They provided gym towels but in very small quantities and there was no water cooler unfortunately. The room was very hot (30-32 degrees Celcius) and the AC units are turned off to conserve energy when not in use. When we arrived each morning and turned them on, however, they never put off any cold air. I spoke with someone on our second day and later that day observed the maintenance team looking at the units. On our last day we worked out in the gym and they still were not fixed. Hopefully they are able to fix them over their 3 week closing for maintenance in October. Yoga The outdoor yoga pavilion looked into the beach and ocean and had a nice breeze during our Sunday morning yoga practice. It was at excellent Yan Yoga session. The instructor was great, providing instruction and guidance as needed. Restaurant - breakfast Excellent breakfast options. Daily fresh juice, all fruit was fresh and sweet. The breakfast sandwich was one of the best ever, and the sausage and grilled veggies were excellent. On the healthier side, the yogurt parfait was also a good choice. Restaurant - dinner Barracuda and pumpkin ravioli were both very tasty. Good wine selection with good service and affordable pricing. Beach and Pool area The loungers and cushions were showing their age, and in need of some TLC or replacement (maybe they will be taken care of in October). The beach was combed daily, and the pool was cleaned several times during our stay and always was clear. Plenty of shaded loungers (even on the weekend when about 10 day trippers came to enjoy the property). When we wanted sun we just moved the loungers down towards the water or back up the sand. To order food or drink you had to walk to the bar (the place is very small so at best this is at 100 foot walk), after you order they do bring it out to you. Also the drinks were made with actual juice (lime, lemon, etc.) and fresh fruit so the blended cocktails were refreshing and well worth it. Non-motorized water sports are complementary. They had a pair of paddle boards, kayaks, and Hobie sunfish for use. We used the paddle boards several times and had a great time! Also, all areas were very quiet since there were no kids anywhere. Final assessment We had a very relaxing time at Laluna, and enjoyed the friendly staff, clean and comfy facilities, nice food and drink, great beach and pool areas. Just a few small areas where management needs to improve upon to make it a 5 star experience. Also, maybe provide name badges for the staff or train them to always provide their name when they are working with the customer. With that said, I’d like to recognize the following staff for exceptional service: Azim and Tracy at the front desk, and Lindon tending bar. All-in-all, we had a very nice time and would certainly return here if we go to Grenada again.

Over all the experience was lovely. We stayed in the beachfront cottage which was a short (and level) walk from reception, where as all the other rooms are up the hill. The open room was spacious and nice, perfect views while also extending privacy during day and night hours. Even sitting on the open porch/deck you cannot really hear or see anything other than the open ocean in front of you. If you feel comfortably to drive, I recommend getting a rental as LaLuna offers free parking (many resorts do not) and taxi trips add up after time. Speaking of cost, keep in mind everything is a-la-carte and relatively expensive compared to other resorts or even options locally. For reference, a traditional rum and coke was ~$14 USD (short tumbler glass) but we found out happy hour is 5-7pm. Recommend you bring your own alcohol, water, juices for the room. The meals were very good all around and compliments to the cooks and wait staff, very friendly. The facility as a whole was very nice, and perfect location for what we we looking for. It could use a fresh update on some esthetics with paint and trim work. But you could really tell the service crew cared and took pride in their work. Every morning their grounds team was out cleaning the beach. All and all it was a nice place and extremely private with a very nice staff and food.
