Had a lovely evening in this beautiful location. The food was local, pumpkin soup from the cooks garde. Beef goulash with polenta, salad and lovely dessert. Tamara is a very good cook and extremely welcoming. She also provided a vegetarian option, a trio of dumplings. Slovenian wine is delicious. Recommended.
Nice apartment in a really nice area. Spend three days there and enjoyed it! Comprising breakfast for a definitely fair price. Offer dinner (local style) but we did not try. Most points of view in Triglav NP and that area can be reached in fair time.
Our two bedroom apartment met our needs. We enjoyed breakfast that sustained us through most of the day of hiking. Our hostess Teja and her assistant, Katrina met our every need. Her suggestions were helpful We explored the surrounding area each day by hiking the nearby trails of the Julian Alps.
My family and I spent there 2 nights. We had a very big apartment on the ground floor with two bedrooms. Everything clean and nice. The owner or the manager was there when we arrived. She welcomed us with homemade blueberry cake. The place itself is very peaceful and suitable for children. The nature is pure. Now in the spring everything is blooming. Beautiful. Breakfast prepared from local ingredients. Perfect. We really recommend this accommodation.
This was our second visit and we will come back for sure. Apartments are very neat and clean, restaurant offers great local food - trout tartare is great! Location is very peaceful and children friendly. We also used conference room for our company off-site activities.
I will start with the important issue : the management has changed! there is no restaurant and the "owner" everyone are talking about in all the reviews is not there anymore. Instead, there is a nice lady with her daughter & female dog. They are nice, make you feel like family and are happy to help with everything! You can have breakfast and dinner at the place but there is no restaurant! There isn't a big menu to pick from but I'm sure it will change once the manager will have more time there :) Dog friendliness - this is by far the most dog friendly place I've ever been to! As I wrote the manager has a female dog and our dog got along with her so it was nice. Basically, most of this area is very dog friendly so it's great. The room was nice, the studio flat was a bit small for a couple & dog but still cozy and nice. Food was great at dinners and not so expensive compared to Slovenia price range. You should consider that after sundown it's not nice to drive in the area so you're pretty much stuck there. All in all it was a great stay and we loved it.…
We spent a magical 13 nights here with our daughters (8 & 5 years) in September. Staying here was the highlight of our holiday. Jaka's hospitality is exceeded only by his skills in the kitchen and Tatjana is an incredibly gracious hostess. The Zelesarski room was perfect for us, and the girls loved having their own sleeping space up in the attic. Great location between Bled and Lake Bohinj, from which we explored the entire area: up to Arnoldstein to take the chairlift up to the Three Borders, across to Udine, down to Trieste, east to Ljubljana, and everywhere in-between. Jaka suggested we take the car train from Bohinjska Bistrica to Most Na Soci: that was one of the most memorable things we did. Speaking of cars, Jaka even gave us a hand with some car trouble we had. There is a great feeling of familiarity at the place, but not at the expense of professionalism and first class customer service. We might live very far away, but Rocnjek will always have a very special place in our hearts.…
Beautiful farm in wondeful landscape! Very generous breakfast with local products. Nice atmosphere and very warm welcome from Tatjana and Jaka! A pleasant stay in Slovenia. We recommend without hesitation!
I am almost reluctant to review this as it is something of a hidden gem. Apartments are modern but in a rustic style, well equipped. The 'farm' is in a scattered alpine settlement , they have donkeys( they bite!), ducks and a goat. I would imagine children especially urban children would love it as they have the freedom to roam safely. You need a car but once there can walk from the farm. There is cross country skiing in season and childrens/ beginners slopes a short drive away. Then there is the food. The restaurant is only open at weekends to the public but open all week to residents. There is a set menu each evening for around 15 euros a head, all cooked individually for each table.3-4 courses and at a time when many restaurants talk about local sources this really is locally sourced from very local suppliers. Meat is of excellent quality, beef, chicken pork and suckling pig were all offered on different nights. He smokes his own trout and makes wonderful bread. This is not haute cuisine but is the best food we have had in Slovenia. Excellent quality cooked by a chef who loves the area and its traditions/ingredients. We did not have breakfast- dinner kept is going for most of the next day but other residents said they were of a similar high standard. Service was friendly and efficient. Slovenian wine excellent as ever.…
Ten year old daughter and I spend two days hiking around the area and wanted to stay away from Bled and Bohinj crowds. Rocnjek is about 20 minutes from each by car but, if searching for quality time among family, friends, partners, colleagues, definitely worth the drive. Rooms are new, cosy, spacious and well furnished (I think air conditioned as well). Each has own wifi, reaching all areas of the estate. Bed mattress is great (I have back problems, but did not feel any) and blinds shut well if prefer complete darkness. Top floor (in the "attic" is suitable for kids). Shared kids playroom is in the basement and ping pong table, artificial climbing rock, mats for exercise were a nice surprise. Sauna and massage areas are available on request. Conference room is on the ground floor and seats about 20-25 people (full capacity is about 25 as far as I remember), but the yard and dining room are more informal yet comfortable options to talk, share, discuss... Definitely worth recommending for team building weekends, presentations and meetings with business partners. However, the best part of the stay is the hospitality. Jaka, the owner, is relaxed, thoughtful. He has helped us decide on hiking routes fitting for kids, suggested the best restaurants on the hiking and tourist routes (although the food in Ronjek is much better than any of them), must see sights... We felt as the estate is being shared, service and facilities tailor made to our liking and interest. Even the neighbours who come for coffee are welcoming, helpful, but so laid back that the privacy is never compromised - you easily tune to idyllic atmosphere and relaxing chit chat about nature, quiet life and feel close to people. Jaka also cooks and Rocnjak is by far the best place to eat. Restaurants in the area (we have tried the two most famous) are no match to his food. We have placed ourselves in Jaka's hands and did not regret a single flavor. All meals are versatile and often too large to handle, even after the entire day spent hiking. Breakfasts included various salami, prosciutto, bacon, lard spread (must try) from the small private producer, eggs with mushrooms, jam, Nuttela, fresh selection of breads. On the first day, dinner included: crispy yet juicy chicken, lamb chops marinated in mustard (succulent - pink on the inside), grilled tomatoes, baked small potatoes, salad and a plate of local salami and cheeses - freshly baked, warm bread. On the second day, we were served beef tartar, wild mushroom soup, pot with pork loin Wellington style, homemade ravioli filled with fresh cheese and mushroom sauce, grilled lamb chops, moussaka (with eggplants) and a huge bowl of various salads. All meals are served with care, rural style: on wooden boards in clay pots... Overall, Rocnjak is the place you visit when in need of recharging, stepping away from noise and stress, desperately wanting a quiet, peaceful night sleep, bonding, down to earth interactions... We cannot wait to visit again.…
