An incredibly relaxing stay nestled in the natural scenario of the Tuscan hills, highlighted by a truly gorgeous swimming pool. The ambience is rustically elegant and very silent, the staff is highly competent and friendly. The selection of food is quite extensive for both lunch and dinner, and of very high quality no matter your pick. A must stay!
I definitely recommend this gem! Wonderful staff, nice location and facilities (especially the swimming pool and the very pleasant rooms) and very tasty local food. Don’t go anywhere else if you are in this area! I will definitely go back.
We loved our stay. The room or appartments are charming. Swimmingpool is very clean with a great view. If you love nature and a quiet place this is the place for you! Staff is very friendly, we had a upgrade because our 25 th wedding anniverery. There is just one but.... don’t take diner there, it’s not so good.
My experience at this hotel was very pleasant, the people were very nice and friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious, the pool was nice and clean, this location was a perfect for getaway and a great opportunity to experience something different. I ve stayed in a lot of hotels in the past but this hotel offered a more relaxing and more country like experience, prior to going to this hotel, I had spent a few days at the Hilton in Rome near the airport, the Hilton’s beds were very tiny, the staff was very rude, the food was nasty and I was not satisfied at all there. Borgo Giusto on the other hand, the beds a were bigger, the rooms were bigger and more clean, the front desk lady was very nice and welcoming, and the food was fresh and tasted delicious, I would definitely recommend Borgo Giusto to anyone trying to experience a different kind of hospitality, a more relax atmosphere and a great view of the mountains, definitely not your average hotel, I look forward to going back there in the near future. Thank you…
The location is really nice and calm zone. We was here for a few days on the August and we were disappointed. I thought a lot before to write my opinion, but wasn't right for us and maybe it's better for you to avoid to ruin your vacation. Do you enjoy waiting to get a waiter to get your coffe for the breakfast?! Then this is the place to go! Unfortunately the quality of the food was also poor and staff not really competent( even they can't understand English). Then the glasses are dirty, you are actually nauseous to use them and some of the plates was dirty, was difficult to choose one clean. For this reason we refused to had a dinner in your restaurant, because we thought it might be that night, the same hygiene. So that is the perfect place to ruin a holiday. Sorry, but I don't recommand.…
Borgo Giusto is absolutely beautiful. When we first stepped out of the car, the view over the swimming pool to the hillsides was jaw dropping. The buildings themselves are also picturesque with beautiful landscaping. The location is also quite nice. While somewhat isolated, it is near enough to the town of Lucca where we ate dinners most nights. It is also fairly close to the coast, Pisa and Florence. There were however some deficiencies. The pool was rather dirty with a fair amount of algae growth. Rooms are not air conditioned thus in the heat of summer can be uncomfortable. There were fans of marginal quality. Our fridge was stocked with water on some days and not others (we had two rooms, at times one would be stocked and the other not). Simply, things seemed somewhat inconsistent.…
I think it’s hard to judge reviews without indicating what your expectations are or a comparison. We stayed for 5 nights if I had wrote this the first night it would have been a 2 star rating. The place is externally attractive but yes remote and yes very basic or rustic. This does not excuse curtains hanging off and lamps partially broken, the receptionist is not over friendly or helpful but adequate. I think that sums the food, service and accommodations up - adequate! However the location and views are breathtaking and now on day 5 I can see the charm of the location so have given it 3 stars. Food is fresh and local but not consistent or tasty and be prepared to wait an hour from order to tables To add perspective we normally stay in 5 star UK and 4 / 5 star Europe / carribean. This is a 3 star and advertised as such it is also in expensive...... so if you are happy with a budget holiday with fawlty towers service it’s worth coming because it is clean with a beautiful pool, stunning location and friendly staff I would not come again because of the basic food Choices and inconsistent service.…
A beautiful, relaxing hideaway with wonderfully helpful staff and really good locally produced foods and wine. The staff were so helpful and went out of the way for us. We travelled by train to the area, the staff picked us up and dropped us back to the train station no problem. A great place to relax, go for walks, enjoy the food and wine and soak up the views. Great pool and spa. Accommodation was lovely. I would so recommend staying her to recharge those batteries.
We were attending a wedding nearby and decided to stay here for the weekend. I'll start off by saying that the hotel/pool/view are beautiful, there's no denying that. However the service here was very poor. The weekend that we stayed here was a three day "Soul Festival" going on. At check-in the staff assumed we were there for this event and they were very surprised that we weren't. I wish that we had been told this was going on because we would have stayed somewhere else. On more than one occasion we went to Reception and waited to ask a question. Almost EVERY time, the receptionist completely ignored me and my husband and helped other guests who were waiting behind us. It was incredibly frustrating. We were constantly ignored by staff all weekend because they were tending to the larger groups there for the festival. At breakfast, the server would go to every single table except ours to take coffee orders. On one of the days we sat down for lunch and no one approached us. Maybe 10 minutes later a group of 6-7 sat down for lunch and staff set up their table, took their orders and brought their drinks out before even coming over to set up our table. We felt very unwelcome. I don't know if it was because of the event, but guests were extremely loud until about 2am. There is no reception overnight so if you need anything, you're out of luck. Other than breakfast and one light lunch, we did not eat at the restaurant. If you have a car (you really need one up here) there are plenty of great restaurants to chose from. I did like our room (two floor set up) and I enjoyed the pool. I booked a manicure at the spa which was very relaxing (although a bit different from a traditional manicure). If we came back to the area I don't think I would stay here again because there are so many beautiful villas to chose from and we were ignored by staff all weekend. I don't regret staying here but I do regret staying here the weekend that we did.…
Quick summary: go to Borgo Giusto to enjoy the beautiful location, avoid the restaurant and be aware that aside from the pool, there's no entertainment for the kids. There's no denying that Borgo Giusto is a beautiful hamlet situated in a particularly beautiful and peaceful part of Tuscany. But apart from the beautiful exterior and the clean pool, everything else disappointed at Borgo Giusto. The restaurant "Ilgallobrillo.it" was probably our biggest disappointment. Swordfish pasta that tasted more of salt than fish, a tomato pasta made with canned tomatoes, a Caprese salad sprinkled with dry instead of fresh basil (a sin for any half-decent restaurant but unthinkable for just about any restaurant in Tuscany), pork ribs that are 70% fat. After 2 days, we decided to cook for ourselves and headed to the Esselungo near Lucca. You should seriously consider either cooking your own food or eating outside of Borgo Giusto. The staff at Borgo Giusto are generally friendly but it often felt as if their main objective wasn't to ensure that the guests were happy. Finally, the property is in want of repair and maintenance and far too many corners and lights are covered in cobwebs. The kitchenettes are under–equipped and during our stay, the floor was never swept, inviting hordes of ants into our apartment.…
