There is no competent stuff there except one person in kitchen site. The water is awful though I stayed in polo vip room. Dining is in the next buildings so you have to walk outside 5 minutes. And most importantly there is no control over night staff
This place may be great by 2nd or 3rd world standards, but it was pretty bad otherwise. I started in a room facing the street, but the curtains don't cover the windows all the way and the drivers like to honk their horns and speed up and down the street at all hours. I switched to a room facing the back and it was a little better for noise. Bed: Hard as a concrete slab, and the comforter / duvat is too hot, making it difficult to sleep. Would have been nice if they had lighter comforter. Shower: A weird space pod looking contraption that took quite a bit of playing around with to learn how to use. The hot water often took 10+ minutes to start working, but when it did, watch out! It was very difficult to get a temperature setting that was neither cold nor scalding hot (and I mean scalding like you can get 2nd degree burns within seconds hot. WOW!) There is no cap on the heat settings, so if you have kids be extra careful with this. TV: You only get Russian or Armenian channels, but that is probably who is staying here most. WiFi: Only worked down in the lobby, and even then it cut in and out quite frequently. There is generally no service to your room from when you check in until you leave. So no towel changes, no bed making, no taking out your trash, etc. If you are staying more than a night or two, just be aware of this. It is generally close to most of the local attractions and restaurants. The price is fairly reasonable (actually prices overall in Gyumri were reasonable for everything). There are no chain hotels in town, so sadly this may be one of your best options.…
Who gives the stars? This is supposed to be the newest hotel. The curtains do not cover the entire window. The furniture might be new but it looks old. Upholstery on the chairs needs to be redone. No elevator, but the first floor is not too bad. They have cable TV but no channels in English. Some of the lights did not work. No lamp by the bed. Hard beds which is better than too soft I guess. Breakfast do not start until 9:30AM but they accommodated us downstairs at 9AM. Wi-Fi was very slow when it worked. There is a shower door but it does not close completely, so water goes all over the floor as usual, I think is an Armenian thing. Advice to hotel owners: As they embark on refurbishing and building new hotel rooms, and charging high rates, it would serve them well to look in the internet at the interiors of new budget rooms of chains like Best Western, Choice hotels, Econolodge, Travelodge and so forth and take advantage of years of research to know what travelers need. It is not about the money, but about good workmanship, taste and good design. It is often cheaper to do a good simple design that will require minimal maintenance and maximum comfort.…
