We had a private room with attached bathroom, and it was extremely comfortable. The room was immaculately clean, and it even came with a private sitting area.

The highlight of the stay though was breakfast - they prepared an amazing breakfast full of fruit, salad, cereal, blinis, and more - each day was different, and there was always so much delicious food. We ate on a patio just outside our room.

The owner helped us book a tour in the mountains and rented out decent gear (better quality than what another guy in our group had gotten from the CBT!).

They had mediocre internet, though we had to restart the wifi router from time to time to keep it going, and my Chromebook wouldn't connect to it for some reason. My husband's netbook and our smartphones worked fine on it.

It's a few blocks away from the main strip in Karakol, but it was a relaxing oasis for us. This was my favorite accommodation in all of Central Asia, and it was an exceptional value.

They had a few dorm options, including a yurt and a small room with four beds. They were in the process of renovating additional rooms, so they'll probably have more options available soon. There was also a shared kitchen and refrigerator for preparing meals.

The best place I have stayed in for a long while! Our hosts are genial and wise, Janyl is a great cook with very fresh local food. Huge breakfasts, comfortable beds. Beautiful flowers in the garden. Washing machine, hot showers and free Wi-Fi. What more could I want! You are 10 minutes walk away from Downtown with a local market, places to eat and shops.
I have been coming here for years and would certainly recommend Bailanysh and the family Musaev to you.
Kyrgyz Tours is run from here; they can organise visits to the wildest places you can imagine. Be this walking, hiking, horse treks, or just camping by a river in the mountains.

A family-run guesthouse and tour company (Kyrgyz Tours) on Lenin Street, this was the perfect base for us to explore Karakol and the nearby trekking region. We stayed in an ensuite room, quiet and very clean. We also stayed in their yurt, which was ornately decorated inside.
The people are super-friendly, very helpful. We felt respected as travellers. They looked after our kit for several days while we went hiking, and we were able to hire a rucksack from them. There is an internet cafe in the tour office round the front which we used for free. I couldn't recommend this guesthouse more.

We stayed two nights at Bailanysh and were very well taken care of. It is a little sanctuary surrounded by beautiful flowers! The family are so kind and helpful with great English. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, there are lots of places to sit and relax outside in the sun. We would stay again!!

We came to Kyrgyzstan and Karakol on the 2nd week of September 2015.
We spent one night at the B&B and then went to trek during three days.
This stay was amazing and unforgettable.
First, the B&B is very well located in Karakol, every key place to see is from walking distance.
Second, the B&B that Aigulu managed is perfectly maintained, the rooms are clean well tidied and the breakfast she prepares is exactly what is needed for the trek you would do.
For the trek, we were guided by Mirlan, and Max was carrying tents and food. Both of them are super nice, very interesting guys, that do not just walk you silently in the amazing landscapes of Kygyzstan but that also get to know you and tell you great anecdotes and their goals in life. They take care of everything: cooking, setting up the tent and even guide the greedy trekkers who got lost in the mountains.
As of the trek in itself, we did 15km the first day til the camp, 25 km the second day around the lake and 15km the third day to come back to Karakol. The landscapes are breathtaking. The place is amazing.
If we come back to Karakol ,there is no songle chance for us not to revisit this B&B, that we recommend on every single level.
Again thanks a lot, Aigulu, Mirlan and Max.
Eddy & Raissa

Bailanysh is a family-run guesthouse located just 10 mins walk from Orthodox Holy Trinity Cathedral. We came in a group of 12 occupying 3 bungalows of different size, each has its own charm and is nicely decorated that makes you feel like home.
Westin-style breakfast (eggs, cheese, bread, salad, porridge) is served on a patio, portion is big enough to fuel you up for the morning :-)
The family always give you warm welcome and help with your every request. Staying in Bailanysh with the family and their lovely grandsons made it one of the best experience of my trip.

I stayed at this lovely guesthouse in 2013 for the first time and come back this time in 2016.
Getting better and better with some newly-built house and facilities.
Instead of a hostel feeling, this is more like a traditional Kyrgyz family stay and the family here is as friendly as you can imagine.
WIFI works well here.
Breakfast is hearty home-made style at the beautiful garden.
The family also run a tour company named Kyrgyz Tours (kyrgyz-tours.info) and they offer Altyn Arashan hiking or other activities and advices.
Location wise, just 5 mins walk off the main road. Very close to the famous wooden Orthodox Church.
Definitely recommend for those for are looking for a typical Kyrgyz experience.

We stayed here 2 nights (before and after our trekking to Khan Tengri) The yurt in the garden was very clean and beautifully decorated. We were very pleased with the service in the hostel and from Kyrgyz tours. (After asking for transport to Eskylitash 7h jeep track it was arranged for 2 hours later.) (When coming back 4 days delayed from the Khan Tengri basecamp our arranged driver was waiting!) Thank you Aigulu
