...There is a Disco that is open, but hardly anyone went. I believe if the resort would like more people to go and stay they should play more English 'top 40' music that the visitors would know... They only played Spanish music when we went and I think that turned most people away... Silent Disco night was great!...

...The room was nice, nothing special about it even though they upgraded us from a partial ocean view to a full ocean view... The room smelled like sewage at times and the shower is not very functional as it’s only half enclosed so you have to be very careful other wise you have water leaking onto the floor... If you need something in the room you’re better off getting it yourself or it’ll take hours...

...the first day we got a standard room which we have paid for, but the bathroom was made for children not even teens can fit in it... All the rooms of the hotel need renovations and updates, they are too old and the bathrooms are to desire, Clean, but too old for what the hotel claim to be a 5 stars... Obviously they have huge issues with pluming and the smell in the rooms like sewers, when the rooms are cleaned they must spray perfume to hide the smell but I have a very sensitive nose... One time I went to the room to change I found 4 men in the bathroom and plumbers working on the bathtub and the smell and dirt was disgusting... 1 day we had no water in the room and that was for most of the rooms in the hotel... The cleaning crew did great job to keep the hotel and the rooms clean...

The only way to have a bigger bathroom is to upgrade to a junior suite and we paid a special rate of 250 USD more... The hotel is not full but when I asked to extend the check out time to 5 as our flight is at 930 PM and the check out time is at 12pm they told me to pay 35usd so we decided to pay 15 USD to check out at 3 instead which I think it is too cheap... ...You can also use a golf cart to get around the resort. You need to take an elevator to get to the beach which wasn't an issue at all... In general, we've had a fantastic time due to hard work of the staff included but not limited to reception, security, restaurants, bars, cleaning, etc...

...Another plus would be the lovely birthday reception I received , and the fresh towels at the pool as you wish, as well as the 1h kayaking or Hobbie cat daily to beaches around the resort The buffet was very repetitive in the food options but make nice with the chefs and they'll make you some fresh grill every day. The hostess Ruth is so nice and will help you get better service if you need... Front desk staff is very helpful and kind... Another tip make friends with the cart drivers they will save you from the 153 stair climb from the beach or villas to the main resort (miguel was always funny and happy to be there)... The pool was nice when it wasn't overcrowded on the weekend (along with the buffet 🙄 and the beach) Nilvio the bartender was usually always on point for us...

...I like to do my homework and make sure the resort I choose is one that offers at best great food and great service... Most likely one of the names on the review is the name of the person who asked for the review... We were celebrating our Anniversary and while in the room waiting for our luggage someone came in and brought us a hot bottle of Champagne with no glasses... Said they will be back to bring us glasses, never saw them again... You’re better off taking your luggage with you as it took over 3 hours to get ours... We had to call and ask for our luggage to be sent up... There’s no pool/beach service like other resorts I’ve been to, so all drinks are to be ordered at the bar... The views are beautiful but not beautiful enough to compensate the service... The Bartenders at the lobby bar were nice and made very yummy espresso martinis!... The food at El Pescador was delicious and the best meal we had during our 5 day stay and the service there was the service we would’ve loved to have gotten during our whole stay...

we arrived on March 20th 2023, and from the moment we'd arrived until we left, i we have 0 complaint about this hotel and people who work there. All the ladies and gentleman at the front desk were absolutely fantastic... Front desk manager Danny the "best of the best" he made sure our vacations were exceptionally... Danny has a great attitude, positive vibe and always around to help... I Have to mention at the 'lobby Bar" Gabriel exellent bartender and funny person, he never loose he's "cool' even when hes extremely busy... Also, Maxwell, at the beach bar (he brings supplies to every stations around the hotel) super guy, friendly great attitude... All the "carrito" drivers Israel and Abraham greal customer service... He run to help, without hesitation... we had a bit of a problem with the phone and tv, but i explain to the front desk within minutes it was fixed... A la Carte restaurant were outstanding !... Resort is well mantain, super clean all around including washrooms... Ill recomended to my family and friends without hesitated...

...(Feb 10 - 17, 2023) The staff at this resort are the very best. Everyone from Danny the manager, Maria, all the trolley drivers, the waitresses and waiters like Francesco and mostly Deuris who graciously helped us with our spanish, the chef and my morning omelette maker who went out of his way every morning to make sure I had garlic and jalapenos for my three egg omelette... However, if you are intimidated by lots of stairs they also have transport carts to get you wherever you need to go, The resort has an excellent gym with everything you need... We were celebrating our anniversary and the resort provided us an upgrade to a secluded villa area with a beautiful pool away from the main pool... One of the cool things unseen anywhere is the six story elevator that take you directly to the beach where you can look out the water as you descend.. We highly recommend you sign up for the Loyalty program for the benefits and be very kind to the staff... Tell Danny that #larry6string highly recommend this resort...

...The personnel’s from the front desk, bar, restaurants, cleaning crew and entertainments were so friendly and all happy to serve... We had issues booking the restaurants, they told us they are closed and when I complained they opened them, the reason then we heard from another manager that the restaurants are full, but when we were in the restaurant they were not full as they claimed... The hotel is not full but when I asked to extend the check out time to 5 as our flight is at 930 PM and the check out time is at 12pm they told me to pay 35usd so we decided to pay 15 USD to check out at 3 instead which I think it is too cheap... We spent 14 glorious days at this hotel, from check in to check out, we were met with smiles and warmth... We had 7 alacartes in 14 days, service and food was exceptional, but our favourite was the Seafood restaurant... There is a smaller beach at the Casita, where you can also have lunch, they have 3 whirlpool pools, the trolley at the front lobby will take you there... We never had a problem getting chairs, in fact most days we had 2, 1 in sun and 1 in shade... We went on the whale watch and Levantado island trip, also snorkeling and booked both thru the Sport Centre to the right when you get off the elevator to the beach... Reggie and Jesus at the sport centre will forever hold a special place in our hearts, these 2 were so much fun and always greeted us with the biggest smiles... We would also like to mention Akexander, Basilio, Francisco and Gabriel, from the alacartes and lobby bar, they also made our trip so memorable...

...It's a quiet resort, not too many activities, but if you are looking for a relaxing vacation, great service, good food and some of the friendliest people in the south this is the place... As usually the airport was quiet and quick to get through... 45 minute bus ride to the resort, they let us go to the buffet/bar for something to eat while they checked us in... We stayed in the Junior Suite Superior in building 31... Also the shuttle was available for a second trip or if you just didn't feel like the walk... You just called the front desk and it was always there with 5-10 minutes... Al a cartes very good with only one issue, they always like to rush you and I had to insist on having time with our glass of wine and ordering slowly... You never had to reserve lounges at the pool or beach... I want to compliment all the staff, too many great ones to single out... ...I like to do my homework and make sure the resort I choose is one that offers at best great food and great service... We were celebrating our Anniversary and while in the room waiting for our luggage someone came in and brought us a hot bottle of Champagne with no glasses... Said they will be back to bring us glasses, never saw them again... The hot tubs are luke warm at best & located far and multiple flights of stairs from the main pool... The snack bar is also where the hots tubs are and the only food option from 3pm-7pm where the food is uncovered & surrounded by flies... There’s no pool/beach service like other resorts I’ve been to, so all drinks are to be ordered at the bar... If you need something in the room you’re better off getting it yourself or it’ll take hours... The Bartenders at the lobby bar were nice and made very yummy espresso martinis!...

...Beach is excellent clean, well maintained. We had room 404, excellent view of the bay... In particular our waiter Francesco, was fabulous, always attentive, ready to please, friendly... Bathrooms need updating, old tubs, with glass added to convert to a shower...

...Everyone from Danny the manager, Maria, all the trolley drivers, the waitresses and waiters like Francesco and mostly Deuris who graciously helped us with our spanish, the chef and my morning omelette maker who went out of his way every morning to make sure I had garlic and jalapenos for my three egg omelette... However, if you are intimidated by lots of stairs they also have transport carts to get you wherever you need to go, The resort has an excellent gym with everything you need... BPGC has an unusual layout with beautiful grounds... We were celebrating our anniversary and the resort provided us an upgrade to a secluded villa area with a beautiful pool away from the main pool... The grounds here are beautiful and the resort is pristine... One of the cool things unseen anywhere is the six story elevator that take you directly to the beach where you can look out the water as you descend.. We highly recommend you sign up for the Loyalty program for the benefits and be very kind to the staff... Tell Danny that #larry6string highly recommend this resort...

...(Italian ok, but the seafood and gourmet are excellent.) The Zipline + waterfall tour were great- and the shop there had the best prices for jewellery and other craft goods... We loved the beaches - one with great swimming and the other (near villas) great snorkelling and next spot to chill under a tree...

I recently came back from this resort... Our view from our balcony was a full ocean view room... They only had 1 main pool which was slightly small but the entertainment crew made it fun and enjoyable... The beach was small and not white sand like Punta Cana but it didn't have that commercialized feel and the ocean had a sandy bottom and was easy to swim in... Overall I would recommend this resort and will likely return...

...The resort is lovely and the staff are fabulous... I was a single parent travelling with my daughter with special needs and she was treated very well and included in everything... All of the al la carte restaurants are lovely... Take local bus or travel in town via cart that leaves on the hour from front desk...

It’s started with Danny at the reception, exceptionally pleasant,he gave us amazing ocean view room, probably one of the best in the resort, lol The food is fantastic, and there’s variety of everything every day!Buffet has the best food!... The beach is a bit small, but really good, and they clean it all the time!... Really recommend you to come here, the service is great, they try really hard to make your vacation perfect and it shows!...

The resort is situated on a mountain which have beautiful views. The personnel’s from the front desk, bar, restaurants, cleaning crew and entertainments were so friendly and all happy to serve... The only way to have a bigger bathroom is to upgrade to a junior suite and we paid a special rate of 250 USD more... The hotel has a huge potential to be a 5 stars but the chain need to update and put some money into it...

We spent 14 glorious days at this hotel, from check in to check out, we were met with smiles and warmth... We enjoyed the buffet, were always able to find something good to eat, some complain it wasn't hot, but there's a microwave you can use if needed... We only spent one day at the pool, it was fun playing games, pool aerobics and dance lessons, the entertainment team are awesome... There is a smaller beach at the Casita, where you can also have lunch, they have 3 whirlpool pools, the trolley at the front lobby will take you there... We went to town one day, also by trolley, it was fun, had a great lunch at The Royale... The elevator to the beach shows some beautiful views and don't miss the Bridge to Nowhere, if you look closely you will see starfish... We never had a problem getting chairs, in fact most days we had 2, 1 in sun and 1 in shade... We went on the whale watch and Levantado island trip, also snorkeling and booked both thru the Sport Centre to the right when you get off the elevator to the beach... We would also like to mention Akexander, Basilio, Francisco and Gabriel, from the alacartes and lobby bar, they also made our trip so memorable...

Rooms need some renovation their should be outlets on both sides of the bed it’s 2022 we all have cell phones, IPads etc to charge... The resort is very nice and we had the pool at the snack bar pretty much to ourselves it’s a quiet resort but not for kids they would be bored especially under 18!... If something is wrong in your room they accommodate you right away so that’s a plus...

Consodering that the hotel has only been open since November 1st we we're quite pleased with our stay... The restaurants we're amazing and the buffet has a good variety; If you can't find anything that you like chances are you're a picky eater... The waiters are on the ball and are so attentive especially Elvin!...

...We reached out to Maria at the reception area and she arranged us a new room immediately. Beautiful Views In the morning or at night, inside or outside, you will enjoy the wonderful ocean view and the hill view... Walking on the bridge which connects the hotel to the small Islands provide you different views to the hotel and surroundings... Cozy Beach Although the beach may seem a bit small, but its cozy with a great vibe covered with beautiful trees... Excellent Entertainments This energetic group of staff kept us completely busy during the week... Dance lessons, Bingo bingo game, Spanish class and other activities brought us so much joy...

Resort staff are very friendly and helpful... There is a Disco that is open, but hardly anyone went... I believe if the resort would like more people to go and stay they should play more English 'top 40' music that the visitors would know... There is a free shuttle into town every hour if you wish to go... We could ALWAYS get a chair with an umbrella at both the pool & the beach anytime of day... NO need to wake up early and reserve chairs...

...Considering this resort was closed for over 2 years I think they did a great job in getting it ready for visitors... It's a quiet resort, not too many activities, but if you are looking for a relaxing vacation, great service, good food and some of the friendliest people in the south this is the place... 45 minute bus ride to the resort, they let us go to the buffet/bar for something to eat while they checked us in... We stayed in the Junior Suite Superior in building 31... Yes, there was 80 some step to the pool and another 20 to the buffer restaurant but although we are in our 70s and 60s we used that as our daily exercise... Also the shuttle was available for a second trip or if you just didn't feel like the walk... You just called the front desk and it was always there with 5-10 minutes... As I mentioned it has the most beautiful views of the town and the bays... Every place on the resort you have another beautiful view... Buffet was very good, food could be warmer... You never had to reserve lounges at the pool or beach... Pool was great and the beach although small was actually nice... Bar, restaurants, front desk, entertainment staff, everyone was great...

Location was perfect. Resort grounds. Small resort very old but well maintained. Food. Resort food is never great but this place was above par. Cheap resort with great food and great location. It's a very old resort so do not expect the best. For the price food and location. Sign me up I would definitely go again

The Views from anywhere are the greatest. 3 Pool areas with a great lobby bar and pretty decent entertainment all day and into the evening. 3 Delicious and varied specialty restaurants and the buffets were always great for B,L , and Dinner. Shuttle service to almost anywhere in the resort and 4-5 times daily to Samana town. All staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. A little concern about the all-inclusive may be on the way out, soon.

Hotel was all inclusive when I made my reservation and then was not when I got there. There was no communication about the change or I would have canceled my stay. I drove 4-5 hours (poor driving conditions due to flooding) and arrived to find that meals and drinks would be an additional cost. I spent $140 and the only drinks included were beer, coke and water. Every other option carried it's own separate cost. Very disappointed

Not coming back. Disappointed with Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa. Booked for an all-inclusive stay but was surprised to find out upon arrival that they discontinued this service without prior notice. Faced unexpected charges, including a hefty fee for my child. The lack of clear communication and the sudden change in services significantly dampened our experience. Not what we expected from a reputed resort.

This was my first and last time here, Let's start with the good stuff that you can find in this "resort": Food in the places to eat taste good. Personal is friendly and kindly ( some of them) The hotel has a fantastic view all over to the ocean. Bad stuff Our first day the hotel was implementing a not all inclusive concept ( we were never informed bout it and all the time we thought we were going to an all inclusive concept as we supposed we paid for) we go through all this problem with the hotel and they told us to call Expedia, we did and the end they send us a new confirmation number and said the reservation was not all inclusive, we passed 3 hours fighting with this and all the misunderstood, finally we got our room, when we go to lunch to the only one restaurant they had open ( very limit menu ) the personal was slow and was not trained, not good cocktails options, super hot (because the air conditioner area was closed. In my room 429 There was a sewer smell coming from the bathroom and the bed was broken. The second day we didn't stay in the resort but we go for dinner to the only restaurant open the Italian restaurant, (was not that much Italian), the food as I say, taste good but here the pasta was the worst. The gym was equipment as a 2 start resort In general the hotel has not open anything of what it offers( no restaurants, no bars, no shows, not music in the pool... ANYTHING AT ALL. I have to recognize the service of Danny in the reception this person go above of the spectation, should be in other place. Gil and Maria in the reception need to be trained. I don't recommend to come here we won't visit this resort again.

4 trips every winter to the Caribbean gives me the opportunity to compare various properties This was our second trip to this hotel in 2023. Cayacoa is beautifully located. Staff attentive and helpful. Beach small and shady Food was delicious, fresh and plenty of it A la carte restaurants offer beautifully plated meals and a good selection. Rooms are comfortable, maybe a little tired but everything worked well. Fridge replenished daily Entertainment team is engaging when the boss is watching, other that that that are happy chatting in their booth or in their devices and playing VERY LOUD music by the pool. The problem began on Friday afternoon when a large group of DR residents arrived at the hotel. They are extremely loud and pushy They occupied the swim up bar morning to night. It was almost impossible to get a drink They brought their own music and competed with the already loud entertainment. Meal time was a chaos The buffet team didn’t control the number of people entering the facility There were no fee or clean tables and lining up at a buffet is a foreign concept to them To make it worse-they pack the food into their bags to take it home with them I’m not taking a cookie for the road I’m talking salads.meat, EVERYTHING! Aside from that- all else was good The other thing is the changeover to European Plan as of Nov 1 The hotel is near empty ( from staff at location now) out of 250 rooms or so they have 9 clients and 50 people booked for the weekend It is not known how long will the Piñero Group ( parent company) will watch this property bleed money. Would we go back? Yes. But there has to be a better control of the crowd and the AI must be reinstated

We just got back from spending 2 weeks at this resort. So let's start off with the good... The views are beautiful The rooms are a nice size The resort itself is pretty clean..(needs to be freshened up but overall clean) The elevator to the beach was pretty cool The snack bar food was good, there is a menu Monday-Thursday and the food is good the rest of the week there is a small buffet Now for the OKAY The beach was okay, lots of beach loungers, however there are dogs and cats that are there everyday, they are harmless. The food is OK.. the buffet is a hit and a miss. The breakfast buffet is not the greatest most of the time the food was cold and burnt. The A la Carts were OK again the food was overdone but if you ask them to cook it the way you like they will. Now for the bad The entertainment is not good...they have a games around the pool and sometimes on the beach. The evening entertainment is not the greatest, it starts off with music around 8pm, then at 8:30 pm they have little kids up singing " baby shark" this goes on for a half hour. After that the other entertainment starts, mostly singers and stuff, the small kids are running around the entertainers, I found that unacceptable as the adults really couldn't enjoy the show. The staff don't speak English, so it's a little hard to communicate On the weekends the locals come to the resort and take over, we found them rude, loud and disrespectful and the resort staff didn't seem to do anything about..they allow young children to sit at the bar and at the swim up bar The resort is big and they do have shuttles if you have difficulty walking Overall the resort is alright but definitely not a 5 star

We were there Sept 7 to 21, 2023. The staff are GREAT. It was very quiet. NOW you only get 1 or two meals and NO DRINKS INCLUDED as of OCTOBER. The straw hut, bar pool was infested with birds pooping on the bar and in the pool. This was our fifth trip there and apparently our last. The price has gone up and you now must pay extra for drinks and find your own dinner and pay more for your lunch. Who came up with that idea?

My husband and I go away about 2-4 times a year for the last 12 years. We always do all inclusive and we always do Caribbean. We are used to a certain level of resort but we booked this one for a couple of reasons - we were impatient to wait for our upcoming November trip, and we hadn't visited this part of Dominican before. So a bit if a rushed trip - so I take some of the blame for booking this resort. THE PRO's - check in was easy and fast - room was large - price was good - very pretty landscape and area - friendly service (hit and miss) - cart (taxi) service was great - food at the buffet was pretty good - the beach was great - nice sand, calm waters, nice sandy bottom, perfect!!Lots of availability for chairs at both the beach and the pool area - Loved the beach dogs and cats - if you go there steal some buffet cold cuts in the morning and give them a snack - also please give them water! - getting chairs at the beach or main pool - no problems THE CONS - we travelled with Air Transit and we were made to wait an additional hour for our transfer from airport to resort in the boiling heat while we waited for what we were told was another passenger but what turned out to be an airport employee that our driver was doing a favour for him by giving him a ride home. - got into the room, exhausted and hot, and found the room to be super warm. A/C had not been turned on prior to our arrival and took ages to cool down. Even at it's coolest - it is just manageable - never a breath of nice cool air walking into our room the whole trip. Pro tip - grab a chair and turn your ceiling fan to as high as it goes. - TV was super small (like a computer monitor size and it is across the room from the bed - TV channels did not work for the first night at all but eventually sorted itself out but was spotty at times - balcony door was nearly impossible to open and close. You needed 3 arms! - bathroom - vanity sink was plugged - drained water super slow so if you went into the bathroom after your partner - sink was nearly full and would have to wait for it to go down a bit before you brush your teeth (i complained 3x about this during our stay and nothing was ever done) - you have to make reservations at the a la carts and if you dont make them on day one you are SOL. (poop out of luck) We couldn';t reserve anything by our second day. - pool - nice pool and easy to get seating but the pool is luke warm so not refreshing at all and they dont have someone skimming every morning so you walk into a pool full of dead insects and bird poop everywhere, every morning. - Drinks - if you want to drink any other beer other than Presidente on tap (not available in cold cans like in your room which is ridiculous, then you have to pay $3.00 per beer. - very difficult to get around the resort if you are not fit or upwardly mobile - they dont tell you this in the write up. Everything is up hill as it sits on a cliff. But they do have carts that will come get you and take you where you want to go os that was ok. There is also an to elevator to the beach which is the only way to get there and is pretty cool - no room service available - in the resort's defense - they dont advertise that, but we just assumed there would be room serice options

Thank you the Bahia Principe Grand Cayacoa team for the great vacation, we spend two wonderful weeks here in August-September 2023 and its not a first our vacation here. Perfect location, perfect weather! Resort providing great service, they try really hard to make your vacation perfect. The beach is not a big beach, it is a public beach with two entrances, one entrance from town side and another entrance (by elevator) from resort's side. Resort staff working hard to keep it clean. The food is good, great variety of everything every day. It is a beautiful location, quite and comfortable place and resort earn its "4 or 4,5 Stars" - when it wasn't overcrowded during the weekend. BUT... for weekends it is a different story. On weekends, when many Dominicans come on a one or two days passes, resort gets overcrowded. Really overcrowded everywhere: beach, swimming pool, bars, buffet with long unpleasant lines, staff not able to keep great service. So for weekend forget about "4 and half Stars service" - it is hardly 3 stars resort. Just be ready for that inconvenience on weekends.
