along with 3 friends during our trip to Holland, we decided to try something never done before, sleep in a castle. We were excited. I must to admit it was a little difficult to find the small town and we arrive at the castle in the dark, it seemed almost a horror film. The room still remember the musty smell... More

The castle itself is cool and the town is really cute but they don't give walking direction how to get there, the staff wasn't very knowledgeable about what was going on at the hostel. They even gave us incorrect directions on how to get to the main part of town. The gardens are only opened from 10am-6pm so because we... More

Remember this is a budget stay hostel, not an expensive swanky hotel. That said Assumburg castle, to give it its proper title, offers an amazing opportunity to experience something quite special. The hostel / castle built in the 15th century complete with moat and well maintained formal gardens beg to be explored both inside and out. We stayed here in... More

Located in a Castle with lovely surroundings, this hostel is a nice place to stay and it is also very reasonably priced. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the fact that we could not sleep due to the noise (outside) from a wedding party until midnight and kids running around and shouting until at least 2 in the morning. There... More

Stayokay Heemskerk is situated in the old castle of Assumburg. The castle has a beautiful garden, which you can visit during the day (closed in the late evening and night). The Stayokay rooms are in the castle itself or in a building nearby, the Orangerie (50 mtrs from the main entrance). We had a 4 pax room in the Orangerie.... More

If you are travelling by car, and you wish to visit Amsterdam, this is the choice instead of paying twice or more for a dirty overcrowded accommodation. Here you can rest and get downtown Amsterdam in a half an hour, more or less. You sleep in a 1300 castle, what else? There is no restaurant inside (olny drinks), but the... More

We have got a Groupon "Heemskerk: spanning in 13e eeuws Slot Assumburg met moordspel diner en kasteelovernachting" as a present from our relatives. GOOD: The castle and the park around are nice, and the dinner was tasty and a lot of fun!!! The personnel was also very friendly. BAD: However, the hostel room had dirty floor, the bunk beds were... The castle, including the garden, is really beautiful. We were here with the famliy for one night including a diner with murder game. The hostel has very basic rooms, which could definitely be presented better without raising the cost. We ordered an additional package with towels and beds made up instead of doing it yourself. A bit strange was that,... More

We, me plus my family of four, stayed here for one night. We drove up and yes, the castle is impressive - we were all excited about staying here. When we checked in I was slightly taken aback when the woman told me to "get my set of sheets over in the armoire". So after a 7 hour car ride,... More

Staying in a castle is a great attraction, especially if you're with kids, and this was no exception. We enjoyed the experience, but there were quite a few drawbacks. The place is a youth hostel, and there happened to be big groups of kids staying as well, which meant lots of noise into the night and early in the morning,... More

Dear Mr/Mrs Ofer, Thank you ever so much for your review! Sorry to hear that you experienced some noise during your stay. The castle is a monumental building, with old details...including the ceilings and walls. Additionally the castle is an attractive place to stay for groups, such as schools and families. We try to place groups and "other guests" in... More
