I booked a three night stay at Seven as a surprise for my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I didn’t know what to expect, never having stayed at a B&B before. Upon arrival we were pleased to see a beautifully and tastefully restored charming farmhouse. As soon as we walked inside, we felt both calm and excited at the same time, like a big hug from a dear friend. The decor is the perfect combination of cozy farmhouse and minimalist contemporary creating an ambiance that is at once tranquil, replenishing and energizing. The rooms and outdoor spaces are modern and immaculately clean. The innkeeper, Beth, and her staff’s attention to detail is evident throughout the property, as is their desire to insure each guest’s comfort - soft, fluffy towels (and plenty of them) and bedding, beautiful bathrooms, invigorating showers, incredibly comfortable outdoor chaises, tilting umbrellas, plenty of books and games, bicycles, European style breakfast buffet with fresh eggs, delicious jams and spreads, fresh produce and freshly baked bread and chocolate croissants as flaky and delicious as any I’ve had in Paris, and so much more. Beth is a lovely, considerate host who seemed to quietly and effortlessly anticipate our needs, all the while giving us all the privacy we could want. Our stay was short, but we left feeling renewed and refreshed, ready to return to real life, happy to have made new friends and looking forward to returning to celebrate another special occasion.

We had never been to Shelter Island before and our experience at"Seven" was a wonderful one. Beth, Dominika, (and Evie the sweet house Weimaraner) were so very welcoming and gave us great suggestions on things to do during our visit. The house is totally renovated and decorated beautifully incorporating modern features while still maintaining old world charm. There was also very unique artwork displayed throughout the house and a binder with information on all the pieces. Everything was meticulously clean and the staff and guests were all consciously following safe distancing and wearing masks in all indoor spaces. Loved the extremely comfortable bed and waking up to our picnic breakfast every day! All good vibes!!!

Absolutely a perfect stay at Seven on Shelter Island! The location is ideal being just a short walk, bike ride or drive to Crescent Beach.
The style of the property, created by the owner Beth, is unmatched by any other property with an impressive attention-to-detail both inside with stunning artwork, a display of beautiful books and games in one of the lounges as well as outside with a wonderful Inviting Heated Pool ( which we dipped into more than once) , Lounge Chairs, Umbrellas , Firepit and Manicured Gardens surrounding the deck. Baskets of Pool/Beach Towels were noticeably available as well as Insect Repellent, if needed, before trekking into a preserve on the Island.
Our Guest Room was stylish, stunning, inviting and extremely clean including the bathroom and private deck. The Bathroom included Luxurious toiletries, bathrobes and spa like towels which all were a welcoming addition and nice touch. The King Size bed was so comfortable that my husband enjoyed sleeping in one day while I hopped on the Peloton Bike in the Gym area before Breakfast.
WOW is all I can say about The breakfast created by Patrick which had a European elegance that included Croissants, Fruit and Berries, Juice, Yogurt, Cheeses, Organic Eggs and more and was slightly different each day and 100% Delicious!! Each morning, while enjoying our coffee and breakfast on the deck, overlooking the stunning view of the heated pool, the beauty and serenity of Seven shines even if the sun wasn’t.
Seven has a beautiful appointed gym area within its own space. Sliding barn doors open to allow for summer breezes and a view of the Heated Pool. The gym area includes a Peloton bike, a Workout Streaming Fitness “Mirror”, Indoor Row Machines and other equipment /amenities for your workouts.
The staff at Seven are so personable, accommodating, friendly and exceptional in their respective roles!!
Beth, the owner, made us feel like family and we even got a chance to play with “Peaches”, her lovely Weimaraner. Beth is a kind, welcoming and sweet Host. She went above and beyond for us and any other guest(s)! Being our first time to Shelter Island though we grew up on Long Island, we’re grateful we found this true hidden gem on Shelter Island. For a truly new experience, we took her recommendation to attend a rehearsal concert at the Perlman Music School Program, which was just around the block! The gifted talent of the young string players was hugely entertaining and amazing to watch including their respect and rapport with Mr. Perlman.
We will definitely stay at Seven over any other property/hotel on Shelter Island!! Looking to be back here in the near future!

Book your vacation today to Shelter Island and stay at Seven on Shelter! My husband and I wanted a quick getaway from our Providence home, and we could not have been happier with our choice of Seven. I felt entirely safe and secure in our Guest Room. Because of Covid, we were apprehensive about other guests, but it was very easy to maintain our distance but still enjoy all of what Shelter Island has to offer. The biggest surprise was morning breakfast which was an individual huge picnic basket for every room filled with all kinds of breakfast delicacies. There was even indivudal coffee and tea pots for every room. Magnificent! Go if you can, and enjoy Seven's great hospitality.

Seven on Shelter is a tastefully conceived, expertly run, and seriously relaxing inn. The staff were warm, available, and attentive to every detail. The grounds are beautifully arranged with a heated swimming pool, comfortable seating and lounge chairs, perfect for gathering with your group or spending time alone reading by the pool.

The house has a kind of Scandinavian feel: very natural with lots of fresh air because of the open doors and windows (though the rooms do have ample AC). Our en suite room was quiet, immaculate, very pretty, and well stocked with thoughtfully-selected toiletries. Sunset Beach is a ten minute walk away (or probably five minutes by bike, which are provided). Breakfast -- BREAKFAST! Delicious pastries, berries, jams, cheeses, cappuccinos.

In short: Our two nights at Seven were perfect in every way. Well, maybe there was one thing that could have been better. A longer stay.

We so enjoyed our stay at "Seven." We received a warm welcome from everyone there. The accommodations are top notch. Comfortable, clean, and beautifully appointed. A thermometer was made available for temperature checks as well as hand-sanitizer and social distancing instructions. The contact-free breakfast basket was generously prepared with care and included delicious french yogurt, granola, fresh berries, cheese, pastries, jams, and a thermos of excellent coffee. There are bicycles to use (for an added activity fee) and a porch to enjoy. We hope to book again in the near future!

This was an unexpected trip that met every expectation!
Beth, the owner, is doing exactly what she should be doing! The space is filled with eclectic art, modern furnishings, and marine appropriate accessories. Immaculately maintained and attention to detail.
Breakfasts are lush, with organic yogurt, fruit, breads, croissants, cheese, juice, and the most delicious coffee I have ever had!!!
The rooms are clean, with sweet smelling bathroom toiletries, plush white towels, and bathrobes.
A sitting area is offered to read a local book, while overlooking the manicured greenery outside.
Also, the newly installed in ground pool allows you to bask in the sun, as you lie on the bright red cushioned lounge chairs.
This truly the oasis of shelter island!!!
Thank you for a wonderful memory:)

My boyfriend and I stayed at Seven last summer for a celebratory weekend together. Even though we stayed awhile ago, we haven’t stopped talking about our time on Shelter Island. Beth is one of the kindest and most authentic owners I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. She has thoughtfully curated every detail from a vibrant art collection and luxurious guest suites to unexpected amenities like afternoon rosé, bike rentals, and bags of beach gear that we could borrow. We were worried because we arrived without a car but Beth went the extra mile for us — she shuttled us at dinner and the ferry (even giving us tokens for fare!). We’ve recommended this gem of a “modern b&b” to so many of our friends and look forward to coming back as soon as we can this summer!

What a gorgeous gem! The b&b is infused with thoughtful, chic details: from the breakfast buffet, with delicious and healthy options, to the Slim Aarons style pool and cabana. Make up remover in the rooms and sunscreen in the common room! Luscious white bedding, elegant chaise lounges, plenty of clean towels, sun filled spaces. I tend to shy away from guest houses and the like for fear of having to chat with strangers. This is different; guests and staff were kind and easy going. I felt completely at ease and ready to enjoy the several coffee and tea choices each morning (and afternoon, if you’d like). And Shelter Island has so much to offer — kayaking and hiking in a nature preserve, local small town character, biking from beach to beach. Absolutely lovely girls’ long weekend away! Couldn’t have been better. Thank you Beth and Caitlyn!

What a crew! From Dominika our on site concierge to Beth our host we couldn’t have been made more comfortable! Everything has been thought of here so you can leave your stress in the parking lot, enter and enjoy! From the beach chair, towels, umbrella accommodations to the gourmet European picnic basket made custom each day you simply cannot miss here. Especially in a time with Covid concerns they make it completely safe and comfortable in their space. We will be back soon as our four and a half year old is already asking why we are leaving. Cheers to the crew at Seven see you again real soon.

How far is it from the winerys
Answer from Beth S
Shelter Island, New York13 contributions
Seven is five to ten miles, via a erry ride to the wineries on both the North and the South Forks of Long Island. Shelter Island is located in between the North Fork (which has over 100 wineries), and the South Fork, also knows as The Hamptons. To get to the North Fork from Shelter Island it is a quick 7 minute ferry ride on the Shelter Island North Ferry. To get to the South Fork from Shelter Island it is a quick five minute ferry ride on the Shelter Island South Ferry. These ferries are cash only and take walk on passengers, bikes, and up to 26 cars at a time. In the Hamptons you'll find The Wölffer Estate, Channing Daughters Winery, as well as Duck Walk Vineyards. All excellent vineyards, and very beautiful. On the North fork, there are wonderful wineries very close to the ferry in Greenport, and neighboring towns of Southhold, Cutchogue, Mattituck and many many more.
