I've passed Ashford in the Water and River Cottage many times and vowed to stay here. So glad we've finally got round to it. My husband and I chose to stay here for our anniversary. We stayed in the Superior double with an suite. Amazing room. The gardens which lead down to the riverside are truly beautiful. The hostess Ginny...

Having stayed at some very nice bed and breakfasts this is at the top of the list, from the location for getting around Derbyshire or just sitting out in the garden next to the river, on a summers afternoon, it's got to be one of the best. An excellent choice of breakfast, the hosts very knowledgable with John a mine...

We stayed here for 2 days. When we got here we were met by Gilly & John who were the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. John showed us to our room, it was cosy, comfy, very clean and there was some nice little touches in the bathroom. Breakfast was yummy with homemade bread, jams and marmalade. We will...

We were looking forward to this visit because the picture was very charming of the cottage but were pleasantly surprised at how nice the rooms were.Everything about River Cottage is immaculate and comfortable .It was a bit breezy for sitting by the river in the romantic garden but hope to next time. Its close to Bakewell but actually in a more...

I booked online from the US with no knowledge of the area, based only on reviews and the charming-looking photos. It lived up to my imagined expectations for sure, with a beautiful location, cozy rooms, excellent breakfast, parking on site, and good internet. The hosts were friendly and full of information about the area. Room 4 was perfect, with ensuite...

All of the previously described 5* reviews for River Cottage are so very accurate, in our opinion. We stayed for 2 nights (18/19 May 2016) with Gilly & John, and instead of repeating the same glowing feedback of others, we'll just briefly say the following: A superb location in a really beautiful part of England with first class facilities and...

We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean with everything we needed. Fantastic breakfasts and a good choice. The hosts were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They gave us all the information for the area, places to see and recommended eating places. There lots...

My partner and I have just returned from our two night stay at The River Cottage. This was my first trip to Derbyshire and I had undertaken significant time researching accommodation that would suit our requirements. We referred to Trip Advisor and the feedback was excellent so we considered this to be a good indication. We were not disappointed in...

Fantastic location.....beautiful rooms with luxury ensuite....made to feel really welcome by hosts and the breakfast was cooked and presented perfectly. Short drive to lots of local beauty spots and pubs. A couple of pubs in the village are a short walk away and the food is great. Perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the country.
