What a wonderful place. A building oozing with charm. Located just out of town on a quiet green road. Our room was of nice size and well renovated and fitted out. Laura the owner was a delight to deal with a genuinely lovely person. Breakfasts were the highlight of the day with a great selection and a well presented '... More

I think that says it all. No silly b*llocks gastro 'tasters', just an interesting menu with great food and service. Dogs and walkers welcome, assuming both are well-behaved. One word of advice: don't eat for three days beforehand...these are big portions

Lovely traditional old fashioned pub. Went on a Saturday night - it wasn't too busy which was ideal for eating with children but it was busy enough to still have a lovely atmosphere. The food was lovely, large portions and fast and friendly service. Couldn't fault it in any way.

Great experience ... a real "old style" inn. Meals (and choices) were excellent. My wife was very happy that they had vegetarian options on the menu. Better meals than any we had experienced throughout Ireland and UK so far. Not luxurious but very clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable. Hosts Laura and Craig and staff were very friendly and... Stayed, drank and ate here. The accommodation was perfect - comfortable and clean. It was a Sunday evening and the bar was full of friendly locals. Excellent choice of drinks and great food. It was a hugely enjoyable stay, way too short but we hope to be back - a fantastic pub delivering all a great pub should and with... More

Visited lunchtime Tuesday. We sat in the outside eating area which is rather tired looking and the tables rather shabby. Ordered 2 sandwiches and one Anglers lunch which took 35 minutes to arrive even though the pub was virtually empty. It felt rather like they were not prepared for customers at that time! The food was average and we felt... More

I am sorry that you were not entirely happy with your lunch. The Cheshire Cheese Inn is incredibly old and requires an enormous amount of upkeep. You will have noticed the builder’s tools in the beer garden and hopefully seen that the entire garden is in the middle of refurbishment. The tables are being sanded down and varnished and the... We ate he on Bank Holiday Saturday, going early to get a table since it is quite rightly busy and books up well. The pie of the day, game and Rioja was a pie rather than a pie top, home made and delicious with its own pot of gravy. This also accompanied the venison haunch steak which looked good, and... More

This was a really successful find and was close to our B&B at Underleigh House. The range of the menu was pretty extensive – see photos – as was the size of the portions. The Spring Rolls and Salmon toast were the most popular starters. Sara attended to our every need in a speedy manner despite our party being 8... More

Love this little country pub. After 7.5 miles of walking. we needed refreshments! Abbeydale Moonshine, pint of Lime and soda, and Hathersedge Wild Swan went down well. Old world style pub with friendly bar staff. They serve food but we didn't eat.

The Cheshire Cheese Inn is a special place for us and we visit for a meal. We have always received a warm welcome and attentive service. The folk nights are great just to watch, listen and join in if you want. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
