The staff at the poachers arms were very welcoming and friendly, the room was lovely, bright and clean and the food was delicious, I would recommend the Thai curries they have available :) I would very much recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the Hope/Castleton are.

We had a one night stay - fairly quiet but it was the end of January. Lovely cosy room - very clean and a warm welcoming bar and restaurant area. Not sure how long the owners have been here but we really enjoyed our stay. They still do traditional English food - all home made but also a Thai menu... More

Came for a weekend as was attending a trekking event, this was the closest place to stay. There were relief staff keeping it open to 'honour' the bookings that weekend Kitchen had been re opened for the trek event Cash only.... not great when you need to pay for a 2 night stay! Bar had minimal stock - no sparkling... More

We were a party of four, up for a long weekend of Peak District walking, and staying on a B&B basis. On the tickbox approach, The Poacher's Arms provided: clean rooms and bedding; hot water; working showers; a generous cooked breakfast; working WiFi. But that only tells part of the story, for what is a pub restaurant with rooms. We... More

Setting in the conservatory was very nice. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was dire. The menu selection main course is 4 items but 1 was unavailable the other 3 were very mediocre. The service was so slow that it took an hour between ordering and being served it is a good job we were virtually the only customers in... More

I booked this hotel/pub at the last minute for April when other plans fell through. I couldn't get into other places in Hope/Castleton I've used before but this place did have spare capacity for what I wanted. The landlady/proprietor was new in and had only just started getting her teeth into it but what I can say is that she... More

We stayed here with our son, daughter-in-law and infant grandson to attend a wedding. The landlords were most helpful in giving us suitable rooms, away from other guests so the baby wouldn't disturb them and they wouldn't disturb him. The rooms were clean and well stocked with tea-making supplies. We, too, were somewhat surprised that the rooms were not made... More

Under new management and since Brian and Petra went it doesn't have the same ambience or attention to detail. Bedrooms are as they were when they left but box with toiletries obviously hadn't been replenished as there were only 2 half used shampoo bottles and when we came back from a day of walking the bedroom hadn't been 'serviced' -... I recently stayed at this B&B whilst on a business trip to the area. It was not a pleasant one. On arrival the place had an unpleasant smell about it, which may have explained why all the windows in the room had been left open on a cold and wet day. Clearly the proprietor was trying to disguise something. The... More
