Booked the week before . A bit concerned due to previous reviews however we found a small welcoming hotel in lovely grounds in an ideal location to visit Buxton Bakewell and Chatsworth house . Whilst the corridors are in need of updating and modernisation the lounge , bar , dining rooms and bedroom were modern , cosy and relaxed .... More

Hotel is very clean and comfortable. Loft room 23 massive we loved it. Recommend that you eat elsewhere though the evening meals are terrible for value and quality. Seemed to mostly come from the freezer. Would stay again though as very clean friendly and homely.

Very clean, basic hotel. Beds very comfortable, poor lighting in bedroom. Good breakfast, no frills. Would stay there again. Great location for tissington trail. We enjoyed our overnight stay. Thank you.

Just terrible. Cold room, poor food selection even worse management not interested in any issues and refused to even discuss why we so unhappy; a case of like it or lump it. Trading standards should investigate the advertised was/now pricing.

This is not a premier in or a chain. If you want corporate sanitation this is not for you. But a big fluffy tomcat and a friendly staff group all make this a lovely quirky little hotel. If you want to walk Dovedale is around a mile away and the tissington trail is at the back of the hotel. We... More

I stayed here as a surprise for my partners birthday. I chose it based on its location to Dove Dale which was a route id chosen for us to walk. The hotel was grossly overpriced at £99 for one night including breakfast and was booked via Expedia. The building itself has been poorly renovated but it's in desperate need of... More

This was a lovely hotel in a lovely location. I only stayed one night as I was walking from Buxton there and returning next day. I was worn out on arrival and very weary after 18 miles of walking but was welcomed by the friendly staff and the room was very spacious, clean and bright, with all the things one... More

A very dog friendlly, pleasant place. Staff are really nice. The "cottage" area had emergency lighting that was so bright it was hard to sleep! The recent history of the place seems to be troubled (absentee former owners) but kept going by dedicate staff who were great... apparently the new owners are a bit more involve. a great location on... This hotel could not be in a better location if you wish to walk or cycle the Tissington Trail. All you do is go out the back gate and there you are. We arrived, easily found on the A515 towards Buxton from Ashbourne at about 4pm to be told the room wasn't ready(turns out there were a few that weren't... More

This hotel was booked through a discount site and to be frank the room was shocking the "Breakfast Buffett" was toast with jam, butter or marmalade and pre packaged cereal. I have stayed in hostels in Europe for cheaper than the discounted rate and they had a Buffett that with a lot more to offer. Also I'm not sure a... More
