Built in 1316 high on the hill over the Rhine, by Archbishop of Mainz. But soon, by 1344 the castle fell in disrepair till 1800. In 1823 the Prince Fredrick of Prussia bought the castle and had it totally rebuilt in the true medieval romantic style along with a drawbridge. The castle became the favorite residence of Prince. Worth a visit self explore and with self explanation. Amazing architecture. Known as Falkenburg and under UNESCO world heritage. I wonder how many Antlers collection were display in this castle. This castle occurs in 1213 more than 800 years.

Staying in a castle was a goal for this trip, and. Rug Reichenstein achieved it. The building is still under renovation (to be completed within the week), so there were construction materials about, but no noise to complain of. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely. The view of the Rhine from the window was great....
