At the rugged, mountainous border of Afghanistan from Tajikistan, in a setting that feels like no other place in Central Asia, you’ll find Khorog Serena Inn. It’s exceptionally peaceful here at the “Roof of the World,” framed by wood and stone architecture and majestic views of the Panj River and the Pamir Mountains. The hotel’s interiors are exceptionally cosy and intimate with six rooms and suites designed in the manner of a traditional Pamiri home. Elements of local heritage and culture can be found in design touches like wood ceilings, graceful antiques and furnishings and richly patterned fabrics. Social areas include an elegant Tajik-style lobby and an indoor/outdoor restaurant with river views. Partake in exhilarating experiences created to enrich your visit. Take a trekking tour through the Pamir Mountains. Browse for locally made clothing and antique jewellery at an Afghan market. During the evening, relax in a chair by the river and watch the sun set over the mountains. Inspired by its ancient mountain surroundings, Khorog Serena Inn infuses rustic charm and style with unmatched service and amenities befitting one of the finest hotels in Tajikistan.

Great respite after the homestays along the Pamir Highway from Osh Kyrgyzstan
Comfortable place, decent largish size rooms and decent Wifi. Breakfast is included and it is good. Only 6 rooms so no other amenities. The gardens outside are very pleasant overlooking the Panj river and Afghanistan across the bridge nearby. This place is a little outside Khorog, so a little inconvenient to get to the town and back; especially at night when taxi's are near impossible to find to bring you back. Also, our room smelled a little and since the place was full, it was not possible to get it changed. The staff were ALL excellent and took great care of us.

    Lovely hotel
Stayed at the Serena inn in Khorog for one night last october during a 42 day trip through Khrys,Tajik,Uzbek and Turkmen. The hotel is the best in town and only has 6 large rooms overlooking the river. After a fair few nights in homestays and yurts,it was nice to get some luxury. The only downside is the hotel is a few kms out of town.

    Wonderful garden!
We stayed in the Serena Inn Hotel for one night in July 2014. Amazing premises (large, beautiful garden, amazing view on the river, etc) and the hotel-building itself is special and unique. Only six rooms in this hotel and you can notice that on how the staff treats you - personal, no hurry, friendly. It is the most expensive hotel in town (we paid USD 135 for a night), but for us it was worth it after a couple of nights in home stays. Beds are great, satellite TV, a good and large bathroom. The only thing we really didn't like in the Serena Inn was the food. Neither the dinner (on the menu everything looks and sounds amazing, but don't believe what you read) nor the breakfast was up to any standards.

Arrived here in my classic car having driven from Almaty in my classic car en route to Bishkek and after the dust and bumps this was perfection. The rooms are decorated in a relaxing style, the garden by the river has stunning views of the bridge to Afghanistan and the Afghan mountains and you can eat the excellent food outside. There are 6 rooms and as our group had 5 it was like being at home, the central reception was an old Pamiri house and set out like a large living room. The staff are really helpful and told me exactly where to find a shop selling lapis lazuli stones and jewellery. When the fridge stopped working in my room they stored my items in the kitchen fridge and told me I could have access to them at any time. The new fridge for my room arrived the day. fI you are ever in Khorog this place is worth it.

After travelling through the amazing Wakhan Valley and staying at various Homestays/Guesthouses with basic amenities, Serana Inn was a very welcoming respite for us. The room we stayed in was HUGE - it took 33 steps (we counted!) to walk from the bed t the bathroom. The garden and its compound was beautiful, and carefully taken care of. The location is not near the centre of Khorog, but we were there not for the purpose of exploring the town, so location wasn't most important for us. We were there to refresh and rejuvenate, before our next leg of journey through the Bartang Valley. We had dinner on our night there, and although the choices were limited, it was cooked to perfection! The best meal we have had in Tajikistan, I would say. Breakfast was included in our rate, and it was a generous spread, with very good coffee. We can highly recommend this place. We arrived at the marvellous place dusty and dirty, but left scrubbed clean and rejuvenated!!

Serena Inn is a wonderful cosy home-like option in Khorog. A boutique-like hotel with only a few rooms at one level only, it is located on the bank of River Pyanj. Their beautiful garden with the river and mountains in the backdrop is great view to wake up to. They have an excellent restaurant with very good breakfast as well as other meal options including good veg options. They were very helpful to us to customise to our needs as well as to pack lunch. We had some of our best food in this place on our way to and back from deep into the Pamirs. The staff is excellent and we must mention Oigud, Anisa and her sister (sorry, her name escapes us!) were super. We highly recommend this option - if we do this trip again, we will plan for a rest day in this place for sure to enjoy it more.

The view of the 6 rooms are fantastic, facing to the river and Afghanistan. The staff is very respectful and friendly. Because it's a 6 rooms hotel,it's small hotel but with lots of space to be and enjoy. The food is good and the service good. The best hotel in khourog.

Khorog Serena is located on the river. The ambience is unbelievable. The food is excellent and priced reasonably. Excellent service too. I strongly recommend it. The menu has both Indian and Tajiki foods. If you are planning to visit Khorog, donor miss this gem.

I have stayed here multiple times and I must say that this is the best place in town to stay. A bit away from town Centre but the comfort, food, service and attitude and behavior of staff is awesome. The room size is very good and the temperature controls are highly satisfactory. The mountain and river views are matchless. This is a place I would love to come again and again.

Thank you Anina and Anita! We had driven from Dushanbe to Khorog. We could not have found a more wonderful place to stay. The service was outstanding, air conditioning of the best, room superb. But it was the personal care we received from both Anina and Anisa which made it superb! The breakfast they packed for us was the best and lasted us for two days:).Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

This modern hotel is right on the river, near the bridge to Afganistan. The room was clean and comfortable. There are relatively few rooms (6 maybe), all on ground level. The Pamir Restaurant had good food and acceptable service.

Look no further. A genuine Serena with the same levels of service you would expect anywhere.....except you are on the edge of the Pamirs and across the river from Afghanistan, with towering mountains all around you. Excellent service, well appointed rooms (perhaps slightly dated now), fast wifi, credit card payments, satellite TV, great shower, and probably the best restaurant for hundreds of miles in any direction. Why consider anywhere else? If you can, stay in the large room where the Aga Khan slept during his visit here many years ago.
