My fiance and I along with a group of friends decided to stay at this gorgeous retreat as part of our big Kerala adventure, whilst stopping at Thekkady. We had the best time. All the staff at Niraamaya were extremely attentive, caring, generous and thoughtful and made us feel completely at home. The retreat is beautifully enclosed within the leafy hilltop, with a lovely pool overlooking the forest. The individual houses range between mountain and garden view and are named after a spice (we were pepper). The homes are very well kept, wonderfully scented and came with complimentary toiletries and an amazing shower room. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options were first class, with lots of attention to detail from staff. We were left lovely little chocolates on our bed at the end of the day, and were given a goodbye dessert to enjoy on our last day. The icing on the cake was that the team organised for us to plant a tree, to mark the moment, and in anticipation of our upcoming wedding in the summer. It was a beautiful touch and end to a wonderful experience. Thank you Onem, and to every single member of staff who made our stay so memorable and relaxing. We would highly recommend this retreat will definitely come back one day, and wish you all the best for the future.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Niramaaya Cardamom Club during the Christmas weekend. It’s a quaint little property with all of 10-12 rooms which is a good thing as it ensures it’s not overly crowded like some of the other, larger commercial hotels in Thekkady.
One can choose between the cottage style rooms and log cabin. We opted for the log cabins which are cosy, have a small balcony and provide gorgeous view of the mist covered, verdant hills.
The property is nestled in one corner of Thekkady which means there is no unnecessary hustle bustle or traffic. We enjoyed the peaceful stay, waking up to delightful sounds of various birds chirping.
The highlight of the place is the excellent team and staff that runs the hotel. Starting with the front office manager Dhaanya who was ever so helpful right from the booking stage, logistics etc to the teams at the restaurant and housekeeping.
A special thanks to the restaurant manager Sivanandan Ashok and his team (Girish) for their superb hospitality, ensuring we were well looked after and pampered in every possible way. The food is excellent, they have a great chef who makes delicious local cuisine so we made sure we had all meals at the property. On Christmas Eve, the hotel organised a beautiful cultural evening, inviting local artists. Ashok specially curated a 5 course Christmas dinner with local delicacies which was excellent.
Overall this is a great property that gives you the opportunity to unwind in a natural setting. Don’t go looking for five star luxury and you won’t be disappointed.

I went to Niraamaya retreats along with friends for a week end leisure. I went here without much expectations and really it was very good.
Rooms were very clean and maintained well. Services were prompt and they took care very well. Swimming pool were very cleanly maintained with very minimal amount of chlorination. Foods were good but bit costly. Since covid they stopped morning breakfast buffet and asked us to select the food from menu. They had enough varieties of food to enjoy it. Since we didnt know the quantity of food before ordering it, we wasted some food. We are sorry for that.. Location of this resort is really worth spending..
Mountain view rooms were really nice. Lighting on these rooms were pleasant for a romantic feel but they can also add some more lights to light brighter.
Insects were there during night time. So avoid opening the doors in night time and you cant use the provided balcony during nights.
There is not much nearby places to see other than few places.
RAJA/Rajan who was taking care of our food and services were extremely helpful during the visit.
There were no much cons for this resort other than lighting between the rooms when you walk during night. I believe it is kept in such a way that it wont affect insects or insects coming inside the room.

My mother and I were on a very special trip to India and by chance ended up at three Niraamaya Resorts...and I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. Above all else the service was the best I’ve ever experienced, so personal, so caring, we felt like we were guests of honour for the entire trip. Everything was seamless, dropped off, picked up, always someone waiting who knew our name and had a cool refreshing towel for us! We were completely taken care of. The resorts are beautiful and well worth a visit. The Ayurvedic centre of the wellness brand really shines at each resort and is incredible ...not to be missed. I’ve rarely been so impressed by a resort, but this one has heart as well as class.

This is not a luxury resort. The location is quite beautiful, but the resort needs work. The rooms are run down. The pool is scenic, but there is no staff or bar there, and the lounge chairs are in disrepair with old, discolored towels laid out. Despite the chilly time of year, there is no heating in the pool, so it is not inviting.
The sole restaurant has limited fare with very slow service and each item brought one at a time. Even a cup of coffee took about 10-15 minutes to come out. Like their other resorts (we stayed at their Kumarakom location), they do not serve alcohol, and you are only allowed to consume your own supply in your room. Laundry service is advertised, but when we actually requested it, we found out that it is a send out from the hotel which would take about 36 hrs to get back.
Wifi is advertised but does not truly exist as it frequently does not connect and is slow even when it briefly logs on. This is frustrating given that cell phone reception is limited in that remote an area. Further complicating things is the approach to the hotel which requires driving for 10 minutes on a rough, unpaved road off the main road. In monsoon season, it would be very difficult. Even with it being passable, it limited our excursions off the property as once out, we needed to stay out.
While they accepted foreign credit cards for booking online, they would not allow use of the same cards on site for payment. So you will have to have cash or access to an Indian account. This facility has the potential to be more, but some work needs to be put into renovation, better amenities, and faster service. It certainly should not advertise as a 5 star resort.

The best part is the hospitality of the people that work here. Stayed for two nights and days with my family (6 people). If anyone in the group has limited mobility, requests the "Mint" room, but everything is generally very close. There's an infinity pool and a spa with reasonable rates. We felt at home and relaxed the whole time. It is very quiet at night and the restaurant on premise has excellent service and tasty food.

Our experience at Niraamaya was our favorite of our travels throughout India. From reception, we were treated like royalty. They were poised and seemed to be awaiting our arrival, with herbal towel for freshening and welcome drink to quench our thirst. We stayed in one of the private cottages, up on stilts, overlooking the lush, green jungle, all around. I had requested a private, quiet location and unfortunately that request was not accommodated on our first night. We were originally placed right next to the staff quarters, resulting in a bright light shining into our room and frequent, loud cell phone conversations. This room also overlooked a neighboring house with a barking dog. The next day, the lovely staff insisted that we move to another cottage that had just opened up and boy were we grateful. It was a bit removed from neighboring cottages and surrounded by jungle. Rumor has it, monkeys frequently visit the balcony of this cottage, but sadly we did not experience this during our stay. See my photos, as words cannot do the accommodations and scenery justice. I so enjoyed doing yoga on our balcony, in the jungle fog, listening to the beautiful sounds of birds calling to one another. The staff at Niraamaya was top notch and always ready to serve. Sadly, I can no longer recall all of their names but our server, Ravindra always made our dining room visits special with menu recommendations and pleasant conversation, inclusive of historical facts. He was a wealth of knowledge, educating us on the cuisine of both Southern and Northern India. The food was some of the best we had in India and many of the spices and fruits were cultivated on the property. The dining room itself, offered breathtaking views, surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and looking out onto the picturesque pool. We had the pleasure of taking in jungle storms while we were here, a welcomed contrast to the 365 days of sunshine we experience in Southern California. I can emphatically say that Niraamaya must be one of, if not the best place to stay when visiting the spectacular Kumily region. We would also recommend visiting the Periyar Tiger Reserve to experience nature in the raw. Do note that the drive up the mountain (we were coming from Varkala) is truly awe inspiring, it is a very windy road with many blind corners, so be sure to hire a driver you trust for the journey.

Visited the place with my family and mother-in-law in first week of March. It is a small boutique resort amidst nature. It is located within the forest, where u are woken up by the chirping of birds. The day we landed it was Women’s Day.... as a nice gesture they put cake n chocolate in our room when we came back in the evening... on the Holi Day they had a huge celebration bash, which were well appreciated n was quite thoughtful of them. The staff went out of the way to make our stay comfortable. Cleanliness in and around our cottage was impeccable. A must go place if one need to have a relaxing holiday and needs to detox from city life. Would recommend the place to friends n relatives

Wow, this hotel is a gem in the middle of jungle, it’s a small boutique hotel, has 13 cottages in total but really the stay was amazing, the view of the cottages is beautiful, no pollution at all, located far away from the Kumaly town, the only problem is the road leading to the resort needs repair. The breakfast is different than other hotel/resorts, It’s on a la carte basis but it’s really fresh and delicious. The service was also nice, welcoming staff were amazing, we couldn’t use the swimming pool because it was cold ( not heated ). Thanks Niramaya for everything and hope that you offer a complementary massage to the agents customers similar to your direct customers.

We went for our honeymoon to Kerala. Thekkady was on our way to Munnar and we had planned only to stay over there for the night. The experience at Niraamaya was THE best (and we were staying in Taj and other five star hotels on pur trip). Mr Ashok put in his great efforts to make that one day stay at Thekkady very memorable.
He called us up when we were on our way to know about our arrival timings. We were getting late, so we asked him to arrange some dinner for us in advance in case the kitchen would close by the time we arrive, to which he said that all the food is freshly prepared for the guests, and that he would get the kitchen staffs to wait for us.
On arrival, we were served with freshly prepared mint pineapple juice, and that was heavenly! So much so that we requested him for the same juice the next day in breakfast (it was not in the regular menu they had), and he accommodated our request with smile.
The food was delicious, and Ashok Sir went extra mile to arrange for candle light dinner by the side of their pool. The experience was top notch.
The breakfast menu was again customized as per our requests and suggestions from him.
The property was serene, cottages amidst greens, with the chirping of birds and moonlight all around. The chairs and table outside outside our cottage was where we spent quite sometime hangout out, soaking in the beauty of nature.
We only stayed for one night, but that was the best experience of our trip. So much so that we still feel one day was too few to be spent over here! We would like to that Mr Ashok and his team for all their personalised attention and efforts they put in to make our stay so memorable.

If you are looking for calm relaxing holidays waking up to the sounds of birds in the morning , enjoy personalised breakfast , pampered with ayurvedic massage , swimming pool thi is the place to be. Hospitality is at the best to make you feel at home away from Home. Our kids enjoyed giving bath to elephants, visiting spice gardens , boating . We had tow mountain view log cabins with balcony with all comforts.We had a cooking class with Chef SINI. Good places around to discover spices.
