Outrageously good views from every room. A long drive on tricky roads leads to this marvellous lodge, overlooking the mountains in central Lesotho. Through the fittingly named gates of paradise, this lodge is a haven of tranquillity. Peacocks and other birds abound inside the grounds, there are plentiful hiking and pony trekking trails with cheap local guides and 500 year... More

Though this lodge might not be able to compete with the other popular lodges of Southern Africa in terms of Luxury or style, what it comes loaded with is character. And that is the very reason why this is considered as an institution in Lesotho. A Backpacker's legendary hangout, it is a great place to connect with other interesting travelers... More

Amazing place! definitely worth a visit! Don't miss out the choir and the band! You can do many activities there and even if is cold the place can be very cosy! There is a nice bar.. We enjoyed ourselves in some nice amarula during the afternoon

I spent a great day with a guide from Malealea Lodge! He showed to me and my friends the rock polls of Malealea with professionalism and patience. The place is not so easy to reach, you have to hike, walk, run but it was very funny and our guide was ready to help us in every time. Anyway, I suggest... More

The only cold attitude between all of these friendly staff is that of this snowman we build next to our hut with a great view of these snow covered mountains. And then to top it all of we had way to much well prepared food during dinner and spoilt with a traditional breakfast. . Please keep your great service up... More

We did not know what to expect going to Lesotho. But Malealea opened our eyes. It is remote, surrounded by beautiful mountains. The people are poor but they are incredibly friendly. The children will melt your heart. The visit to the village school house and orphanage was humbling. If you go, do not forget to bring clothes to donate. Our... More

We stayed this weekend July 2016 for 2 nights and found the service, staff, and accommodation to be incredibly welcoming. 3 young kids who just loved the play ground, camp grounds, and friendly staff Also the communal kitchen really helped us with kids snacks in between meal times. Glenn (the manager) and Jackie were proactive in arranging dinner and food... More

I traveled here with a group of 6 to get a Lesotho experience in a week's time. Glenn, the proprietor of the lodge was amazingly helpful from the start. Our transfer from Maseru was seamless. Our activities were all booked in advance (horseback riding, homestay visit), but there was plenty of room for additions and alterations. The meals on property... More

My husband and my brother-in-law and I stayed here and had to extend our stay because we were enjoying our time so much. A family business that has been empowering the local community for year. Set up through a Development Trust, employing locals, leveraging the community's ponies for treks, etc. An amazing place to come and visit to really experience... More
