We had a fantastic five night stay at the Arctic Guesthouse and would definitely recommend it! We spent the first two nights in the guesthouse, which was very traditional (not modern, but very pleasant), two comfy single beds, a fridge, microwave, a kettle and a good sized bathroom with a warm shower. We then spent three nights in their Aurora Huts (Igloos) on the frozen lake. The huts are ultra modern and have lots of facilities packed into a small space. A toilet (no shower), two gas cooking rings, a fridge (storage box under the ice), bluetooth speaker, fishing hole, good wifi, efficient and warm heating and chargers for usb. Our host Jorma has been fantastic and we have alway had good chats with him. He has always tried his best to make us happy and has gone the extra mile to ensure we have had a fantastic stay! Jorma is also an amazing chef and cooks beautiful traditional Finnish dishes! Jorma even delivered breakfast to us in our igloo on the first morning staying in there! Thank you for hosting us on our Finnish adventure we have had a fantastic time! Dan (@NottsNomad) & Beth (@B_IsForBeth)…
We were not sure what to expect due to little or no review on the igloo online but we were pleasantly surprised. Pros: -Clean and compact igloo on the frozen lake, it's the perfect mini retreat -Basic amenities provided with water and welcome marshmallows, that was cute -We spent Christmas eve there there was a mini Christmas buffet, it was nice home cooked food -They cut a hole in the lake for you to jump in if you want to try, that was fun Cons -Space is a little restricted but expected -Due to cloudy weather there was no aurora -A little far from the airport, 1 hour from Rovaniemi, 145 euro for taxi or 17 euro 1 hour bus ride and 15mins walk We recommend this place for a get away from town
This new accommodation option has most definitely brought plenty of great ideas to the accommodation business in Lapland. The traditional Guesthouse has now received two modern accommodation options alongside with it. So it's a great mix of older Lappish traditions with something new that you don't run into very easily. The price level is spot on in here and amount of options is great. Restaurant that is open daily, also brings nice feature to the accommodation options and the staff is really friendly.
This place is truly unique, for sure in Finland, probably in the world. Feels like an igloo with all the comfort, and with glass to observe the sky. If you’re ever around, don’t even hesitate and take at least one night !!
