Picturesque, clean, lovely breakfast. The sauna is operated by wood and produces pleasant heat. Enough snow to roll in. The surroundings are beautiful in the winter. Lots of snow. Be aware of thin walls and bring earplugs.

We spend the night over at one of the igloos during late summer. Sleeping on an igloo on a lake during a beautiful summer night is definitely a bucket list experience ticked off. Would definitely want to visit during the winter time for a whole another unique experience. The igloo itself is quite compact but had everything we need for our short stay. We especially enjoyed the build in speakers within the igloo that allowed us to add another sensory experience to our stay. Additionally, the opportunity to take the igloo around the lake was an amazing opportunity. We also took a try on one of the many yard games they had available for guests to use. The only minus we had was the small door to enter the igloo as both of us ended up hitting our head to the top of the door frame (though we were actually warned about this as we were shown our igloo) In terms of location, the place is right by Central Ranua and within easy access to all necessary amenities. Lastly, the staff on site is amazing and helped us on all our queries, especially with taking the igloo around the lake. The person that helped us made us feel most welcome either of us had in a long time when staying in hotels and other residences.

We made the decision to travel to the North via Ranua the day before, so were happy to find any accommodation in such a short notice. This place is a very friendly, family-run and ”good old times” establishment. I think the rooms facing the lake in the newer building are more of a hotel standard; the location and the view certainly are beautiful. We got the last room which was in the old building. It was ok, beds were comfy, and the shared wc and showers ok as well. There were several families with small children. The sound insulation is not very good; they should ask visitors to respect that and eg ask that the kids were not allowed to make noise late at night. Breakfast was very adequate; dinner more of a snack / ready-made meals type but ok. All in all, we both liked the place as a nice example of ”good old times”

Thank you for the positive and comprehensive feedback, it always helps us a lot. The sound insulation indeed is a bit of a problem, especially in the older main building that was built in the 1940s. We will be looking for ways to make night time more quiet so that everybody can enjoy a good night sleep. Thank you once again for your visit and you're warmly welcome again. :)

Lovely place to stay in Lapland: we spend one night in one of the Igloos, it is amazing to sleep under the stars (and under the aurora if you are lucky) surrounded by an ice lake (in wintertime). The host family is extremely kind; they offered plenty of activities to do at a very reasonable price. We enjoyed Ice fishing, Finnish sauna, snow mobile, and the best: ICE BATH (they made a hole in the middle of the lake so we could have the real Finnish experience!! They have they own restaurant at a very good price with very good food, the best: SALMON SOUP, it’s a must :) You must visit Arctic Guesthouse & Igloos if you want to experience real Finnish activities and be treated by the best hosts! Will repeat!
