The hotel is situated literally at the train station, which is the centre of Finse. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, giving advice as to where to go (cycle/walk) depending on time available and level of expertise. The room was basic (no TV or fridge), but clean and most visitors won't be spending much time in their rooms. Breakfast... More

Finse is a very different place, and Finse 1222 a different kind of hotel. Lots of history, fantastic food, great scenery. The staff is often young people from “all over the world”, that have come back to Finse because they love the place. It shows in their attitude. Thumbs up!

To be sure to have good winter conditions for the Easter break the safest bet is to look for the hotel located on the highest altitude in Norway. That hotel is Finse1222. Located on the railroad between Oslo and Bergen (or visa verca...) it is only accessible by train or by ski in the winter (by train, bicycle or by... More

What a place! Unbelievably wonderful hotel...we LOVED it! Excellent, friendly staff, super cool location, incredible food, totally relaxing, absolutely stunning scenery...amazing. Rooms are very basic but you should't go there expecting luxury. You are buying into the hotels history and sense of adventure. We wish we could have stayed longer, will definitely be back. Thank you Finse!!! 👍🏼

I visited this hotel during winter, when the surrounding nature is at its most astonishing. Breathtakingly beautiful snowy mountains and perfect ski-conditions. The rooms are nice, and the food is excellent. The staff is polite and service-minded

On our rallarvegen bike trip we stayed in this hotel. Great peaceful location with excellent views. The rooms are very basic, but that's what it on their webpage. No tv, but the positive side is that many hang out in the nice common area's of the hotel. The food was superb. Could have eaten much more of the nice creamy... More

Spent one night for work. Only way to reach Finse is by train (or walk, bike). Charming place, lovely view. Incredible three course dinner included in the room. A bit noicy in the dinnerroom. Room simple, but good enough for sleep. Good wifi even in the lower room. Great breakfast.

My friend and I stayed at Finse 1222 for one night during our bike ride on the Rallarvegen and it was perfect. We had originally booked the smallest room type, but Gordo upgraded us when we got there to a slightly larger room. Thanks, Gordo! The rooms are basic and even the larger rooms are quite small, but they're clean... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Finse 1222 was built in 1909 as part of the Bergen Railway and has since been the gateway to some of Norway's most beautiful and accessible mountain areas. The Hallingskarvet National Park borders to Finse and across the lake Finsevann the mighty Hardangerjokulen glacier rises. Finse 1222 is a family owned hotel run by young and serviceminded people. Allthough the premises are old and some places worn by more than 100 years of service, focus is on providing a hospitable and keen service as well as very good food. The hotel offers bike rental and ski rental. Rooms are basic - we recommend the outdoors! ... more   less
