This farm was lovely. Growing tomatoes, the tomato soup so good and the cucumber salad great. The olive bread was amazing. A very relaxing stop. Just walking around outside even though it was raining lightly, didn't bother us.
A wonderful farm hotel conveniently located close to Thingvellir national park and other major attractions such as geysir. The rooms are comfortable and quaint, while the farm is peaceful and charming. The breakfast was delicious, featuring farm to table products such as the farm's own milk, butter and skye. The restaurant also serves burgers for lunch and dinner. There's also an ice cream cafe on the ground floor with very delicious ice cream. The service was brilliant, and the staff went above and beyond to accede to our requests.
We visited the restaurant and the ice cream shop. While we loved the idea of being on a farm, the restaurant is like eating in a high-priced burger joint. Limited menu and the beef salad was mediocre. Two of us liked their burgers however. We were done with the meal In a half hour. And while it was charming to watch the cows through a window while having ice cream, the ice cream was nothing special.
We went to Efstidalur from Keflavik. It is family run with cozy room with private bathrooms at a moderate price. It is a working farm. We watched the cows which produced the milk, ice cream and Skyr which we ate. The food is genuinely farm to table and quite good. The location is handy to Geysir and the Fontana baths. The culture is much different than in Reykjavik. I highly recommend it.
On the Golden Circle tour, my guide stopped by the facility for an ice cream. While we waited for the line to get smaller, we looked through the windows to see the cows munching on hay in the connected adjacent barn. The ice cream had no icicle texture; just smooth and creamy
If you’re staying in the rooms, I would recommend against the cheapest rooms. The one we were in was in an old building, whose toilet absolutely reeked. There was also an incredibly frustrating clanging sound coming from the radiator all night. I’m a very heavy sleeper, but it managed to wake me several times throughout the night, as it sounded like someone hammering (I have a video of this but looks like I can’t upload a video). The area around this farm was beautiful. We chose it because it was one of the few locations in the area. Staff was very friendly, and the ice cream was phenomenal.
I stayed one night with my children. This place has excellent atmosphere and lovely staff. The ice cream is a must have. We had dinner which was very satisfying. While you eat you can see lovely cows. The children enjoyed the facilities as the outdoors is great for all ages. The only downside was that the instant coffee in my room was decaf. I had to buy myself a decent cup at their shop. The explanation was that their supplier did only have instant decaf 🧐
The family running the place was always friendly, waited up for a late arrival and made sure the stay was a pleasant and whole experience. The site celebrates their ongoing heritage of the farm and there is a lot of information all over the restaurant and farm about their history. The little lodges are cozy with all the necessary amenities. Vegans and vegetarians are excellently cared for with the savoury dishes - but there is no dairy free ice cream. The ice cream which they make on site is amazing, well worth a try even for those who wouldn’t normally have one.
Stayed in a log cabin in deep snow-all paths cleared and gritted to go over to the restaurant! So cosy with underfloor heating and a shower room with ‘vintage’ plumbing. Such a lovely and unique place; sitting in the cafe looking through the window to the barn where the cows are munching away contentedly while smiling at you too. The homemade food products were delicious and the ice cream and yoghurt divine!
This is a great overnight near Geysir. Of our stops in Iceland this was my favourite. Rooms are neat, tidy and clean. The food is excellent, definitely recommend having breakfast and being adventurous with the food, lots of things to try. Take care with the hot water in the bathroom, it is HOT.
