Together with AndreaK from Hull we had maybe the best 3 days away from home. After loosing all of our luggage (fortunately) with nothing except 2 t-shirts and ... we enjoyed the time being reduced to the basics. No phone, no TV, no internet, only purely nature, nothing to loose, nothing to care about. Thank you for this opportunity. We surely come back sometime.

We had a great 3 night stay at the Tauari Inn. It was beautiful and relaxing floating on the water, with some amazing sunsets. Aldi was wonderful and is an amazing cook! I ate so much! The rooms are pretty basic, but the a/c in our room worked great. The showers only have cold water, but after the heat of the day, it was actually pretty refreshing. We were offered all the usual activities - hiking, fishing, swimming in the Amazon, etc - and overall had a great time. There was more down time than we were expecting, so be sure to bring a book or something to do in the early afternoon between your early activity and lunch time, and again after dinner. Due to the passing of Gaston, they hired a different guide to take us around, who was just okay. He worked for a different company in another part of the river, so he was unfamiliar with the area, though he tried his best. We did have a local man driving our boat who was able to direct us to places to see some animals (a few monkeys, sloths, owl, etc), though he did not speak English. Hopefully they have found a better, more permanent solution. The reason for not giving 5 stars was that we were told that transportation was included since we booked 3 nights, but our return bus and boat tickets were not paid for, and we did not have enough money left on us to pay for them. Luckily our guide was still with us and he covered the cost until we could pay him back in town, but I'm not sure what we would have done if we were on our own.

4 of us stayed at the lodge for 3 nights at the beginning of February. We were met at the airport by our English speaking guide Shane Zammette, it was a long but interesting trip to reach the lodge, boat, bus, then another smaller boat, don't recommend having lots of heavy luggage, but have plenty of max strength mosquito repellent. We arrived at the lodge and was warmly greeted by Aldi Maquine, who offered us coffee and cake. The lodge was homely and comfortable with air conditioning in the bedrooms. During the 3 day stay Shane along with Armondo took us on many trips including a full jungle tour, piranha fishing, many boat trips, cayman catching, visit the river shop, visit to river factory. The trips and knowledge Shane and Armondo provided was fantastic. Aldi prepares us 3 great meals a day and did brilliant catering vegetarian food for me, she was always on hand to create us the caipirinha cocktail too. Overall the stay was a fantastic Amazon experience, one we'll never forget.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August. We had originally booked to stay at the Tupana Lodge but this was cancelled by the hosts last minute and luckily Tauari Inn offered us last minute alternative accommodation. This lodge is basically staying in someone else's house, although you have your own bathroom within your bedroom and eat dinner seperately. The food is home cooked and was delicious. We fished outside the lodge one night and even had our catch for dinner the next day. The hosts are welcoming and Gastao took us on lovely little excursions such as a jungle trek, nighttime boat ride to see the stars and a visit to the local village. He was very generous and bought us a drink whenever we were on an excursion although it would be nice if drinks were included with the price of your stay in the lodge. The views from the lodge are stunning, pure river and jungle for miles, and the most beautiful sunset can be watched from the hammocks on the deck. Two nights is the perfect amount of time to spend here. My only reason for not giving it top marks is because transfers are not included in the price (they are with many other lodges) and this was quite an unnerving experience as no one spoke English on our journey and it was a bit of a gamble as to whether we were boarding the correct boats or not! But we made it :) and would defiantly recommend staying here whilst in the Amazon. A peaceful once in a lifetime experience.

Of all the places I've stayed in my one month trip round Brasil, this was by far the most enjoyable. This was the real (acessible) amazonian experience. Gastão and Aldi, the hosts, provide the most enjoyable and relaxing stay possible. We stayed 4 nights, and did all kinds of experiences (fishing, swimming in the lake, night "canoe safari", jungle trekking, boat sightseeing, etc). This is not a stay for those who want creature conforts. You will feel the intensity of being in the middle of the jungle. But that's what it is all about in the end. The food Aldi makes was also top notch. 5 stars.
