travelling north last week we had stopped in laurencekirk looking for something to eat but the town was closed (well it looked that way) so onwards we went until we found the next option - Stonehaven. parked up in the town square and a slick would have it the first place we saw was No.44. Menu looked fine so we... More

We had a lovely stay here with our small child. Several things that stood out... -All the staff were very helpful and friendly -The full Scottish breakfast was excellent with plenty of other things to choose from if you fancy something lighter. -Our room was kept spotlessly clean -Great central location in the town and 1 minute away from the... Stayed for the weekend, had to ask for hairdryer as there wasn't one in the room, only a small hand held mirror in bedroom. Went down for breakfast both mornings at 8.45, young guy on his own who didn't seem to notice that there was no clean tables, no fruit salad, no orange juice, and no brown bread. We had... More

Stayed here one night last week as a business trip was extended and I had been invited for a meal in Stonehaven by a colleague. The Royal Hotel/Bar 44 recommended as it was in the centre of town, no car park but large public car park in the Market Square, £5 if studying over 3 hours but machine didn't give... More

Stayed here before a couple of years ago, so was looking foward to staying again. Good bits: new reception area installed. Service is excellent, really friendly. Rooms are quiet - good night's sleep (Room 21). Now got full size mirror in room. Warm (radiator AND room heater!). Not so good bits: Rooms a bit frayed now - light bulbs missing,... More

Full marks for the staff at this busy hotel, trying to get it modernised as a boutique hotel (well, that's what I think). The rooms are small (we had no.12) but comfy and the bathroom was fine. Everything was clean but our furniture was a bit scruffy - but no big deal. We had a splendid view of the bay... More

My friend and I stopped in on our way through the town to get some lunch. I had the Beer-battered chicken and it was delicious! Cooked to perfection. Would've had more than one serving if I wasn't so full. Would definielty recommend it to anyone passing

After beach tidy up day, several of us went here for a meal. Positive and polite staff, good meal. See pictures. I think the place was renamed - can you tell; and toilets clean, room to move about. There were specials on but we opted for seafood linguine, fish and chips , and steaks with our ales.

We stayed here after driving down from Aviemore. A little confusion finding it as the name has changed to "Number 44" recently, but once in the rooms were lovely and clean / fresh, the staff were welcoming and we had a fantastic evening meal in Bar44 which is the hotel restaurant. Sea fire from our first floor bedroom, and a... More
