We had a family lunch here three weeks ago. It was busy but service was good. All our starters were very good. Three of us ordered various fish dishes as mains and they were all excellent. I had the rump steak which would have been better as a smaller piece, more thickly cut. As it was, it was medium to...

Dear Strian Thank you very much for taking the time to review - we do value all of your feedback, the positive and the not so positive. We're sorry to hear that your steak was not cooked to your requirements; we understand that you did not want to delay the meal, but we would have been only too happy to...

Touring on motorbikes, we booked two rooms at The Ship. Oddly, there are two accommodation wings, with separate doors at either end, and we were allocated to different wings. Room was good. Location is lovely - right in the picturesque harbour. Parking is on the road outside, which was OK as it's quiet. Ate in the bar, mussels and frites...

Dear Andy S Thank you for such a positive review - and we're glad to learn that we were just what was required after a long day in the saddle. The layout of the hotel is a little bit different to others, but we like to think that it all adds to the charm. The building dates back to 1771...

Our Luxury Room with the big window overlooking the harbour was great. Public parking was just outside the hotel. Our host made us feel very welcome. The bar was friendly and filled with both locals and visitors. We liked that we could take our beers out to the harbour wall and see the sun set and twilight settle in. The...

Dear Mark S It sounds like you had an absolute ball during your stay - sunshine, good food and beautiful sunsets! We may be biased but we don't think there is a prettier view than the one overlooking Stonehaven harbour on a sunny day. Thank you so much for your very kind words, and we are delighted to know that...

Loved staying here. Great view. Nice room. Really good. Right on the harbour so stunning. I would definitely go back. We only live in Aberdeen but it was so relaxing it felt like we were a million miles away.

Dear Neil P You are right, it is a completely different world from the hustle of the city! But that's the great thing about our location - you can come here and switch off and enjoy the peace and quiet, or you can hop on the train or in the car and within 15 minutes you can enjoy the busy...

Our meal was fine - until it came to the dessert stage. My two companions asked for the cheese board. The waitress returned. "Sorry, we don't have a cheese board, but you can have the ham and cheese platter which is one of the starter courses." Companions: "We don't want the ham. Just the cheese, please. With some oatcakes. We...

Dear BaselinerGlasgow We're sorry to hear about your recent visit, and that our standards fell below the kind of service that we would expect for our guests. We believe that nothing should be too much trouble, and it certainly seems as though this relatively simple request should have been no trouble at all. We hope that you will visit again...

Had a meal in this resturant tonight with my husband and Grandaughter. We all enjoyed our starters and main course and then finished it off with a drink in the bar very reasonably priced .Would definitely go there again.

The Ship Inn sits in a beautiful setting next to the old harbour in Stonehaven on the east coast of Scotland. There is a bar and a restaurant downstairs with bedrooms upstairs. Five of the bedrooms overlook the harbour. The place is clean and well staffed who are attentive. The bar is frequented by non residents - probably because of...

Dear gordon1947 Thank you for your feedback on the hotel, and we are sorry to learn that the rooms were not to your satisfaction. We are a small, independent hotel, and we believe that the fact that we're not 'corporate' is part of the charm of The Ship Inn. We believe we offer a very reasonable standard of bedroom at...

Visited on a day trip for anlight lunch. Cullin skink is excellent as are the mussels with large portions for starters. Nice view of the harbour from the restaurant. Bar area cramps but per friendly. Staff helpful with a small wait to be served. Recommend parking in the free parking area to the left of the harbour.
