The Wyndham Alltra Samana is celebrated for its renovated rooms that combine modern comforts with cleanliness, a highlight for many guests. The hotel's friendly and professional service contributes significantly to memorable experiences. Although the tranquil atmosphere and nature-centric environment are appreciated, some guests find the evening entertainment to be underwhelming.
The beautiful beach and pool facilities receive accolades, yet a few travelers mention a desire for more dining options and activities. While the value is generally satisfactory, some guests were let down by the additional costs for premium drinks.

If you want somewhere with a banging party scene, ear splitting club music by the pool, a battle for sunbeds, sugary cocktails, a pushy animation team and a buffet like a giant canteen, this is NOT the place for you! If you want relaxation, cleanliness, casual elegance, a warm welcome, plenty of sunbeds, cocktails made with fresh fruit and good booze, a stunning beach (where you are not harassed endlessly by hawkers) and extras like free a la carte dining, free in room safe and free beach/pool towels, then you’re looking in the right place. I was endlessly pleasantly surprised by the Wyndham Alltra. The pools are lovely and given how gorgeous the beach is, we split our time between pool and beach and always got good sunbeds or a seat in the bar, no matter what arrival time. It all felt luxurious and friendly. Evening entertainment was focused on live music or a silent disco. We played a lot of cards as a family. The food was lovely, the staff friendly and the whole place easily walkable and flat, with no steep hills or long staircases. We went over Christmas. Christmas Eve is the ‘gala dinner’. For families with children they had Santa based activities (they wrote him letters and he arrived on the beach). New Year’s Eve was a brilliant night - live music, dance party on the beach, dj, fireworks. A real experience. Things worth knowing - the sea is shallow and clean, you don’t need wet shoes (no urchins or any nasties). The room was fairly basic with, I would say, limited storage for four people (the kids had to live out of their suitcases) and a shower with poor pressure (a dribble really). However a lovely sea view from the balcony and comfy beds and that’s all we needed from it. Although they advertise five restaurants, when we were there they only opened one (plus buffet) each night and the Japanese was never open. However you could go as often as you liked for free, the food and service was fantastic and there was no need to book in advance. This might change in the busy season. The whole hotel is non-smoking, which we loved. The language is Spanish. Most people we met spoke a smattering of English, enough for us all to get by, along with my son’s GCSE Spanish, but don’t expect everyone to speak English. Holidaymakers tended to be French, German, Canadian. Very few English or American. Fine by us. Excursions - we did the buggy excursion - it was really good. Food - food at the hotel was good, always some local options, salads, fresh pasta bar etc. However, for me, as a vegetarian it was the one downside as options were limited. More limited once I saw the pasta guy cook ham in a pan, then put the dirty spoon on top of the fresh pasta, contaminating it, which meant I didn’t feel able to eat the fresh pasta afterwards. One day in particular all of the salads also had meat in. If you’re a serious veggie or vegan you might struggle. In the plus side, plenty of nutrition in the cocktails. Weather - a few days of storms / heavy rain, and a few cloudy days, but rain was for limited duration and generally warm. We’re English so a little water from the sky doesn’t bother us. We were only driven under cover (to the lovely cocktail bar) once or twice. The journey there from Heathrow, via Miami was not good. Six hour delay in Miami, after twenty five hours of travelling meant a total 31 hours door to door. Miami airport was the ninth circle of hell, unfriendly, long queues and they shut all the food outlets at 11pm I think it was, which meant the food vouchers we had to queue an hour to receive were so much recycling! The kids were starving and I was in tears. If you have a choice, find a route that avoids Miami!! Overall, a brilliant, relaxing Christmas. Meant to be a once in a lifetime trip after a hard year, my husband is already asking about next year!! You won’t regret a holiday here.

We visited the Wyndham Alltra Samana between Dec 05 to Dec19 the resort was still being renovated so not everything was fully opened anyways it took about 1 hour and half to get here from the Samana airport we got there late 10pm,reception was great they greeted us with a cocktail cold towel and a sandwich seeing the restos were closed, check in was quick we were staying in room 1216 which was very nice completely renovated king size bed huge shower 1 sink only air conditioner worked well. had a few water pressure issues that were resolved. if you plan to stay in this section you will be up till about eleven this section could get little noisy seeing its in front of the bar with the only entertainment at night so it will go boom boom till 11pm. room was cleaned everyday fridge fully stocked however if you wanted to order room service it was not available at this time. as for the bars service was great all the bartenders were warm and eager to serve you there was one bar still under renovation [the Sugercane] the only negative is the extra charge for top shelf drinks we paid enough money after all it is all inclusive i got them free last year at Wyndham Viva V resort. The A la carte restaurants were okay service was fantastic but they really need to expand there menu not enough choice for example the Italian should serve some bread with cold cuts or bruschetta also all the Restos are open air no A.C. Dec is fine but what happens July Aug. The Japanese resto was still being renovated. All to say the buffet was the best although when the resort is working at full capacity i found it to be a little small again not enough stations. The beach was as advertised little waves unless there was a storm coming in, there was some seaweed on certain days which was cleaned. few vendors on the beach but did not hassle you. plenty of lounge chairs keep in mind it was low season and the resort was at half capacity except on the weekends when the locals came in, this is when it got a little loud especially at the pool area so we hung out at the beach. I have to say all the staff at the receptions front desk and buffet,to the beach bar and grill a la carte to the bartenders to many to mention thankyou for your hospitality and great service above and beyond in my opinion. We will be coming back. PS. the seaside coffee station opens to late and please give us some real orange juice in the morning with our coffee.

We stayed in this hotel for 16 days in December 2017 We took a premium room for €80 more per person via Promovacances because it is much more expensive on site in the Premium there is the safe the wifi a much more comfortable room... private evening with barbecue on the beach on Tuesday reserved swimming pool and a few private deckchairs on the beach... which for us was not useful not much because we took the normal deckchairs to get as close as possible to the waves ;) Concerning the wifi the first week we were out of season so it was working more or less well towards the middle of the second week as Christmas approached a lot of people arrived and then it was a disaster! Fortunately I didn't pay and it was included in the Premium! For me, this is the biggest downside of this hotel! because when there are showers even if it only lasts 10 to 15 minutes the wifi doesn't work either so we are locked in the room without great wifi! And when I see the price (around thirty euros) weekly wifi access is really very expensive! Brief ! I must say that the 3 hours of bus from Santo Domingo to the hotel is really trying just after 12 hours of flight but hey we had an air-conditioned bus we were able to recline the seats to try to sleep... things almost impossible because the roads there are.... you will see for yourself :) The hotel itself is frankly brilliant, very welcoming, speaks very little French but is easy to make understood! I, who don't speak at all and don't really understand, did very well! The places are clean and cleaned regularly despite the “mess” that some leave behind! It saddens me at times.... the bars are great, little soft music, subdued light.... the drinks... very sweet on the other hand

Visited from May 12 to 16, 2024. How to get there: You can get there by taxi, which costs between 150 and 200 USD. from Las Americas airport in Santo Domingo or another airport in the north of the island In our case, we preferred to rent a vehicle at the Las Américas airport in the capital Santo Domingo, which was very convenient because it allowed us to get to know the entire Las Galeras area and the famous Rincon Beach. The road is in very good condition and with any vehicle you can get there without problem in about a time. from 3:30 hr. from Sto. Sunday or in less time from the Santiago airports or Presidente Juan Bosch airport.
The complex was recently remodeled so all the facilities and equipment were impeccable, both in the rooms and in the food and recreation areas. Since the hotel had just opened and it was also low season, there were very few guests so the attention was very personalized. Points to highlight: The buffet area was located within a closed area and with AAC which helps to preserve the freshness of the food and also keep it free of insects. The quality of the food was very good, varied and very well presented. The service in the restaurants was very good and we must highlight the attention from the supervisor Mr. Cristian who went out of his way to ensure that everything was well presented and the customers were 100% satisfied. The beach is very beautiful, clean and quiet, ideal for children, but it is necessary to install parasols because the coconut bushes do not provide enough shade to protect themselves from the harsh sun. Pool maintenance could be improved. We must also comment that the quality of the drinks is very low. There are guests who do not give importance to that aspect, but for others it could make the difference between returning or preferring another destination in the future. Offering the option to pay extra for premium drinks could be a very convenient alternative to attract more demanding guests.

Compared to 10 years ago, the hotel has declined a lot. We were there in 2015 when it was still called Grand Paradise Samana. Because we liked it very much at the time, we decided to visit this hotel again. However, we were disappointed. The show stage next to the restaurant is closed and there was felt to be only karaoke or bingo as animation. On 4 of the 14 days there are no beach towels even after multiple requests per day. The staff are not interested in the well-being of the guests. Very bad because the beach is really nice. Also in the all-inclusive offer, there were only Pepsi Zero, Seven Up, water and light beer in the minibar (2 bottles or cans each). At the bar the same, only an additional 4 juices and the alcoholic cocktails. In the evening in the evening buffet, the Seven Up soft drink tasted terrible in the glass of dishwashing liquid and on several days. Buffet was also very small. If there was nothing in the buffet, there was a spaghetti bar every day. Beach chairs were adequate there, an ATM and a souvenir shop they were also there. The only thing that has improved in comparison are the newly renovated rooms or the new coffee bar on the beach. Otherwise, however, I was quite disappointed. The transfer time from Puerta Plata (airport) to the hotel is 4-5 hours depending on the time of day and traffic. Make once we definitely don't travel to this hotel anymore! We know that much has become more expensive and like to look the other way when it comes to small things and mistakes, but it really goes much better! We were really happy to finally be back home. The only thing we miss there is the beach. REALLY BAD. But the management deserves only 2 out of 5 stars we the hotel. For the money, there is clearly better on the island.

As I understand that reviews serve to help other travelers, I will give my impression without having made any prior arrangements with any employee to highlight their virtues. The complex is beautiful, it is all new and in a natural place where you breathe peace. The rooms are comfortable and modern. The room toilet was done smoothly every day, and the restocking in the fridge worked perfectly. Mosquitoes and cockroaches we didn't see any of the time. As a rarity (but very positive) one does not put a hotel identification tape on the wrist when entering It has a restaurant that doubles as breakfast and buffet for lunch and dinner. The quality of the food is generally good, no more than that. When you learn what they serve, you can make yourself a respectable meal. The buffet at noon is better than at night. At the time I went there were only two medium-quality themed restaurants, which took turns every day to operate with the same menu always. No prior reservation is necessary. Recreation activities are basic, there are no evening shows, only participatory activities. The staff puts in the will to animate these events. The beach is a highlight. It's very nice, it helps that there are no palapas on the beach. If you want shade you can get under the trees/palms. Restrooms were always available, you don't have to be competing with other guests to get the best spot, although there are always guests who bring that vice from other establishments and go down to the beach early to get the "best" spot. Towel service is excellent. On the beach there is a bar, a snack and a cafe. Unlike the restaurants, everything here is excellent. Drinks could be rated an 8, snacks an 8, and coffee a 10. The highlight of the beach, and that does not appear in any photo, is the natural lawn of the area. Not only on the beach of the hotel but in all surroundings. It has no buckles or thorns, so one can enjoy walking barefoot without any inconvenience. The water is calm and with an excellent temperature, ideal for extended baths. I saw people snorkeling, one person said he saw a brunette. My wife from the shore saw a stingray swimming. One thing to highlight and rarity in Dominican Republic is the STAFF of this hotel. My impression is this: they are everywhere but they go unnoticed, but when one needs something there they are always with utmost kindness to help the client (with exceptions, as in all generalities). Point to improve could include crescents for breakfast, it is something simple and would help with the variety. It also happened to me that sometimes (in the pool bar) the juices were reduced, I don’t see the need to do that “trap”. The pool area looked very good, although I'm not using those kinds of amenities in these hotels. Well, I hope these comments will help us make the best decisions.

We spent a great week in this hotel. The cleanliness was impeccable and the wifi worked perfectly, even on the beach, even in the most remote places. With three pools, we never felt cramped. The meals were tasty: in the morning, a buffet of fruit, omelets prepared by the minute, cheese, pastries, pastries and fresh juice; at noon, we had the choice between a snack on the beach and a buffet; and in the evening, in addition to the buffet, an à la carte restaurant. The beach is superb and there are always deckchairs available. Being frequent travelers, we would like to especially mention the staff, who are pleasant, friendly and always attentive to our needs. Thanks to the animation team: Joel, Luisa, Dudu and Bernardo, for a fantastic stay. If you would like to take a horseback ride on the beach, do not hesitate to contact Ezequiel at +1 (829) 960-2921. Even without experience, you can enjoy the ride thanks to its kindness and attention, and this at a very affordable price (20 dollars for an hour).

Now it's wyndham alltra samana We went on Sep 24, and they had been reforming for 6 months. The resort is in a unique setting. It's an all-inclusive. a wonderful beach of warm water, and almost no waves because it surrounds a strip of coral. It has several pool areas, two of them reserved for adults and several restaurant (I think three), just when we went as there was little occupancy only opened for dinner the Buffet and one of the à la carte restaurants (every night one), of course, we had the opening of the Sushi restaurant with teppanyaki table, which was frankly great. The large room with sea views, and with a fridge that they replenished daily, and no shortage of details. The staff, both maintenance, such as restaurant, bars, reception, towel stand, security etc, more than friendly, truly wonderful, would name all of them, but there are many,, just congratulate them for being very welcoming. I have to say that the bars and the catering area and cafe attached to the beach area are frankly fine, the coffee or the best cafe place makes them so good, and the beach catering area, prepared some pizzas by hand and some brutal burgers. Breakfast very good.
To put a but, the catering of the à la carte restaurants was lax, the alcohols very bad, and the restaurants (both à la carte and Buffet) without air conditioning, with the heat and humidity in the area.
The town of Galera is the closest thing, and to say that it is not like Las Terrenas de Samana, that you find everything, there nothing at all, is like going to the "underworld", so if you want a lost site of civilization this is your trip.
Don’t forget to rent a vehicle and get lost on the wonderful beaches of the area, and don’t be afraid (always caution), because the people of the area are welcoming, and although the beaches are deserted, there is always a local selling fresh beer!
And whenever I have gone to the samana beaches (I have gone more times to other areas) I leave the towel and the backpack while I take a bath and even the open car (because I forget to close it) and nobody touches anything.

The facilities of the hotel are very nice, well kept and you can see that it was recently renovated. Very quiet even for couples despite being familiar All hotel members are very polite and courteous trying to always make you feel great, never a bad face and always waving. There would only be more trunks missing as there it gets a little complicated at check out time and the only one that was there seemed overwhelmed. We appreciate not having to book in the à la carte restaurants, but being only two (the third was closed) and repeating menu becomes a little reiterative in slightly longer stays since we are not all pro buffet. Very complete breakfast To extend my reservation I had to do it through the web and they could not do it at reception, perhaps that would be much better to speed up the process of guests since it takes time to impact and may lack communication between the system and the check-out staff (we were left out and had to redo the whole check-in process despite having passed twice before the expiration) Comfortable rooms with good sheets and towels. Frigobar and amenities ok It would only add as an extra umbrella in the rooms since being a tropical climate is essential in case of rain to go to restaurants, etc and not soak The dream beach, maybe it would add another point of delivery of towels in that location if you do not want to go to the pool, plus there was always a queue to remove them. Hotel I recommend and would return.

A family trip for 10 days in an area we didn't know. We arrived very late at the hotel but we were very well received, with a small meal. The hotel is very large and welcoming. The animation is always attentive, especially our little 5 years old, there is a kids space where Carolini and Arisleidy made the delicacies of the youngest, and there are also always activities during the day on the beach and in the pool. The beach is beautiful and calm and the waters warm. The beach bar has several snacks, hamburgers, pizzas but could also have a small bar by the pool to avoid this trip to the beach. There are also towels available all day but only by the pool. The buffet has quality but could be more diverse. Besides the cleaning done every day in the room and the hotel in general is also quite clean. Attention this hotel only allows smoking in specific areas, which for us, non-smokers, was great!

Yes, in the pool area. No, on the beach. At the beach there are a few shady areas, but those get ‘reserved’ pretty early. Because the resort is not booked at capacity, it’s still fairly easy to find shade, but if you burn easily it’s a bit tough.
