I have stayed here a few times on separate occasions and will always choose to stay at Auberge le Safran whenever I go to Taliouine. Mahfoud is an excellent host with superb knowledge of the region. He went above and beyond in helping me with my photography project about saffron farming in Taliouine which I really appreciated. One of the... More

If you are in the South of Morocco, you have to travel to Taliouine (ideally through Tizi n'Test) for the breathtaking mountainous landscapes and to learn about saffron, the local speciality! And if you are in Taliouine, then... you HAVE to stay at Mahfoud's Auberge Le Safran! Mahfoud's knowledge is unique, and he'll give you explanation in English of French.... More

The average rating I'm giving is based on the room and bathroom with no hot water in the morning. Lovely colors in the room, pretty tiles in the shower room but I'm not even sure we had guest towels or soap. This review is about week two into a month's travel, so I'm comparing it with all the places we... More

Exploring the High Atlas by car, the N10 stretch of the route is rather boring & industrialised, so we were extremely lucky & happy to find this auberge. It's a bit like the tardis!!, looks a bit plain from the outside, but inside it's an absolute treasure. The owner, Mafout is a beautiful person, refected in his amazing garden, wonderful... More

Amazing discovery, we found this hotel after being very disappointed with another accommodation booked in Taliouine. The staff is so friendly, very helpful, the hotel itself has large rooms, decorate in a nice, happy, colorful way. The breakfast could use some improvements, but for a tiny city like Taliouine it was a very nice stay.

The auberge is a nice play to stay, the food was yummy, the garden where they grow lots of fruit and veggies very pretty and they had a refreshing pool. Staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. Only the air condition didn't work.

We stayed one night there and must say that it was an excellent place for us. Rooms are not big, but nice and clean. Only the mattress should be changed soon. Food was not top notch, but solid and nice (fresh fruit salad). Staff very friendly and supportive. As overnight stay or maybe two nights it is perfect. The town... More

We had had to improvise after the Tizi n'Tichka pass had been closed because of the previous day downpour, driving 300 extra kilometres in the night (including the hair-rising Tizi n'Test pass). We were in the middle of nowhere, with only some info in our guidebook about where to sleep. We had tried at the last village coming from the... More

I stayed in two different rooms at this small hotel this Fall - the rooms and their bathrooms were disgustingly filthy, the bed sheets had clearly seen many different guests since being washed, and the overall standard was miserable, even by backpacker's standards. Best run away as quickly as you can ! En Francais: sale, draps sales, degoutant a l'extreme.... More

If you are a fan of saffron, try to visit Taliouine in late October/early November. The very nice staff here can direct you to the saffron farms, serve you saffron tea, sell you saffron products and cook you saffon-spiced food. Everything was very pleasant here (some of the best wifi I've encountered outside the big cities) and the staff wasn't... More
