We chose Grand Palladium for our 20th anniversary and vow renewal ceremony. There were 23 of us total! My husband and I have been to Jamaica 3 times. We were married in Montego Bay in 2002 then returned for a friend’s wedding in 2011. Let me start off by easing your worries. Some of the reviews here are terrible and because of them I had truly been worried about my choice but with 23 people involved, could not back out! While the resort does have some flaws, I can honestly say that is is pretty amazing as well! The good definitely outweighs the bad. So here’s our honest experience… I began communication with The Wedding Department in September of 2021. We secured our date for our vow renewal with a $300 non-refundable down payment. At times it felt near impossible to get ahold of someone! I joined a Facebook group with other women planning weddings and renewals at The Palladium and it helped me plan much easier as there were tips, pictures and questions answered here. Upon arrival I can say The Wedding Department (I worked with Felix at check-in, Loraine for our consultation and Sherica the day of our ceremony), was very professional, polite and well managed. They pulled everything off without any issues and my husband and I came to the conclusion that they are simply under staffed and over worked, most likely due to Covid. Our ceremony was beautiful and was held at The Sunset Cove Gazebo, followed by a cocktail party with Steel Drum Band on Sunset Beach and a semi-private dinner at Poseidon. Our guests raved about it. Prior to our trip I connected with a lady named Sadie Dixon (Tours With Sadie). We communicated over several months and she even went to the hotel for us at times to speak to the front desk as we were having a hard time getting through on the phone lines. We booked our arrival, departure and 2 excursions through her. Her drivers (especially Spencer!), were amazing and we felt comfortable and confident driving with him despite the lack of road rules in Jamaica. She greeted us with authentic Jamaican Pattie’s, taught us about the surrounding areas, history of Jamaica, how to understand Patwah and even created trivia games. During our group excursion to Negril/Rick’s/Dreamers Catamaran, she catered to our needs/wants and even stopped so we could buy a few cases of water. She’ll take you wherever you want! Our second excursion was for just my husband and I. We were supposed to go to The RockHouse on our anniversary but they canceled 2 days prior due to a wedding. Sadie pulled some strings and got us the best table over looking the sunset and cliffs at Ivan’s, even decorating it with pictures of our family! Some of our friends used the free hotel transportation for arrival and departure and said it was good but there were several other stops to drop or pick people up along the way. While at The Palladium phone service was spotty. We could use Facebook easily but phone calls and texts were difficult so we decided to communicate as a group via Facebook messenger. This is how we shared which pool or beach we planned to be at or which restaurant we all wanted to eat at. We tried all of the restaurants between our group but discovered a few days in that it was difficult to get this many people a table at once so would either eat at separate tables, or some chose to go somewhere else entirely. Portofino was our first night, I had the mushroom risotto and it was sooo good! The second night was El Dorado and this was where we had to wait over an hour to get our group in. The food was good but I got my sister-in-laws over done steak and she got mine which was ordered medium. The 3rd night was our excursion so we did the buffet and they served an excellent dinner! Both buffets were always good, tons of selections for everyone…my husband thoroughly enjoyed the omelet bar every single morning. The 4th night was our dinner at Ivan’s at Catcha Falling Star in Negril, I had a seafood fettuccine and it was beyond the best meal I had while in Jamaica! The 5th night, part of our group went to The Japanese restaurant while the other half had Mexican. The Japanese restaurant has indoor or outdoor seating, we had to sit outside and it was HOT. I definitely recommend that Palladium installs some ceiling fans outside this restaurant but a few people said this was the best meal they had. I ate sushi and sweet and sour chicken and both were very good! Everyone who ate Mexican said it was very good as well. Monday/the 6th night was our ceremony and semi-private dinner at Poseidon. The employees apologized several times as the kitchen had some sort of malfunction but they were sure to bring lots of bread and the patio bar was a great place to hang out while waiting. The dinner was excellent. My recommendation here is the plantain stuffed chicken and red bean soup! We are all looking for this soup recipe now! Our last night, my husband who is obsessed with Indian food, insisted we eat at Boogali. I’m not a huge fan of Indian but I can highly recommend the bread here, the buttered chicken and the crème brûlée!!! It’s another open air restaurant so was a bit hot for some of our guests though I found it better and more airy than the Japanese restaurant. The Sports bar was ok for food if the other places were closed but was hit or miss as far as quality. The first time I ate there I did not care for it, the second time was around 2am and their nachos and fresh chicken wings were beyond tasty! The best feature here though is the soft serve ice-cream machine! I can’t remember the last time I had a twist cone but it tasted just like McDonald’s! Let’s talk rooms. My husband and I feel we had the best room in our group. It was Romance Villa 3022, so open concept with giant jacuzzi tub, outdoor rain shower and ground level views of Las Brisas beach overlooking the wedding gazebo. We saw several weddings here, their processional walk was the sidewalk right outside our door! One of our friends stayed in Romance Villa 3083. This was on the top floor with the best views of the resort and sunrises, however she did not have the updated rain shower like we did but rather a single stream shower, also outdoor. A good portion of our group stayed in villa 27 on The Lady Hamilton side and all loved their rooms as well as the central location to everything. One couple stayed in the garden suite in Villa 25 and loved the nature that they observed and heard on a constant basis…doves, hummingbirds, butterflies, even a couple of parrots! This Villa was right near our wedding gazebo and actually the location where everyone was dropped off for our vow renewal ceremony. My parents were the only ones to stay on The Jamaica side in Villa 11, room 1115. It was the most outdated room but they were happy with the cleanliness and central location overlooking the pool area. All villas are stairs only so if you can’t do stairs, request ground level. The resort is currently in the process of updating all Villas on The Jamaica side. The biggest downfall to Villa 11 was that it was the loudest. They could hear the nightly entertainment from The Infinity Bar as well as The White Party. My Dad had no issues sleeping but my Mom often times could not fall asleep and needed to utilize ear plugs. Just about every room had a mildew odor that got better the more you ran the air conditioning. I feel this is an unavoidable issue because of the high humidity but it wasn’t so strong that it bothered any of us. Pools and beaches…The Infinity Pool was my favorite swimming spot and is also where the action is at. We enjoyed the swim up bar, foam party, water aerobics and dance lessons here. Water aerobics was so much fun! I did not catch the names of the guys who ran it but they made sure you laughed your way through a pretty intense work out! Our favorite hang out spot was under the straw huts between this pool and the children’s pool. My 2 year old granddaughter was with us and loved the water slides. The Roselle pool was extremely quiet and relaxing. The one time we explored it, everyone was napping while soft music played..this is on The Jamaican side. The adult pool was fun the night of our ceremony. My husband and I jumped in wearing our wedding attire and Gregory, who was our favorite bartender works here. Gregory has such a vibrant personality and knows how to make a great drink! We even requested him for our cocktail hour at Sunset Beach. We did not get to utilize the spa services but those who did said the hydrotherapy pools were so peaceful and relaxing. Las Brisas beach is the main beach. This is where the white party is held. It’s a cove beach so protected by rocks. We only swam here once and I did notice some areas to be kind of dark, most likely seaweed. There is a private beach towards the Jamaica side that we explored with my parents, great secret hang out spot! Sunset beach was my favorite. We went kayaking here but ran out of time to do more. Many of our friends hung out here often, shelling, snorkeling and kayaking. It’s a beautiful location! There are jerk chicken huts at Sunset Beach and near The Infinity Pool, very tasty! Lastly, I’m gonna cover the bad. These issues were minor hiccups to our trip but it’s important to mention. I do know the resort is in the process of updating as stated before so perhaps if anything, this review can offer some feedback. Ice machines were not all working. I had to walk down several villas to find one that worked. Our air conditioner leaked at times from our ceiling onto the bathroom floor. I had to put towels down so as not to slip. Mildew smell in rooms There were a few bugs! This is unavoidable I feel but Bring your bug spray if you’re sensitive. I came away with about 6 very itchy bug bites. I feel the majority were mosquitoes but 1 gave me a bad reaction (hot, swollen) and this may have been a no seeum. I saw 2 cockroaches the entire time. One was on the floor at the sports bar and one outside near the shops. I also saw them spraying/killing this one. Let me add, I’ve seen cockroaches every time I’ve visited Jamaica and this resort had the least amount. Entertainment…very LOUD. Especially at The Las Vegas show and Michael Jackson show (which was amazing by the way). Even the music at The Infinity Bar was too loud at times. Grand Palladium PLEASE TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN! I’m looking at visiting The Palladium near Puerto Vallarta next year and this seems to be a common complaint there as well. The best entertainment were the live musicians. Shout out to the violinist outside of MOBAY buffet, the steel drum band and the saxophonist at Poseidon! I feel if The Palladium could get more live musicians and perhaps some more authentic type of entertainment (native to Jamaican history), more reggae etc…this would set them apart from other resorts! With that said, if your scene is party music and dancing, there is no shortage of that here! We definitely enjoyed the party on Las Brisas the night of The White Party. I’m sure I’m missing some things but I just want to wrap up my review with this. I do not understand, for the life of me, how there are reviews on here stating the employees are rude! Jamaica has some of the most loving and accepting people in the world. My parents have been to Mexico and all over The Caribbean and Jamaica is still their favorite because of the people! We were always greeted by the employees while walking, often times with a fist bump and “respect”. Perhaps these other people acted entitled or never tipped? Often times employees in Jamaica are not paid well, or even on time. Tourism is 75% of their income and they rely heavily on tips. Tip your maids, money goes under the pillow, tip your fridge guy, put money in the fridge along with a note about your preferences, tip the bartenders, tip the cart guys, tip your drivers, waiters, excursion people!!! Bring tip money and plan it into your budget while visiting Jamaica. They need the money more than you do. If you can’t tip, offer gifts! We brought books, clothes, pencils, sharpeners, snickers…things they can’t get as easily due to high tax rates. A little goes a long way but most importantly SHOW RESPECT. If you’re rude to them, they may just be rude back. Overall our experience at Palladium was a great one. So much so, that I am looking to stay at a Palladium when we visit Mexico next year. I liked that this particular resort was closer to Negril since I had never been to that side of the island. We were finally able to visit Rick’s and other places in Negril. I feel that they are coming back from Covid and plan to visit again once all of the renovations are done. Go, have fun, be kind and everything will be Irie Mon!

The resort was very nice and I enjoyed the food and amenities. The problem I had was with the check in process. The front desk staff was very incompetent. Had to come out of character to finally receive my room. All the other staff at this resort was very nice and friendly.

My Hubby and I celebrated our 10th Anniversary at Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton September 15th-22nd. Our overall stay was wonderful although we did have a couple hiccups. We stayed in a Romance Villa and it was beautiful, clean and the views were breathtaking. We absolutely loved the extra large jacuzzi tub, the outdoor shower and we were steps away from the beach. We arrived on Thursday afternoon; check-in took over an hour and considering it was only us and another couple; this was way too long of a wait. I feel they needed more staff at front desk; specific lines for check-in guests and lines for guest with complaints/issues. Our room was not cleaned all day Friday and I had to scramble to find towels; luckily I found an amazing woman named OPAL working at another building that came over, cleaned my room and provided clean towels. She was so friendly and polite; we requested her to clean our room for the remainder of our stay. The property itself does need some updates but we constantly seen workers cleaning and painting so we know they are working on the upkeep. The food was really good; I'm a picky eater and I had no problems finding something I loved. Our favorite restaurant was El Dorado (Steak House) and the Italian. Since it was our anniversary we did the floating breakfast at the spa; this was one of the main highlights of our stay; it was so beautiful and our Butler ALERIC went above and beyond for us! We also did the Romantic Dinner under the Stars; this was worth every penny and the food was so delicious especially the lobster. At night you can find us at the Infinity Bar after party; this was the placed to be if you like to party until late (1am-2am) and after that we headed to the Sports Bar where our favorite server was JOSEPH; he was kind and attentive and chatted with us. We will definitely be back with to this beautiful resort! best part was that because this property is so big; we never had issues with finding chairs or felt it was crowded at any time.

Accidentally left clothings in the closet upon check out, called to report it and was told nothing was taken in for lost and found.. The agent was trying to convince me that there is nothing that can be done about my lost items and it was after I threatened to make reviews on trip advisor, she gave me an email to file a report which i am yet to get a respond from. Mind you, we checked out the 26th of September. The only best thing about my stay was my birth night dining experience. Dinning at the restaurants you aren't allowed to leave with food in a plate as it being an all inclusive and you are charged $20 for room service.
