The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort and Spa offers an array of amenities like multiple pools and beaches, which guests enjoy, though some suggest enhancements in maintenance and service. The resort's cleanliness generally receives praise, yet issues with housekeeping persist. Opinions on the atmosphere are split, with lively entertainment tempered by noise complaints and dated decor. Service quality is hit-or-miss, with commendable staff at times overshadowed by service delays. Travelers question the value, confronting overcharges and aggressive sales. Room conditions disappoint many, and noise levels frequently disrupt the peace.

Like the reviews, our experience was mixed, with a lot of good things, but some things that could be better. We think this is not a 5-star hotel. We would give it 4-stars. It is an absolutely stunning resort though with blocks of rooms as villas set in beautiful grounds, so neat, clean, tidy and well maintained. The pool area is huge and the beaches are gorgeous too. The covered walkways are excellent. To shelter from the sun but equally the rain. There are some beautiful photo locations with spectacular views, especially Sunset Cove and the Look Out Point.

Starting with when we arrived, it took 1 hour 40 minutes to get into our room. The check-in process is quite slow, but that’s okay. However, we were in a party of five with two rooms. So we went in a shuttle with our luggage to our rooms, and the first room already had people in it. For the second room, none of the keys worked so the lady at reception must have programmed the keys incorrectly. So we went back to reception, and it was a very slow process to explain the problem and try and rectify it, but we got there eventually with one of the rooms upgraded to a suite as an apology.

The room keys are actually part of the all inclusive wrist bands, which is actually a very clever idea as you never have to worry about losing or forgetting your key. Also, it is nice that a lot of reception and lobby areas are outside. However there is very limited air conditioning across the hotel. This is ok but a bit surprising. Other than in the rooms there isn’t much relief from the heat and humidity, but you wouldn’t come to the Caribbean in the wet season if you weren’t expecting these conditions.

The rooms were really good. We liked the separate villas. Low rise rather than a big high hotel block. Good air conditioning, nicely designed and decorated. They need a little bit of TLC, but the resort is so big it must be easy for things to go unnoticed. Ice machines in each villa were very useful!

There were a few power cuts during our stay, but most strange (in villa 40 where we were), was that especially at the start of the holiday, but occasionally throughout, at peak water usage times, water would stop running into the rooms. Apparently this was a water pressure issue. How can you be having a shower in a 5 star hotel and the water stop running! What wasn’t fixed was that every morning there was no running cold water! The fridges were filled daily which was great.

Room cleaning was a bit on and off. The usual lady was lovely and did a good job. However on some days we never seemed to get the correct amount of towels! One day we had no big towels, other days only one, other days no smaller towels etc. Very odd!

The beaches at the hotel are gorgeous. Sunset Cove especially. Absolutely idyllic. We were in the sea for hours. Sunset Cove has water sports - we did paddle boarding and kayaking a few times. The process to sign up is very slow and if there is a queue it is even worse. They need a better system where you sign up and have a time slot.

Entertainment programme was good with excellent shows, they put a huge amount of effort into the shows! However one suggestion, they have a rainy day programme. Those activities should run all day every day anyway, not just when it rains! Some mornings there was live instrumental music from someone playing a violin or saxophone which was lovely.

General service from staff was really mixed. Some of them do look quite miserable with negative body language. Some come across as impatient and even rude, but others are really nice, chatty and smiley. Reception staff need to work a bit quicker and be happier as the first impression when we arrived was poor and has to be better. It must be hard working all day in the heat and humidity wearing trousers. I know they live on the island anyway so are more used to it, but it must be such hard work with the limited air conditioning. We tipped a few of the staff we thought were working hard and providing good service, but to be frank some staff simply didn’t deserve a tip.

In terms of the food and restaurants. The buffet restaurants were mixed. The Jamaicans are never in a rush, but one day the Negril restaurant opened 30 minutes late for lunch. Mo’Bay seemed to be better, the only one with ice cream at dinner. However they seemed to struggle to keep the ice cream cold, and they just served runny melted ice cream. They need better freezers, and also fridges. Cold desserts in the buffet were never cold enough and need to be chilled better. They could be in enclosed cabinets instead. This must cause issues with keeping food outside of meal times if they aren’t cold enough. The only other place to serve ice cream was in the Sport’s Bar. This was popular as it had air con and showed lots of sports, yet it didn’t have WiFi. Surely this is one place that should have WiFi. Otherwise WiFi was good, although it didn’t work one day. Ice cream in here was from a machine which was obviously popular and so only worked half the time. They just need a self-serve station, and more of them in the hotel. The ice cream from the machine was really nice though. Not everyone wants a cone, they should provide spoons and bowls. There was some self-serve food in the sports bar, but one time they practically ran out of most hot food at lunch time. Miss Lou’s cafe was really nice with delicious sandwiches and snacks.

The Jerk huts are good. The A La Cartes are excellent too and really nicely decorated. Especially the Indian. We liked how the salad bars and starters were part of the buffet and then you order the main. A random point, the quality of the drinking glasses everywhere was very high.

Breakfast in the main buffet restaurants was ok. Often seemed to be some things missing. For example on two mornings there were no hash browns, and there was only baked beans on a few occasions. We had breakfast outside in Blue Lagoon a number of times. Stunning setting with views across the pool and sea. However, staff must clear used plates with leftover food off tables so much quicker and get them inside! They are far too slow and this is attracting a problem with black birds picking food off plates, and also flies. This can easily be prevented, and it is very off putting.

The main pool is massive! We liked the water falls and jets coming into it. The kids water park is good, just makes us wish they had a water slide for adults too! The tiles are quite rough though in the pool, I was in there for a while one of the days playing with a ball and the bottom of my feet got little cuts on them and a blister. But then you aren’t allowed to wear water shoes in the pool. So after that I was just trying to float everywhere!

There is certainly room for plenty more sun beds around the pool. There is a problem with sun bed reserving as a result of there not being quite enough. Always easy to get sun beds on the beach though.

We used the spa facilities and it was all excellent. We only used it when they had a special offer on though, as the prices are extortionate! $370 for a couples full body massage! We got that half price thank goodness! Surely they can lower the prices to attract more people and make more money, as the staff are there being paid anyway!

There is a taxi desk in the reception, and their prices are also extortionate! $140 to go to Montego bay before the airport, and $160 to go further than the airport.

You have to get used to the Jamaican way of life to enjoy your stay here. You have to slow right down to their speed and be relaxed and chill. There is never any rush. You have to accept that is how it is going to be.

There was loads of sunshine during the stay, but a thunderstorm most afternoons. During a thunderstorm you aren’t allowed in the pool or sea due to safety reasons if lightning strikes the water. It usually cleared by sunset but it occasionally carried on into the dark with brilliant lightning displays. A good summary of the weather is that if the sun isn’t out, it’s probably a thunderstorm!

The resort was absolutely magnificent and the rooms very nice. We were in the villas section for adults only and the rooms were very spacious, with a huge jet tub and outdoor shower- definitely worth the extra $$.
Individually all the servers and attendants were extremely nice and accommodating HOWEVER the customer service policies and the fact that everything was a struggle made it very exhausting and made the vacation feel like work: The bottom line is that the resort was too full with too few staff at the front desk and the concierge.
For example: at check-in, the wait was 45 minutes at least.
Restaurant reservations are very hard to come by and even when we made 5:30 reservations, we would be seated and the restaurant would have plenty empty tables while there were massive queues/lines outside.
It was impossible to secure seating at the beach or pool unless you woke up at 7:00 to put towels and claim seats.
There is entertainment every night and the live bands were very good which was a plus. Overall I would say that if they worked on their customer experience quality this could be a top star resort. I would go back but not over the Christmas period.

The bus ride is about 1 1/2 hours from the airport so just be prepared, make sure you use the restroom before leaving the airport.Upon arrival at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, we were welcomed with a nice cold glass of rum punch (quickly became a favorite). There were three of us ladies in our party and once we checked in (which was very smooth) we were escorted via the resort's golf cart style vehicle with all our bags.On the Lady Hamilton side of the resort there is not an elevator each villa has rooms and ours was on the 2nd floor, for us was no problem. All of our bags were brought up with a friendly smile by the bellhop. Since there was three of us we all wanted to share the same room, we had already discussed taking turns doubling up. To our surprise not only were there two queen size beds but a full size pull out couch already made up. The beds and pillows were comfy and the pull out couch honestly reminded me of my temper pedic at home. Needless to say we all three were very comfortable. There were also three robes and pairs of slippers too, sometimes the little details makes all the difference. When you travel with an odd number you understand what I mean. Lots of times things come in pairs and the third person is often overlooked when it comes to the amenities. The room had a balcony, an in room safe, the mini fridge was stocked with beer, soda and water, there was an ice machine down stairs and the bathroom had a nice rain shower and separate whirlpool tub. The resort itself is rather large however after the first day we figured out the lay of the land. The pool is enormous and houses the swim up bar. There is kayaking, snorkeling, peddle boats, all right at the resort. The food was good, just like with anything you find favorites. The breakfast buffet was outstanding! The only negative with the food was the Italian Restaurant.....would not suggest that for anyone that knows what real Italian food is supposed to be. The resort does have a nice spa that we did experience (what's a girls getaway without spa time?!) we all had a pedicure, then one of us had a manicure and then a massage. The trip to the spa was fun and about what I expected. By doing the spa treatment we were entitled to the use of the facilities at the spa which included the pools and hot tubs. Which we did enjoy and there were very few people around. The resort was great, but the people who work at the resort are what makes it fabulous! I can't say enough about the warm and genuine people that we encountered. I would recommend this resort to anyone that wants to have a great Jamaican experience. Don't be afraid to book an excursion off the resort. We did the Dunn's River Falls trip which was fantastic too. They have vendors set up in the lobby that you can book through,so don't feel you have to decide before you go. This is truly a great all inclusive resort!

This was my second time visiting Jamaica and my first time staying at this resort. We stayed Thursday thru Sunday this week. Overall I had an okay stay but don't think I would return to Grand Pallidium Resort. The property was beautiful and the highlight of my stay was the nightlife with the Silent party on Thursday and White party on Saturday (DJ Niecy was Awesome and knows how to keep the party dancing!!!). Jean was our bartender at the Infinity bar and she was wonderful and made us feel welcomed with a great attitude. We stayed in building 33 and the housekeepers did a great job keeping our room cleaned and well stocked with beverages, wash clothes and towels. Most of the staff I encountered were very rude and not welcoming at all and it felt like they did not want us there which is sad with all we had to go through to enter Jamaica during Covid. The most rude employees were the bar staff especially at the restaurants, beach bars, pool bars, and the silent party staff that we returned the headphones to after the party was rude for no reason. The check in took too long with a lot of paperwork. After going through a 1 to 2 hour process at the airport when you arrive the last thing you want to experience is a long check in with a lot of paperwork at the resort, it was exhausting. The liquor selection was absolutely horrible and there was not many premium liquors offered which I am not used to for an all inclusive resort. The worse experience was with the bartender at the Steakhouse restaurant on Friday evening 9/25/20. Me and my husband wanted Cognac when we were seated and due to being told the restaurant did not have Cognac me and my husband went upstairs to the Infinity Bar to get our drinks and came back down to the Steakhouse restaurant. When we returned my husband kindly asked the bartender to give us ice for our drinks when he got a chance. The bartender looked at us like we were crazy, he had four cups of ice in his hand and proceeded to make jokes repeatedly stating "Oh you want this ice, Oh you're not getting this ice, Oh you want a scoop, Oh this is not yours" me and my husband were very confused by the bartenders behavior and it appeared he had been drinking or doing drugs by his behavior. I got so upset by the bartenders actions that I walked away and went to my table without ice while my husband stayed to deal with the unprofessional bartender. A few minutes after my husband returned to be seated our waiter brought us 2 glasses of Cognac with a lot of ice which we both found weird because we were told there was no Cognac when we were first seated which is the reason why we left the restaurant to go upstairs to get our drink for dinner. I did not trust the bartender and me and my husband did not drink the Cognac with Extra Ice that magically appeared. This experience ruined my stay. Me and my husband work hard and we expect to be treated with respect when we spend our hard earned money anywhere I stay while on vacation. This resort need to do better training their staff on customer service because the attitude of many of the staff is horrible and they don't seem to like their job or the visitors staying at the resort. I would not recommend this resort to my family or friends.

First of all, I want to preface this review by saying I read EVERY SINGLE review before we went here. I had already booked the resort in October 2019 when all the bad reviews from December and January stared popping up. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. It was my boyfriends first tropical/all inclusive vacation and I was intent on making sure he had a perfect time. Therefore I prepared for all the bad reviews I had read, brought our own towels and travel pillows, a fan for the room, a diffuser, etc. The first night we got there we ate at Poseidon which is the seafood restaurant, the food was good but very small portions, I think this is a cultural thing between Jamaica and America because we found all portions to be smaller than normal. Waitress was very poor and all her tables were very unhappy. We were nervous about the rest of vacation. The next night we tried the Jamaican fare restaurant (Xaymaica?) and it was DELICIOUS! Service was superb. Food was good, but smaller portions, like I mentioned. I can honestly say the only downside I saw while here was the room has a musty/moldy smell to it and apparent black mold in the room and bathroom. Now, that being said, our housekeeper was amazing and did a wonderful job. I would have to think it is hard to keep rooms mold free when they are located in a building with a water fountain in the middle of it and the humid weather they have. Air conditioning worked well enough, could have been cooler but was impressed given other reviews I'd seen that said AC was horrible. Pool was wonderful and huge, never felt crowded. Only downside was it closed at 6PM which was sad because a night time swim would have been quite enjoyable. Bars were always easily accessible and bartenders were attentive and polite. Some visible waited for tips while others didn't seem to care. I enjoyed that they had variety of cuisine at all buffets, some jamaican fare, some american fare (burgers and pizza) and contrary to reviews I'd read, we never waited to be seated and nothing was ever "empty" at the buffets. Atmospshere could not be beat, beautiful and peaceful. We went kayaking one day and enjoyed that, despite a spill into the water before leaving. We did not partake in aerobics but they looked very enjoyable. They have a very busy activity schedule so you are assured not to be bored. My boyfriend got a massage at the spa he enjoyed. Would definitely go back and miss it already! Stinky room and all :)

Hotel location is good with lovely beaches / coves. However the Hotel and service is comedy act!

When you consider the Hotel offers a 5 start rating you would expect the same with service , food and certainly accommodation.

The food is a disgrace! Hit and miss with little flavour and variety. Constantly the same food on a daily basis with no variety. Food is at times over cooked like eating the soles of your shoes .... fish , chicken and steaks so dry.

Traditional Jerk Chicken on BBQ by the pool with coals lighted by means of fire lighters soaked in white spirits.... before the coals are evening hot and burning .... meat is placed on the grill soaking up all chemicals from fire lighters.

When served you can taste fire lighters and meat not cooked properly at times raw!

In general my opinion is catering staff not trained properly or evening experienced catering back ground and mostly doped up where it’s a lucky dip if anything being cooked is tasteful or cooked properly.

Doped up want to be cooks simply not acceptable.

Coffee is of poor quality in all restaurants.

Lots of bad attitudes from waitresses and bar staff potentially creating atmospheres with guests. All fake to me! You would expect a quality service at all times considering the money spent on a disappointing holiday.

Steak restaurant including Italian is of poor standard where you are waiting ages for food. Sloppy service. I returned my meal twice as not cooked properly and cold each time.

We have been twice now with the second trip simply identifying all the comedy of errors / attitudes intimidation. In general a complete revamp with staff is required and certainly experienced catering staff urgently required who know how to cook properly.

Electrical issues frequently. Live cables exposed on the grounds

Rooms basic to other resorts. Ricks cafe and Bob Marley’s House 9 miles is about the only excursions we would recommend. All the others wasted time and money.

There are far better places in the World to visit that offer setting , location service food and with out attitudes.

Massive diversion suggested else where in the world.

This hotel is in a beautiful location with gorgeous beaches, landscape, and pools. Our large beachfront, oceanfront suite was also amazing and had a breathtaking view. However, we have several complaints about this hotel. First off, besides the cleaning staff, bartenders, and hotel managers, the rest of the staff acted unhappy with their jobs and gave minimal service. They were not genuinely friendly, and they were not prompt. My father had some trouble walking the great distances required around the resort (to get to the restaurants, pool, beach, front desk, etc.) and the accommodations for him were unsatisfactory. I do NOT reccommend this resort to anyone that is not prepared for walking at least a mile a day with steep hills and several steps to get around, unless you want to wait a significant amount of time for the staff to pick you up and that's IF you can even get a hold of them. If your room is located on the far side of the resort, it's closer to 2 miles a day in walking distance. Even with the transportaion, there is still a significant amount of walking for elderly or unhealthy people. The last 2 days of our vacation, we decided to get my father a wheelchair. The hotel charged us $30 per day CASH and they also held a $250 deposit on our credit card. It also took a lot of calling around and ton of legwork to finally get the wheelchair for him. Same for when we needed our COVID test results printed for our return trip home. We were redirected several times to different locations in the resort, and it took almost 90 minutes of our time to finally get our request resolved/ printed out. The a la carte restaurants for dinner were excellent, and so was the private dinner my husband bought on the beach (the food and service was great). For breakfast and lunch however, there is no choice but to go to one of the buffets, which is not much to look forward to. The restaurant staff HAS to serve you at each buffet station, and you must have your mask on the whole time until you get back to your table. You wait in line at each station for the food you want, which can take 10-20 minutes once you have been served everything you want for your meal. By time you get to your table, your food is usually cold. The food is pretty good, but often bland and cold. The juice, milk, and sodas are not well refridgerated, and most of the restaurant staff are not genuinely friendly. Most of the buffet staff are in no hurry to help the guests.

Hmmm, funny how so many of the good reviews for the Grand Palladium are for the fitness activities? Wish I’d realised that before booking!

I’ll keep this short; you do not get what you pay for at this hotel. Very, very difficult to get a table in any of the restaurants for dinner (stressful experience!) and there are queues everywhere you look. Quite often there is only one member of staff behind reception or at the bar and there aren’t enough sun beds or towels for guests. Seems that the hotel sells a lot of day passes (cruises etc) which doesn’t help.

Jamaican’s are lovely people but the service throughout the hotel is extremely inconsistent. Also, if there’s anything wrong with your room don’t even bother trying to get it sorted - you’ll be wasting your breath!

If you don’t mind eating at the buffet all holiday, you’re not worried about queuing and you don’t mind getting up at 06:30/07:00 to get a decent sunbed you’ll probably have a good time. The beaches are nice but small and man made. We didn’t get involved in the activities (young family) but there’s plenty on and it all looked like good fun. Not a very good family hotel in my opinion, extremely over-priced and be prepared that you’ll need to quickly figure out how to ‘work the system’ (you’ll be competing with some very organised guests e.g towels left on beds over night, tips to get better service etc).

My take on it is that the hotel isn’t satisfied with the vast amount of money they charge for rooms. It seems to be run on a budget and they don’t have the staff or facilities to cope with the volume of guests they lure in. Would never stay there again.

I think everyone is anxious about traveling during Covid. I have been to GP LH before a few times so I feel I am qualified to make this review.
1. As far as Covid- I felt like the resort went above and beyond careful. I observed many precautions, such as an abundance of sanitizing dispensers, sanitizing mats to wipe your feet on, all staff wearing masks (and wearing correctly). They enforced the social distancing by limiting # of guests in restaurants and sports bar at one given time etc. and took temperatures.
2. Restaurants-Food- The breakfast buffets lines were open, but you could not serve yourself. The items to choose from were about 2/3 what is normally offered. The restaurants had only short, or no waiting, and the food was to the standard I have experienced in my other trips. I particularly enjoyed the Japanese Restaurant, the Tempuri Chicken appetizer is my favorite!!
3. During Covid, there is no evening entertainment, and I did miss that. There is limited pool side activities and no mini club activities for the little ones.
4. The staff was as attentive and pleasant as always. Yes there are fewer working now, but that will increase as guest numbers increase. I never had a wait at the bar, the pool wait staff was great, everyone was pleasant and friendly. It looked like there was much work being done to upgrade etc during this down time.
Basically, because of low number of guests, you feel like it is almost a private resort. I spent one morning at the adult pool where there was only 3 people in the pool ! The plus of not having to save a chair, wait in long line for jerk chicken, and the relaxing atmosphere, made up for the few things put on hold due to Covid precautions.

No trip is ever with out any bumps or small issues but anything that came up was dealt with in the quality of service I have come to expect. I will be back.

Staying at the lady hamilton side of the palladium resort, we had an amazing stay. We stayed for 7 Days / 7 Nights.
Starting With Felissa, who accommodated us through our arrival, and requests that we had, Felissa certainly made this stay way better, assisting us with reservations for our child, dietery restrictions and questions, she really made us feel as comfortable as home while we were on vacation.
morning Yoga was really amazing with Jovanne was really a treat, the dedicated attention.
pool or beach, there are a ton of options, (Adult beach, activity beach, or just the regular beach, largest pool i've seen in my life, you can go family, upscale, party, relax,) the hotel has something for everyone.

Chef Elton was extremely accommodating, we had strict dietary restrictions and he went above and beyond to ensure we were fully comfortable with the preparation of the food.

All in all, i highly recommend this location, from the grounds, to activities, to value this has all the perks for all types of travelers.
