We booked into Cottage 1 for a two-night stay and it was absolutely wonderful. The forest and natural surroundings are beautiful, the cottage was kitted out in all the amenities we could have wished for and the staff and people were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were very grateful for the mosquito nets over the beds, which meant we didn't... More

Unfortunately we miscalculated our drive from Marloth park towards Pigs Peak, making us arrive at 17:00. The setting is really nice. In the middle of the forest, far away from everything. We drove 30 minutes into nothing before we got to the reception. This was quite some nice driving in the woods. Because of our late arrival, it was impossible... More

This beautiful lodge is tucked away in a nature reserve in Piggs Peak. To get there you drive through mountains and forests, and at the lodge you are surrounded by the sounds of water flowing and birdsong. The owners have had the place since 1975 and have done an amazing job of creating individual lodges (with complete kitchens, lounge/dining areas),... More

If you want to be one with nature then this is where you have to be. Very cozy cottage. Very friendly people. I don't understand people complaining. If you are in the middle of nature it's normal to meet insects. We have spent two nights here and have seen only one millipede in the room. Some people here are just... More

We stayed in Phophonyane for two nights on a three week trip of South Africa and Swaziland and my only complaint was that we didn't stay longer. We booked the tents but due to rain on arrival were updated to the beehives which were amazing, so cozy. The hiking trails were great too and we had a guided trip to... More

This hotel is absolutely spectacular. The cottages are delightful, but we chose a tent, which was wonderful. It had extremely comfortable beds, heating, fan, beautiful decoration, and a beautiful view, completely surrounded by nature. The restaurant has an extensive menu, with delicious plates and service is very good. The swimming pool and terrace has spectacular views of a valley. We... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this gem. My booking was relatively last minute and I was very happy to be able to book the beehive huts. They are quite lovely and very comfortable. All the staff at the lodge were friendly and very accommodating. I was really surprised that aside from 2 other people, we were the only people... More

We first visited Phophonyane Ecolodge around 16 years ago. We loved it then but love it even more now. The owner has created a truly delightful lodge comprising cottages, beehives and permanent tents over looking the falls. The restaurant not only serves lovely meals but is a place to spend time admiring the exceptional artefacts, carvings and paintings or simply... More

We stayed in one of the beehives which offers beautiful views and were very comfortable to stay in. We had some trouble finding the lodge (GPS couldn't find it and no signing at the road) but the local people were very nice and helped us find the lodge. We were a little disappointed with the dinner and breakfast. The dinner... More
