My husband and I booked a room here with a private onsen for two nights in November. The service was amazing right from the beginning and we had no problems communicating in English. The many different indoor and outdoor onsen were so much fun to try out (rotate by gender depending on time of day) including the ones that you...

We ordered a Japanese wine for dinner that said 'dry' on the menu & was confirmed by the waitress when we asked. Dry Japanese wines are hard to come by so we gave it a go. Unfortunately, it was the sweetest wine we've had any where in the world; when we asked for it to be changed & asked for...

A beautiful onsen in the Ito country-side. Definitely a must visit, approximately 2 hours away from Tokyo. Must spend 3-4 days in this lovely onsen which has private open-air baths for some rooms. There is a private couples / families onsen for booking and there are six other onsens for sharing. Different times are designated for same sex hot spring...

This ryokan was reviewed by some as being rustic. I found it anything but rustic. A large ryokan with a few dozen rooms this ryokan is third generation operated and soon to be fourth generation! They have run this place for over 80 years! And spent a considerable amount of money refreshing and renovating it. It is splendid inside and...

I have been going this place for the third time. The food is excellent and service is top notch. Each room is assigned a special person in charge - delicate and well attended. Recommend to get the room with private outdoor hot spring tub -

We stayed for four nights with my parents-in-laws and they love it. One day I got flu and the staff is so nice and found me medicine, I recovered quickly and really thanks to her. There is shuttle bus to train station around 10:40am but you need to reserve seats in advance. Bus stop is just outside the ryokan actually....

This onsen was wonderful and fairly easy to get to by train and bus from Tokyo. More modern than others than I have stayed in but still a very authentic and relaxing experience. The kaiseki meals (dinner and breakfast) were amazing and beautifully presented. You can also order a lunch meal at reasonable prices. We stayed for 2 nights which...

Went there to celebrate on my dad's birthday. 70yrs old is called Koki here in Japan. The master prepared a purple colored hat for him and the staff took a special photo for us! Dinner and breakfast tasted so nice with seeing the dishes and feeling this autumn season.

Pricey hot spring hotel but it is definitely worth it. It is located in the middle of mountain tracks next to a river stream. Unlike other hot spring around the area which are located near the seaside. Food are excellent, my kids loved it. The private family onsen was the highlight of the hotel. Spacious and nice surrounding. We took...

“All rooms have a view of the river, but if you want a private outdoor bath you have to request one. But if you are into beautiful Rotemburo's that are very clean an beautiful with waterfalls and rock formations, plus indoor furos that have views of gardens, you won't need a bath in your room. All rooms are BIG by. Japan standards and japanese. (Tatami mats and sleeping on the floors, which by the way are way more comfortable then a bed!!!)”
