We had an amazing stay at Veranda Hotel. The service was really amazing. A special mention to KHUN Rung and Khun Yo that made our stay special thanks to their smile, the detailed information and giving the feeling we were special. The hotel is yet a bit far from Chiang Mai but it is a real peaceful place in the middle of the jungle, with an amazing view from the pool, breakfast area and rooms. The rooms were big and lovely. As well decorated as the lobby. We totally recommand this hotel.

They say first impressions are everything, but this is the exception. The location of the hotel is unique and beautiful; however, there is little substance beyond the seemingly beautiful aesthetics. The entrance to the hotel and the lobby are really nice and special. Also, the infinity pool was amazing. The view of the mountains and the temple was inspiring. In terms of service, the staff provided a good and reliable experience but nothing to write home about. Everyone smiled and was willing to help. Maybe we’re biased because our previous hotel was the St. Regis in Bangkok whose service is exceptional. So, expect good and reliable service. The real problems came with our room. Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a Jacuzzi villa which was greatly appreciated! Our first impression of the room was great: big, well-appointed with a huge bathroom and an amazing terrace with Jacuzzi (the terrace and its view were our favorite part). After such a great first impression, reality started settling in. Some of the materials in the room felt a little cheap (e.g. the floors and walls in the room didn’t look/feel like real wood. Maybe they were, but that was our impression. We were ok with that; however, we were not expecting the maintenance problems we experienced: i. We reported lack of hot water the 3 nights we stayed at the hotel. The first night we had 5 minutes of warm water, and the other 2 nights we had no hot water at all. We reported the problem and it was supposedly fixed but we had no hot water during the rest of our stay. Also, the water pressure of the shower was terrible. ii. A/C didn’t work during our second and third nights. We reported the issue both days and it was supposedly fixed. However, we were sweating both nights. It was literally cooler outside the room than inside. Not being able to have a good night’s sleep was really annoying. iii. The terrace Jacuzzi had no hot water and even if it had, the water pressure was so bad that half of the water that came of out of the faucet fell directly to the floor rather than the Jacuzzi. Even if hot water was available, it would’ve taken ages to fill it. iv. We ordered (terrible) room service the first night and the trays and remaining food were left in the room by housekeeping the next day. The food in the hotel is very subpar. One day we had lunch in the pool which was ok, another day we had dinner at the High Room (since there was a wedding in the other restaurant) and food was average. We tried ordering salmon on both occasions (different days) and they were out of salmon both times. Breakfast buffet is pretty mediocre. Nothing looked good and they offered mostly pork or beef dishes. There was an average omelet station. But the worst food experience was room service. We ordered grilled ham and cheese sandwiches on our first night and they were disgusting (I’m not exaggerating). The ham was hard to chew and the cheese was not gouda as advertised, it tasted like those cheap cheese squares you buy as package at the supermarket. Each sandwich was almost 400 baht which is ridiculous. So overall, the experience was unique but filled with too many substantial inconveniences. It was definitely not 5 stars. Hot water and A/C are essential, especially with Chiang Mai’s weather. We should’ve been changed to another room if there was no water or A/C but it was never offered. Considering the distance to Chiang Mai and all of the above, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. We visited the Shangri La (same rate) and it looked great although not as exciting as the Veranda. Next time we would consider staying there instead.

From the moment you drive into the grounds you know that this place is different but in a very nice way. Check in at the open aired reception is an experience in itself, very large seating area with views of the resort , green areas as well some unique architecture. By the time you have finished your welcome drink registration/check in will have been taken care of and you will be transported to your accommodation. We stayed in a pavilion with splash pool, the room is huge, the bed is huge, the bathroom is huge

Superb, excellent, wonderful, exciting … there are many words to describe this holiday. The most intriguing of the all : the gorgeous sunset view seen over the shimmering infinity pool, which overlooks the mountain region of Hang Dong. Away from the city life, its a very quiet place, a sanctuary from the normal traffic and pollution. A great place for a nature lover. It has an open concept, all the amenities are layed out across a wide area of land. If you are not into walking, there is a buggy service to take you around. Very kind and helpful staff. a special shout out to Fern, who helped with all our inquiries. A great and extraordinary experience.
