After having a little difficulty locating The Old Bakery in the tiny but picturesque village of Amberley we were absolutely blown away by the sheer size of the accommodation we were given. Sarah has only one 'room' for travellers but that room is actually half the house and the garden with a little room at the end as well! After... More

What a delightful village and this guest house is an excellent value. We stayed whilst walking the SDW and Sarah made us so welcome. Drinks and cakes on arrival - superb breakfast and very comfortable rooms, including a sitting room with TV.. Would highly recommend to anybody...as other reviews have claimed "possibly one of the best B&Bs on the walk"... More

We were guests at a wedding in a neighboring village and were fortunate enough to stay 3 nights at The Old Bakery. Our suite of rooms included a sitting room which opened to patio and garden, very quiet and private. Sarah was a wonderful host making us feel so welcome. She had thought of everything a guest might need -... More

We arrived at The Old Bakery after completing a 21 mile section of the South Downs Way in April. It was a long day and we were very tired. We were warmly greeted and shown to our own sitting room, where we were supplied with tea and toasted teacakes. After a nice soak in the bath we were ready for... More

We stayed whilst walking the South Downs Way. A super welcome and a delightful room. Tea and crumpets on arrival, what more could you want after walking 12 miles that day. Sarah was a super host. I highly recommend the anchovy toast served with your boiled egg for breakfast, a wonderful combination and then homemade banana bread to take with... More

I stayed whilst walking the South Downs Way with my son. This is a really lovely B&B in an attractive old house and with a very warm welcome from Sarah. The rooms are light and quiet and there is a great bath for a tired walker! Even by Sussex's high standards the village is outstandingly beautiful. Highly recommended.

Attracted by a lunch offer at Amberley Castle, we searched the Internet for somewhere to stay within easy walking distance of the castle. We found The Old Bakery. It is an excellent B & B situated in the heart of the very picturesque, quiet village of Amberley. We are delighted to report that our 2 night stay at The Old... More

What a wonderful find! A fascinating old building with what is effectively, your very own self contained flat! with a lovely walled garden to sit out in to boot! We only spent one night here but if we were exploring the area more extensively then we would undoubtedly use this as a base if it were possible. Sarah, our host,... More

What a find! The Old Bakery is a wonderful place to stay in a quiet Sussex village. Sarah is an amazing host and cook...breakfasts were superb, as were all the little extras she offers such as homemade banana bread. We stayed in one evening and enjoyed a fantastic meal cooked by Sarah, far superior to any pub food and very... More

We were walking the South Downs and stayed at this pretty B&B the night before we set off. We could not have asked for better treatment. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast was great, the hosts were friendly and there is even a dog !
